OMG - I did not see that No.1 coming! But I am very pleased - I have LOTS of nice memories connected to that record, and I saw Banshees live in Stockholm in 1983.
I'm a little surprised by your #1 pick, though I agree it is fabulous. There are so many awesome records from 1978, so it must have been tough to do this list. Very good "tired old ranking video."
All Mod Cons is top 3 surely, a 19 - 20 year old Weller, back against the wall, having to deliver a 3rd album, beautiful love songs and English themes many can't relate to. Mind blowing when it came out. Still is! Respect for including it.

Excellent stuff. I picked up a white label promo of the scream from a local collector a few months ago. My favorite SNL clip ever is when the Beastie Boys played Radio Radio with Elvis Costello back when Ill Communication came out.

Great job…..again. Noticed “Double Nickels” in the background. I was surprised that wasn’t in your top 100 punk albums, unless I missed it 😀 I’m guessing you didn’t have it in vinyl at the time. Anyway one of my all time faves..top 10
Fantastic eclectic mix of albums. Just thinking back to 1978, in the UK anyway, which was so tribal about music (I'm sure that's probably true for the U.S.A. as well, more or less?) you would never get those albums in the same collection! Your typical Elvis Costello fan woud probably look down his or her nose at Judas Priest and AC/DC. I think that's one positive about the here and now, it's possible to listen and enjoy records and evaluate records on their own merits and not be influnced by what a music snob friend thinks or what the NME has written. Anyway, I thought that was a great selection and definitely not predictable, a great watch.
Some excellent selections My Top 20 from 1978 Cathedral - Stained Glass Stories Happy The Man - Crafty Hands Jade Warrior - Way Of The Sun Jethro Tull - Heavy Horses Rush - Hemispheres UK - UK Alan Parsons Project - Pyramid Boston - Dont Look Back Judas Priest - Stained Class Styx - Pieces Of Eight Van Halen - Van Halen Dixie Dregs - What If Jean Luc Ponty - Cosmic Messenger Blondie: Psrallel Lines The Police: Outlandos D'Amour The Cars: The Cars Gerry Rafferty: City To City Bob Marley & The Wailers: Kaya Big Star: Third/Sister Lovers Foreigner: Double Vision
Awesome man! Absolutely love that debut by The Cars (I swear I wore that out on cassette) and although Good Times Roll and My Best Friends Girl off side 1 are no doubt the stand out tracks for many, for me side 2 is even better the way it opens with Robinson on those floor toms slowly transitions into the main beat. And then those transitions of Moving In Stereo amd All Mixed Up...damn! Sooo good. I'm spinning it right now dude. Thanks 😄. P.S. I also consider Powerage the point at which AC⚡️DC came into their own with Cliff Williams replacing Mark Evans on bass...and my fave of the Scott era for sure. Great vid Rich. Cheers dude! 🍻🤘🎶🤘
Another bangin’ Top Ten list! Some great diversity here in 78! Man it was a killer year for music in my opinion! Loved that you included AC/DC so high in the rankings! In my old band Section 7, we used to cover the AC/DC song TNT which was one of my favorites we did! Cool vid! Peace ☮️✌️👽🤘👽
respect for anyone that has the The Jam, AC/DC , Patti on the same top 10 list ... I haven't seen a Tom Waits record yet though, my favorite artist of all time by a long shot.
Springsteen, Lazy Ass Bum! LOL!!! That's why I love your videos, you never cease to throughout these golden nuggets... OK, on to the music, all great picks for me, except Judas Priest. I never got into the metal scene. Springsteens Darkness is awesome, but I would have moved The Cars up and their second album is my favorite one. The Jam: All Mod Cons and The Ramones: Roan to Ruin are both perfect albums and my favorites by them. That Elvis Costello album has my all time favorite song by him, This Years Girl. My list would have included Devo: Are We Not Men?, The Buzzcocks: Love Bites, Cheap Trick: heaven Tonight and The Rolling Stones: Some Girls. BTW, I think recycler 1955 Hopkins in on the wrong channel. Styx?!! Bob Seger??!!
Styx are not going to make my top ten but if they make his thats fine. I was surprised to hear the Springsteen never worked a day in his life. Keith Richards yes but that surprised me about Bruce. The Lazy Ass Bum wasn’t planned, it just came out.
Richie, I was waiting for this one. Besides Springsteen, my list would include the Van Halen debut, Warren Zevon-Excitable Boy, Bob Seger-Stranger in Town, Billy Joel-52nd Street, Styx-Pieces of Eight, Doobie Brothers- Minute by Minute and Dire Straits debut too.
