  • Today we have a set of 'open ear' headphones. The design aids in being able to hear ambient surrounding noise, while still enjoying your favorite songs. They have a 5 hour playback time, are totally waterproof, and only take 1.5 hours to charge! I really enjoy these and highly recommend them.

Got these - in fact, two because they were offering "such a deal " -on a whim when an ad popped up touting the advantages of bone conduction transducer headphones. It was a big production video and they explained how bone conducted sound works, how the military uses it, how Beethoven used a rod clenched in his teeth that touched the piano and conducted sound when he was otherwise deaf. Cool technology. So when they arrived, the English and Chinese printing on the outside of the box said it was an "open air duet" headset. It uses the micro USB connector to charge, not the type C everyone has gone to. I turned it on and HEARD the power on announcement through the air an arm's length away. Close inspection revealed two little backward pointed slits in the boxes forward of the ear. These are NOT bone conduction headphones of any kind! They are simply off-the-ear headphones designed to look like the military and other similar products using audio bone conduction transducers. Next thing noticed, no way to control audio levels from headset. Gotta use the phone. When answering a call, everyone complained they couldn't hear me or I sounded really far away until I pulled my phone out of my pocket and brought it up to my mouth. Further experiments with dictation and apps requiring a spoken response confirmed no microphone in the headset. Because it's an off the ear headset, I can either wear it over my ears or down around my neck and still hear everything. So can people across the room. So in some ways, off ear is OK, but don't expect private listening. And just being a headset only, the price is way too high. And the deceptive marketing says it all.

I have been using these Open Ear Duet DYY-1 Wireless Bluetooth 5.0 Headphones for 3 weeks now and have zero "cons" and lots of '''pros". I like that I can listen to music while walking or biking without worrying about not hearing sirens. I plan to shower or swim with them to test their claim of being waterproof. They are great for side sleepers, you can hardly tell you are wearing them. I was in my Dr's office & my husband had to tell me to remove them as I can't feel that they are on. I did have trouble with the charging cable. I could not find where to plug it into the headset. I called the consumer service number and a nice young man told me where to find the flap that was covering the outlet. As one person mentioned , at first I was not sure I could get it to fit but once I turned it in the proper direction it had to be lined up PERFECTLY to slide in. I am a stroke survivor and now one-handed, it makes all these tight fittings are difficult. I like the fact that it talks to me and tells me when it is on and even when it's pairing.

Thanks for the review. I was hoping to see if anyone figured out how to know if they are fully charged or not? I agree with George they are advertised as bone conduction but are 100% air conduction, but still I appreciate (especially for the price) that they work well, they are wireless and I can still hear my surroundings!!

I love these already EXEPT - the loop that goes around the back of my head is way too "large." Can I pull on end of this out, cut it down and push it back into the hole?!?!

Mine plays back at a very low level--almost unable to hear anything. Is this normal?

Not a lot of reviews on products like these. I think it's a pretty cool, but admittedly very niche market. Are they thin enough that one might be able to wear them to listen to things while falling asleep? Particularly as a side sleeper?

Mine fell apart after a few months. The right side split open, button lost couldn't put it back together again. Other than that they were great while they lasted. Planned obsolescence/life span.?

Cheap. For some reason all Bluetooth devices for me charge until they don’t, and I need to switch chargers or USB outlets in my power strip. This one took an initial charge, but currently won’t re-charge. Back of head strap is too big. Third different brand that eventually fails.
