A agreee, First Bruce, second Tom Fogerty and then a big gap and the rest. One of the better shadows style rhythm guitarists was the Croatian player Rudi Šimunec from Crveni koralji Zagreb
The Ventures and Shadows are instrumental bands with very different backgrounds and styles. Both were responsible, in large part, for inspiring many of today's great guitarists wanting to learn to play.
Ventures arranged my first gig in Japan in the 70's and I'm still here thanks guys ! RIP everyone - Don is still with us but retired on his 54th Japan tour a few years ago. The band still tours played 35 shows here 2 years ago.
Loved it !!!!. Let's face it (shit happens)!. As a musician anything can happen to your gear unexpectedly !. These guys made the crowd laugh with them instead of freaking out & making the crowd nervous for them (well done)!!!!.
Bruce, We love you in the US. Come out of retirement and come visit us! Also, you have to publish a book of the rhythm chords for your songs.... wouldn't you..... Could you? At least consider it as a request from one of your biggest fans.
The same thing happened to Hank when our little local band went to watch the original Shads at the East Ham Granada in the 60s. The tape broke on his Vox " long tom " echo-box, but there was such a slap-back echo in there (I know, we played there), that probably nobody in the audience that wasn't a gear-freak really noticed. We'd so looked forward to hearing the famous Vox/Meazzi " stunt incidentals" sound live, but in the end, the group's tremendous performance made that unimportant, they just surfed the house. ambience. Chet Atkins was right, it's the man that makes the sound, the gear doesn't play itself.
Black and white 1940s film would have been Casablanca. I remember Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman were dancing to it during one of the pre-war Parisian scenes.
Jet Harris played Bass Guitar on the recording although the cover of “Out Of The Shadows” does show Brian ‘Licorice’ Locking, Jet played on the majority of the tracks on this album.
Agreed. Bruce is a fun E guy. The Ventures shooda dun mora this kinda stuff. Don't think they ever even mention the Shads or any 1 they "ran into" anywhere.
Dummy.Of course, it had a Latin rhythm. It's a Mexican song. Cugat was one of the first to chart the instrumental version in 1940. Desi Arnaz scored in '41 with the Spanish lyrics in a movie.
Hi, Al...nice to hear from you. The shads were a very different band with entirely different roots than The Ventures. I enjoy & appreciate both bands. We could have a deep chat about this sometime, if you like. I still watch the DVD you guys did with Nokie and the CD you recorded is great too. Are you still playin w/your band?
If you just want to hear Perfidia without the jokes jump to 4:25. Bruce is so right....The Ventures' version of Perfidia is a lot better than the Shadows' cha-cha version.
I love both versions. They both were outstanding groups.
for sure
Bruce Welsh is probably one of the best rhythm guitarists in classic rock ever! And what an entertainer too!

Big thanks to Bruce and the guys, wow what a great live performance with some comedy thrown in, absolutely brilliant, love this!
Lively and nostalgic, evergreen appeal!

That impeccable Bruce Welch Humor.
All in that was wonderful ❤
Brilliant, never tire listening to this, as if Cliff is singing.
Love the shadows version of Perdidia
This is a great rendition!!!
A star performance by experts who know their stuff. I could listen to this live music for the next decade and more. JohnH

Thanks for sharing this old favourite !
It is amazing how music and beat arrangements either make or break a song.
Fantastic!!!
How to make a success of disaster. If only politicians had that talent. Wonderful.
Too funny! Great rapport during technical difficulties. Ultimately a nice version of the tune.
Bruce is one great rhythm guitarist.
the best !!!
A good Perfidia instrumental and funny entertainer I loved it!! :))

Amazing
Really Good !
Phil rocked it!
Utterly Brill !
The Shadows version showed real class, with Brian's little breaks.

Ian Baxter Great comment, Ian. I love hearing stories like this. The onstage banter by Bruce, in this case, is priceless. :-)

My First Single was long tall Sally by the fab 4 and my Second one was perfides by the shadows
The greatest version ever.
1 9 6 2------------------------from ''Out of the Shadows'' album with Brian Licorice Locking on Bass (RIP).
This is Alan Jones on bass, he played with the Shadows, and retired from gigs last year
Jet Harris played Bass Guitar on the recording although the cover of “Out Of The Shadows” does show Brian ‘Licorice’ Locking, Jet played on the majority of the tracks on this album.

INTERESTING/ENJ☺YABLE!✌

There is nothing worse than equipment failure...so hard to recover in front of a crowd.

I can't work out if you're trying to be funny... or you're just plain illiterate. Write properly please.
In fact it never looked to me like the Ventures were havin a good tyme onstage.
"Fish make love in water"... W C Fields
There are some really good editing programs out there,.....just saying!
I left this in ON PURPOSE, and I use several different video editing software programs.
Shadows version is more soothing and ventures is more of a rock
Hey Walt, 195k views. Time to post the Nokie/Billie video’s from New Holstein, Wi.
why?
@@wstagner why not. People want to watch Nokie playing guitar.
rite. not us....just him
4:25 Finally begin...
No Hank, no Shadows
Much better than the Ventures and Shadows versions.
👏🏻🥇👏🏻
When you guys quit playing, the world will be a much worse place
Enrolou.demorou
Listen to this I think Hank is the best
Really !

what a mess, they make a joke of it but they are far more less in guitartechniqie then the ventures.

Bruce..please retire.
Bruce Welch is famous for talking too much.
My gosh, what an utter waste of time. Go and listen to the Ventures' version instead.
You do have the record, don't you?
Sounds awful mate!!!