Slowly makin my way through these! Such a unique list, haven't seen CRASS in one of these too often. With Siouxsie, I always thought it was very early days before the band gelled, and before John McGeoch, but it's been growing on me over the years. Still a ways from #1, or even top 50, but it's growin! My picks: Elvis Costello - This Year’s Model Wire - Chairs Missing X-Ray Spex - Germ-Free Adolescents Magazine - Real Life Buzzcocks - Another Music In A Different Kitchen Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller) The Jam - All Mod Cons The Adverts - Crossing the Red Sea With The Adverts Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings And Food The Saints - Eternally Yours Cedric Im Brooks - The Magical Light Of Saba AC/DC - Powerage Pere Ubu - Dub Housing Buzzcocks - Love Bites Nick Lowe - Jesus Of Cool Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A. We Are Devo Burning Spear - Social Living (Marcus’ Children) Kraftwerk - The Man Machine Television - Adventure Lee Perry - Roast Fish Collie Weed and Corn Bread Rush - Hemispheres Judas Priest - Stained Class Bob Marley & the Wailers - Kaya Dennis Brown - Visions of Dennis Brown The Stranglers - Black And White Ijahman - Haile I Hymn Radio Birdman - Living Eyes Misfits - Static Age Cheap Trick - Heaven Tonight
Totally agree with your list. Powerage is so incredible strong song wise (sin city, gimme me a bullet, gone shooting) and also sound wise (no Mutt Lange polished production as later). On the OG vinyl of Powerage there is also the killer song Cold hearted man, which is not on CD! Honourable mentions wound be IMHO the first Police and Van Halen. Also Externally Yours by the Saints would be in my Top Ten and Jesus of Cool by Mr. Lowe. Need to check your no. 1 (Siouxie & the B.). Oh, i forgot So alone by Johnny Thunders with back up from Steve Jones, Paul Cook, Phil Lynott, Steve Marriot etc. This record aged very well for me, when you are able to tolerate the whining voice of Johnny.😅 Nice video and please no audiofool stuff anymore. 😜.
Hello I had that Cars debut album on vinyl in 1978. I like the Cramps, they are one of my favorite bands. I thought the Jam were okay. I owned their album Sound Effects in 1981. That's Entertainment was a single lifted off it which is good. I had the Elvis Costello album This Years Model in 78, it contained good songs, my favorite one was Pump it Up. Warren Zevons 1978 album Excitable Boy is cool, and so is the song of his Werewolves of London. Blondies Parallel Lines too. Thanks.
I had the album Excitable Boy. My favorites by far were Werewolves Of London and Lawyers, Guns & Money. I haven’t listened to Jam albums much past the first three. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
10. Bachman Turner Overdrive - Street Action 9. Judas Priest - Stained Class 8. Dire Straits - Dire Straits 7. AC/DC - Powerage 6. Al Stewart - Time Passages 5. UFO - Obsession 4. Kate Bush - The Kick Inside 3. Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy 2. Jethro Tull - Heavy Horses 1. JEFF WAYNE'S MUSICAL VERSION OF THE WAR OF THE WORLDS
Pretty solid year .. I would omit Crass , AC/DC & The Priest & add Johnny Thunders ⛈️ , Van Halen & Nick Lowe - no beef with the other 7. Jets like to comeback late .. entertaining team.
You're alright in my book Richie.. Started also listen to Ryan Kidd from you mentioning his name awhile back. Have to agree with you on some of those records but J Priest I have no clue when it comes to them, PSmith, Cars, Springsteen, Ramones, Elvis, Jam are big with me. I've tried but not a big fan with Siouxsie. Another great video, tell it like it is..
I’m not big on Metal but love Judas Priest. I watched a UA-cam video titled James Priest. It is a great mash up of James Brown and Judas Priest. If you have 3 minutes check it out.
'It tanked!' 1.4K views! Most VC people could only dream of such numbers!! And the huge number of likes you get relative to views!! You big channels are so ungrateful and have lost touch with your roots. Call yourself a punk? Pah! Great video though dagnammit!
Right on Siouxsie & The Banshees! Good call. Vinyl Rich rules! 😉 Did you ever like The Boomtown Rats? Tonic for the troops was an awesome new wave album from 1978. Mutt Lange production. Super pop.
Great stuff Richie! 70's Ramones so Good. I like Hell Bent for Leather as a better title and yeah so effin Metal. Powerage My Favorite Bon Scott record! Down payment blues' So efffin Good! I just found that Cars album at a yard sale, In a car ironically. Been hunting for that one for a long time. Go Hawks! :)
My top ten from 1978 that I bought on vinyl as each was released and they are still played frequently Wet Dream by Richard Wright David Gilmour by David Gilmour City to City by Gerry Rafferty The Kick Inside AND Lionheart by Kate Bush Pyramid by Alan Parsons Project Comes a Time by Neil Young Backless by Eric Clapton Incantations by Mike Oldfield Peter Gabriel II (Scratch) by Peter Gabriel Living in the USA by Linda Ronstadt
I put that Crass album in my best of 1979. I had that Jams at #9 too. Solid band. And Ramones! Had that higher. My second fave album by them. Killer Priest album. Their most disco record and Mac cover. I still havent got into Costello yet. Is this his best one? Great picks for #1 and 2. Surprised by your #1. I need that one.
Wow ! First time I have all the albums Richie shows in a video, all ten. He has a lot of punk rarities, killer albums that are impossible to get nowdays, so his videos are painful to watch sometimes lol
