It's actually great to see Mikis eyes and how he is caught by her singning. Absolutely fantastic that this moment has been recorded on camera! What a historic document!
Mikis has called this woman "a true priestess of his songs" and a "Goddess". That's very impressive! I think that Arja is indeed a very beautiful woman and an emotional singer. Well done Finland!
First time i saw that video, it brought tears into my eyes. How great it is , to listen the words of our poet, Yannis Ritsos, performed in a foreign language. Words about people's struggle for Freedom embraced by others.
When she sings: at 2.02: "These hearts don't give in to anything but to justice" (Nämä sydämet eivät taivu kuin oikeuden edessä...) - doesn't that bring tears to your eyes? BTW I'm pretty sure I was there, or at a quite similar concert that year! Thanks to Theodorakis many Greek poets became familiar to us in Finland. Many artists in Sweden were also immensely engaged for Theodorakis and against the Junta.
I watch this document every now and then. I always get thrilled. I guess this is one of those magical moments when a composer meets a singer of his music.
I was born in the 80s, but this video makes me wish I was older. I love this song. There's such great power in her voice it makes me feel a little bit afraid - in a good way.
This is a wonderful unique document indeed. I have the radiorecording of 4 of the Romiosini songs with Arja from the 1970-1972 tour. I will upload the first one tonight and the rest later. Thanks for Posting this !
This is very rear historic scene: Arja Saijonmaa Great Singer, an amazing voice Arja Saijonmaa has born in Filand with Greek Soul thank you uesr:HussoHilda
@@njuham when these people said freedom in the 1940s to 1970s, what they meant was freedom from foreign big powers. Not taxation. Taxation was not seen as a big problem (not just by them, but from right wingers as well at that time), because they had to deal with way bigger problems than a big state. Of course you can't have freedom in socialism. Mikis Theodorakis knew this already in the 1980s, which is why he abandoned social democracy and became a liberal.
Great performance. Real pleasure to listen to.👍👍👍Can anyone tell me the name of the melody Mikis is playing? Would love to listen to the whole melody. Thanks in advance.
Great expression. She does a very good job. But still I must say, it sounds a bit odd in Finish to me. A great document anyway. Congratulations to that work, respecting at the time it has been done.

Mikis und Arja wären ein schönes Paar gewesen. Sie mochte ihn, er mochte sie , aber die Umwelt hätte es nicht akzeptiert. Nun ist es zu spät.
She is great singer
Best ever! What can we more ask for M.T and A.S together! We have everything! Only to enjoy and take it! Love them and the music!!!

@@njuham I'm sorry for you! Both Finland (1917) and Greece (1974) are now free democratic countries and members of the European Union.

Paras kohta tässä on, kun Mikis tulee itse pianon ääreen esittämään omaa biisiään😊
I assume this is the same composer who had a successful collaboration with Nana Mouskouri?
benoni45 you are asking?? This is Theodorakis, one of the greatest composers in history in the world.
that was Manos Ηatzidakis, actually
Does anyone know the song name?
I found it, it's called "Afta ta dentra"!
in finnish?
