I would love it if you did something similar with kids in the background. This works great with casual conversations but screaming or crying kids is on a whole other level.
I have one gripe with these tests: obviously all the headsets are in a low bandwidth "mobile" mode, like f.e. talking over a smartphone. For testing methodology it would be nice if you also had the ability to test sound quality in HQ mode (talking over f.e. Cisco Webex or Microsoft Teams). These two modes are distinctly different, on the speakers AND microphone side. Just a hint. ✌️
Appreciate the feedback! We do these tests through a Windows computer on sound recorder, not sure if that makes a huge difference or not? We've tested on other apps like Zoom or Teams for example and the mic sound quality to us sounded the same. We'll add this to our future vivdeo list to record the audio on an app like you mentioned and you can tell us if the sound is different or not.
I got a Poly8225 on the back of this test and... It simply doesn't block ANY outside noise on the call. Everyone can hear anything going on behind me. I made my test with a loud TV not human voices so it might be that but I'm very confused at the difference in results... at 230 CAD$ it's a bit of a disappointement....
1. Did you purchased from an authorized reseller? (many gray market products sold online from unauthorized sources that don't perform the same) 2. Have you done any troubleshooting?

Thanks, this was helpful. You better should have positioned the mic above your lips to avoid distortion, especially on the Engage 40. For me, the UH38 had the overall best voice recording quality. But "the best" does not meant it's really good, they all sound mediocre but I think this is due to the massive processing.
Thanks for your feedback. All of these microphones use noise cancelling technology which comes at a slight sacrifice of the best pure voice quality, for the gain of reducing background noise to be heard clearly in typical work environments people work in (office, at home, on the go etc..). If you work in an environment with no background noise and you want the very best voice quality you can get, looking at a condenser type microphone would be a better way to go. But, most people needing an audio device for work typically don't go this direction.
is there additional software the need to be downloaded for these to work properly. I work on company computer where we ccan not download additional software
This testing was done without any software downloaded, we just plugged them in and hit record. There is software like neep.com you can get though to give you the best mic noise cancellation possible, but it would require your company to approve a software download.
No matter which model you go with, none will be perfect. Your best bet may be the Orosound Tilde Pro. headsetadvisor.com/products/orosound-tilde-pro-bluetooth-noisecancelling-headset?_pos=1&_psq=tilde&_ss=e&_v=1.0
