I dont know if it's morbid curiosity, but i would love to see a sequel/dlc where the "infection" actually managed to make it to the mainland.
It's not literally this, but... Phoenix Point is an X-com style strategy game in which the world is getting taken over by what amounts to eldritch monstrosity biomass. People were drawn into the sea then returned infected by a virus that mutated them into weird sea creature mutants.

While it would be cool it would defeat the whole moral of the story. About sacrificing yourself physically for the good (dying l) instead of for the bad (rennick and addair becoming monsters)
@@DGneoseeker1 I went all in on pheonix point... Sady... it failed hard to live up to its promised hype. Which was a fucking shame as I loved its concept...