People do tend to pigeonhole what they think your channel is about and don't seem to want to see anything else. But sometimes it feels like they get bored of seeing the usual stuff too. Cool rant Rich. Got that Cars debut on CD, don't know if I would put in a top 10 but it is excellent. First heard the Springsteen album a few years after when my late aunt sent me a copy. Listened to it and couldn't really figure it out or why she gave it to me, she had never gifted me anything remotely music related before. Anyway in one format or another it has remained in the collection. Elvis Costello is another stellar pick but they are all great. Funny as in the 80's I thought the 70's sucked for music but now that decade makes up probably at least half my music collection. Cheers Rich!
1 Stones, Some Girls 2 Bryan Ferry, Bride Stripped Bare 3 Dr Buzzard's Savannah Band - Meets King Pennett 4. Ramones, Road to Ruin 5. Funkadelic, One Nation Under a Groove 6. Elvis Costello, This Years Model 7. X Ray Spex, Germ Free Adolescence 8. Pere Ubu, Dub Housing 9. Eno, Before & After Science 10. Al Green, Truth N Time Tie. Big Star 3rd
That is a very good list. I’m not familiar Truth N Time by Al Green. The Eno made my 77 list. I think it came out in 77 but it wouldn’t be my first mistake.
@@vinylrichie007Just checked on Eno. Came out in late 77 in the UK, and early 78 in the US. I was not quite old, or informed enough to be seriously into imports - I just saw them listed in ads in magazines like Creem or Circus. X Ray Spex and the first Clash were the first imports I bought, as I remember.
@@johnryan3913 I was not into imports either. I think the Clash debut was my first because it wasn’t released in the US. I guess we are both correct when it comes to the Eno album.
Sadly, Richie I am your lone returning Beatles fan. The Cars definitely rate for me. I agree their first 2 are the best. Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated is great fun. A bit surprised that Little River Band didn't make the list! 1978 was huge for them!🤭
Np thanks for doing this great yt channel.. IM lucky to. Know them there pretty rare( kinda) there 1981 album (angel city) night attack from. Epic records is very punk and may be there besy album.. Ivory stairs off No Exit seems like the message of stairway to heaven and acdc riff raff. But there soo good on drums like (the damed1977 punk band) geez the druming tbese guys can do but the difference is (gje angels had top. Notch recording and mixing) (the damed) Ramones and other punk power or hard rock groups just never imo had the recording capability the angels got hooked up. With the best ppl and everything but failed in America due to infighting essentially with in the and were mismanaged (neglected) somehow . Whitch saved them from. Burn out .. They rock. Aussie to. This day!!! Have a great day sir!
Nice choice for Number One👍 Pleased to hear you use 'pissed off' for meaning angry; most Americans just say 'pissed' and over here in Australia that means being very drunk, while 'pissed off' means angry, of course. Wow, a 'shrink-rip' live on camera😁 I've got a badge sent to me by Tuco when he had his VC contest which mentions that very thing!!! Cheers from Oz. John D
I wonder if I say pissed off because my parents are from England. I have a question about the use of the word Aussie. Is it cool for a Yank to use the word Aussie or is it reserved for Australians?
Whoops, you forgot Pink Flag, Pure Pop for Now People, More Songs About Buildings and Food, Give em Enough Rope, Come a Time, Pure Mania, Some Girls, Shiny Beast and Parallel Lines.
I considered Pink Flag and Parallel Lines but they just making the top ten. The others are good except Give Em Enough Rope is my least favorite Clash album.
I wasn’t familiar with Face To Face. I gave it a listen. I was very uncertain to begin with because the first song takes a while to get going. I really like the record and see if it is available at a reasonable price. Thanks for the comment.
I have had my list made but have yet to pull the albums to listen to them for 78. A lot of similar stuff and then some albums I don’t have. I have never seen that Banshee album, does that have Christine on it? I like her earlier stuff the best. Don’t have the AC/DC anymore either or the Jam which I really want to get back. I got a few Wanker albums popping into my list that no doubt will I,press the hell out of you lol
re Ac/ Dc...for me their best, by far was Let There Be Rock...the band were at their bone crunching best on this classic. Powerage was also damn good before they descended into pop / rock territory.
I considered Let There Be Rock but it didn’t make the top ten because of two songs. I don’t know if AC/DC went pop/rock but I would say they started playing it safe.
I know This Years Model made my top ten but I don’t remember where. Most likely towards the top of the list. I like Comes A Time but it would more than likely make my top twenty.
I was 19. So 1978 *should* be golden music memories and the best culture of the century or ever since. That's the theory, isn't it - - old farts prefer the culture that was contemporaneous to their prime and interpret progress as all downhill as *we* go downhill. Well at 19 this old fart already knew the culture was on the skids and unlikely ever to recover. I was growing fast but the culture was shrinking, and my sustenance was yesterday's music and yesterday's books and a big tank of a manual typewriter. The best of it was the Sixties and the penultimate best was the Fifties because it was the eve of something happening. A teen, and nostalgic already - - I *knew* what 1978 would be like because 1974, 75, 76 and 77 were shit too. A pattern was developing. The Eighties was such a booby trap that we've all been trapped in the Eighties ever since. So it turns out there's no such thing as progress, not for the last half century or the foreseeable future. All that triggered by a V-R selection! I'll try to be upbeat next time, though it might require cranes and haulage equipment. I did buy 'Baker Street' 45 rpm in 1978, does that count? Go, Jets. Go, V-R.
Hats off for putting The Scream at #1, great album. But hey, while I know it wasn't released in 79, but it was supposed to be, I would have put Static Age by The Misfits. Just sayin.
Woohoo! SATB gets a nod. I love Siouxsie.. she didn't give a shit. Only wish I could have seen them early on. Wanna check out The Jam and The Crass records.
Sham 59 "Tell Us The Truth" The Buzzcocks "Another Music From a Different Kitchen" Generation X debut album, Elvis Costello "This Year's Model" Slaughter & the Dogs "Do it Dog Style" Rezillos "Can't Stand The Rezillos" Devo "Q Are We Not Men? A We are Devo" The Ramones "Road To Ruin" The Buzzcocks "Love Bites" The Saints "Prehistoric Sounds" Public Image debut album, Penetration "Moving Targets" The Jam "All Mod Cons" The Clash "Give 'Em Enough Rope" Siouxsie & The Banshees "The Scream" X-Ray Spex " Germ Free Adolescents"
@@vinylrichie007 IMO the Stranglers LP, although not quite as startling as their debut, is still excellent and contains arguably their punkiest song, I Feel Like a Wog. When my list of the 15 best punk albums was published, many readers tossed shade on me for leaving out the X-Ray Spex LP. I think it is great, but many can't get past Poly's voice. As you say, it's all a matter of taste and everyone thinks differently, thank heaven.
Powerage for me is also their best. Patti is in their again, so I will accolade you again Vinyl Richie. Midnight Oil's debut is in there for me. No Golden Earring yet - will we see the great Dutchmen in the future top 10's??????
"Most people know the Ramones. They either love them or hate them or are whatever." You're either a comic genius or just kinda dull. 5:37. Let's go with the former.
Hey Richie bro I'm not doubting you in any way but you don't look old enough to have grown up with the Beatles bro. LoL we don't look much older than I do and I was born in 66.
Saying a specific record is the first HC “album” is probably where some wisazz that collects 7” is probably gonna butt in, let’s see if that happens 🥁😂🙌🥁🤷♂️☠️🤣
That is an interesting choice that I’m not familiar with. I checked out the album. It has some really good songs though I didn’t care for the title song Nite Flights. The dude has a weird voice.
@@vinylrichie007 if you think his voice is weird on NIGHT FLIGHTS, don't listen to anything from the following decades. He challenges every notion that brought him fame. But Bowie uses his voice as inspiration on many recordings. Check out this Bowie interview from the Scott Walker Doc 30TH CENTURY MAN ua-cam.com/video/GbmY-KyaS4Q/v-deo.html
Daring pick with The Crass. Is an EP an album? Can an album be an EP? Can a 1980 release be in the top ten albums of 1978? 🤷♂ That Crass album is great. I've got the 1978 version with A1 as The Sound of Freedom. It's an audiophile track; there is so much air between the instruments it's ridiculous. Cheers, Tom
I never fully understood why some records are Eps and others are Lps. Most are obvious but others don’t make sense. The year of the pressing has nothing to do with the release year. But you know that.
@@vinylrichie007 Yeah, I'm being ridiculous about the release year. I don't know why that album is considered an EP; likely has to do with how the band describes it. I think Sonic Youth considers their first album to be their 5-song record that I would think is an EP... what do I know. Cheers, Tom
Thanks for the shout out! Great video, as always. We’ve got 1970 coming on Tuesday.
Your top ten videos are great.
You are the only one who could be include The Crass in a Top Ten. That's why I like this channel.
That Crass album is so original.
You are simply the best in the VC!
We share taste and humor.
Always great fun to watch your videos! 😎👍🏼
Thanks for the kind words.
Great vid!! The closer you get to the 80's, the better these vids are getting.. Excellent!!👍👍👍
That is good to hear but I don’t think the Van Halen and Styx fans agree.

4 Parallel Lines - Blondie
5 Outlandos D'Amour - The Police.
I have 3 of your 5.

I guess.

1978 wasn’t as hard as 77.
Great albums!!!! My favorite Ramones record!
The first four Ramones albums are so good.
@@vinylrichie007 Agreed!
I don’t mind lyrics that say something I don’t agree with. What I DO mind is record companies deciding WHAT I should listen to! Great point Richie!👌

I’ve never worn a Crass shirt.
Some great stuff in there Richie. A few unexpected’s, a few missing, but great top ten with many similar to mine. I’m inspired to do mine. Mike

"This was her first album." He seems to think that it's Siouxsie & the No Account Sidekicks.
Siouxsie and the Sidekicks has a nice ring to it.
Good catch. That type of thing happens when you don’t use notes or edits. Siouxsie and the Banshees are a great band.
Hey Rich love your best of series! This one has made me wanna spin Some Girls up to the max!!! ;)
Some Girls is good but not top ten good.

AC/DC powerage would definitely be in my top 10, for me powerage is the best album that AC/DC put out.

Thin Lizzy - live and dangerous
Neil youngs - comes a time
Funkadelics - one nation
Talking heads - more songs about building and food

Gerry Rafferty: City To City
Bob Marley & The Wailers: Kaya

keep on doing what you do - I like it.
I’m having fun so I’m going to keep doing what I do.
I looooove "this years model".😍 Masterpiece in my opinion.
It is so good.
The Scream and Powerage would for sure end up high on my 78 list
Two great records.
I love side two of the Cars debut. I had their 2nd on cassette and I wore it out.
Played “this years model” today!!! Cool my favorite Bruce album also! Candy’s room crank it up!!!!!
Thanks for watching.
A solid top 5 man!
I take it 6-10 are not so solid.
@@vinylrichie007 lol. No man that's not what I mean
respect for anyone that has the The Jam, AC/DC , Patti on the same top 10 list ... I haven't seen a Tom Waits record yet though, my favorite artist of all time by a long shot.
I only have a few Tom Waits albums. Thanks for the compliment.
Great pick at Number 1. Really love ‘Voices’ which was the b-side to Hong Kong Garden. Rowling Psychedelic post-punk.
That album is so good.
Springsteen came from a working class background. And he was a hard working rocker. His concerts were - still are - mammoth.
Lazy ass bum. Lmao.
Being a hard working rocker isn’t the same as being a hard worker.
Of all those the Doobie Brothers are the highest on my list.
My picks:
Elvis Costello - This Year’s Model
Wire - Chairs Missing
X-Ray Spex - Germ-Free Adolescents
Magazine - Real Life
Buzzcocks - Another Music In A Different Kitchen
Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)
The Jam - All Mod Cons
The Adverts - Crossing the Red Sea With The Adverts
Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance
Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings And Food
The Saints - Eternally Yours
Cedric Im Brooks - The Magical Light Of Saba
AC/DC - Powerage
Pere Ubu - Dub Housing
Buzzcocks - Love Bites
Nick Lowe - Jesus Of Cool
Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A. We Are Devo
Burning Spear - Social Living (Marcus’ Children)
Kraftwerk - The Man Machine
Television - Adventure
Lee Perry - Roast Fish Collie Weed and Corn Bread
Rush - Hemispheres
Judas Priest - Stained Class
Bob Marley & the Wailers - Kaya
Dennis Brown - Visions of Dennis Brown
The Stranglers - Black And White
Ijahman - Haile I Hymn
Radio Birdman - Living Eyes
Misfits - Static Age
Cheap Trick - Heaven Tonight
Good job Richie! I enjoyed most of your choices! I think you’re getting better at this! Haha! Cheers, Jon
I might stop at 79.
This record aged very well for me, when you are able to tolerate the whining voice of Johnny.😅
Nice video and please no audiofool stuff anymore. 😜.
No more audiofool, promise.
Love The Scream!!
It is good.
Cars - great choice. Road to Ruin has that soft spot for me due to Rock n Roll High School which really seems to be featured in that movie.
I’ve never seen that movie.
Ive been waiting for this. I haet the beatles and MoFi too
The Beatles pushed the direction of music in the 60’s.
I love you started with a Cars copy that is MoFi lol
Whoa - #1 threw me for a curve. Great pick! Good luck to your Jets.
I’m glad you enjoyed the Cars MoFi.
Powerage and the scream: what an awesome peak!
Great year.
10. Bachman Turner Overdrive - Street Action
9. Judas Priest - Stained Class
8. Dire Straits - Dire Straits
7. AC/DC - Powerage
6. Al Stewart - Time Passages
5. UFO - Obsession
4. Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
3. Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy
2. Jethro Tull - Heavy Horses
1. JEFF WAYNE'S MUSICAL VERSION OF THE WAR OF THE WORLDS
That is a good list. Though i only know four throughly.
ufo-obsession
rush-hemispheres
manfred mann-watch
judas priest-stained class
patti smith-easter
UFO is a great choice. I don’t care for Rush. Stained Class is a very good album, in fact it is the favorite of many.
Pretty solid year .. I would omit Crass , AC/DC & The Priest & add Johnny Thunders ⛈️ , Van Halen & Nick Lowe - no beef with the other 7. Jets like to comeback late .. entertaining team.
I need to get the Johnny Thunders.
King Dick is not amused.
Right on Siouxsie & The Banshees! Good call. Vinyl Rich rules! 😉 Did you ever like The Boomtown Rats? Tonic for the troops was an awesome new wave album from 1978. Mutt Lange production. Super pop.
I like the Boomtown Rats. At least the first three. I’ve never heard their albums past that.
Go Hawks! :)
Are you a hockey fan or are you referring to the Seahawks.
@@vinylrichie007 Seahawks our new hockey team is called The Kraken 🦑
You said Go Jets at the end I had to respond 🏈👍
@@RussShawTV I thought you meant Seahawks but no one in California refers to them as the Hawks. Geno Smith has been doing good.
If Daddy Richie has MOFI then I guess I should too ? Gawd I'm sucha sheeple!!! 😎🐑
Naw
My top ten from 1978 that I bought on vinyl as each was released and they are still played frequently
Wet Dream by Richard Wright
David Gilmour by David Gilmour
City to City by Gerry Rafferty
The Kick Inside AND Lionheart by Kate Bush
Pyramid by Alan Parsons Project
Comes a Time by Neil Young
Backless by Eric Clapton
Incantations by Mike Oldfield
Peter Gabriel II (Scratch) by Peter Gabriel
Living in the USA by Linda Ronstadt
I put that Crass album in my best of 1979. I had that Jams at #9 too. Solid band. And Ramones! Had that higher. My second fave album by them. Killer Priest album. Their most disco record and Mac cover. I still havent got into Costello yet. Is this his best one? Great picks for #1 and 2. Surprised by your #1. I need that one.
I’ve never thought about the most disco sounding Judas Priest album. Interesting concept.
Wow ! First time I have all the albums Richie shows in a video, all ten. He has a lot of punk rarities, killer albums that are impossible to get nowdays, so his videos are painful to watch sometimes lol
10 for 10 is pretty good.
When it comes to top 40 hits I’m familiar with most in the 60’s and 70’s. A lot of the 80’s hits are foreign to me.
Where are all disco albums? Just kidding, solid list. Hard to say what would be my top 10 for 1978. Some punk, some rockabilly I quess.
I don’t hate Disco. It just doesn’t make the top ten.
@@vinylrichie007 Yeah, true! Not top 10 material for me either!
1 Stones, Some Girls
2 Bryan Ferry, Bride Stripped Bare
3 Dr Buzzard's Savannah Band - Meets King Pennett
4. Ramones, Road to Ruin
5. Funkadelic, One Nation Under a Groove
6. Elvis Costello, This Years Model
7. X Ray Spex, Germ Free Adolescence
8. Pere Ubu, Dub Housing
9. Eno, Before & After Science
10. Al Green, Truth N Time
Tie.
1978 was huge for them!🤭
I’m sure I would know Little River Band if I heard them. You’re up early.
LOL, always up early, Richie 😊
👍👍👍
😊
Best Susie and the banshees 👍album ever
It is hard to beat.
The angels face to face 1978
I do like that album.
With the best ppl and everything but failed in America due to infighting essentially with in the and were mismanaged (neglected) somehow
@@vinylrichie007 Cheers VR. If it was up to me, you'd be made an honorary Aussie. 🦘Love your channel and unique delivery style.👍
All the Aussie AC-DC Albums with bon Scott rate high with me. Could never get into Brian era as much
The only Australian AC/DC that I have is Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. It came close to making my top ten. His arm looks like a giant chicken leg.
THE ANGELS FACE TO FACE
HEAVY LOAD full speed at high level
Christine is on the 3rd Siouxsie and the Banshees album. You always come up with a great top ten.
re Ac/ Dc...for me their best, by far was Let There Be Rock...the band were at their bone crunching best on this classic. Powerage was also damn good before they descended into pop / rock territory.
I considered Let There Be Rock but it didn’t make the top ten because of two songs. I don’t know if AC/DC went pop/rock but I would say they started playing it safe.
Comes a Time, Neil Young (side 1 mostly) would be my second best; Costello this Years Model is the best of this year.
Go, Jets. Go, V-R.
I disagree. Love the 70’s and 80’s.
Let's split the difference, I'll meet you halfway through the 70s.
Good choices for 1978!
Your videos are getting better and better!

Hats off for putting The Scream at #1, great album. But hey, while I know it wasn't released in 79, but it was supposed to be, I would have put Static Age by The Misfits. Just sayin.
If the Misfits and Black Flag could have gotten someone to put out their records things would certainly have been different.
Personally, I like The Cars' Heartbeat City as my favorite of their albums, but their debut album was killer.
I will be giving it a fresh listen soon.
Woohoo! SATB gets a nod. I love Siouxsie.. she didn't give a shit. Only wish I could have seen them early on.
Wanna check out The Jam and The Crass records.
I never saw Siouxsie live.
Ha! I was hoping for Siouxsie & The Banshees.
I was not expecting Siouxsie and the Banshees to top the list. After several listens of each album it became clear.
Oh I'd just like to mention that I believe Mr Springsteen does work for a living? 🤣🤣🤣
He may work hard but its not work.
@@vinylrichie007 and? would you care to elaborate?
@@willieluncheonette5843 I don’t think the Stranglers album is as good as the first and I’m not a fan of the X Ray Spex album.
@@willieluncheonette5843 Its all opinion though.

Daring pick with The Crass. Is an EP an album? Can an album be an EP? Can a 1980 release be in the top ten albums of 1978? 🤷♂
That Crass album is great.
