I hope you all went on to enjoy this Story Explained! Seems as though I mentioned that it was September and also 1995. Must have been an error in the script writing, but it's infact Christmas and is 1975... Appologies, but enjoy the video none the less!
I don't say this often, but this game needs to be made into a movie. If done right it would be so good and such a good horror story.

omg. This game definitely deserves higher than 6. It is worthy of an 8 at the least. This is not just a game, it is an experience, and an unforgettable one at that.

This is a very nice overview!
I feel like if you tried to go a little more in depth about the crew it'd sell the horror of it more because each monster is someone you've interacted with in the prologue. Trots is some kinda union rep wanting to make things better for the crew. Muir is one of the guys on the deck and seems in some sort of authoritative role especially since his monster self is always saying "no running". Addair is a UK nationalist and has an negative interaction with Caz at the start which indicates why he's so antagonistic "Up to old tricks again, McLeary?" sorta thing. Rennick is self explanitory, but I think there's context clues that indicate that he was already changing by time the chopper leaves with "don't touch the stuff" and he sort of grunts like he's in pain or struggling with Archie in the copter. Roper is the engineer Caz talks to on his way to get fired saying he doesn't see him often this way and then we find him back where he's "supposed" to be. We know why O'Connor of all people is stuck as he is, as Caz hears that O'Connor couldn't run anymore because his leg got hurt. The two bodies you find in the water are also the ones who called Caz saying the area was flooding and they can't breathe. Raffs is who Brodie was supposed to take care of since it was his first dive and you eventually find the diving bell again towards the end of the game where it shows that Raffs sort of 'exploded' outwards from the door into meat mass. Brodie himself then spends the rest of the game sort of 'taking care' of Caz and Finlay to keep the rig floating. Of course Finaly is our story coming full circle in handing Caz back his lighter and calling him a "life saver" and that she's always fuckin' right.
It's a story about consequence and the resolution is Caz deciding to finally stop running. From the creature and from his mistake on the mainland. He did right by Suze and the girls in dying to protect them.
The horror of it is that these characters KNOW each other. This isn't just coworkers you kinda know. They've lived and ate and worked alongside each other for months and the horror of hearing the deaths and seeing what they become. Horror is best when it says the least. The tragedy hits its peak when Suze is narrating her second letter, because it's a letter Caz will never see. He died thinking his wife was leaving him.
Fuckn love this game.
Not many endings end with the main character dying in games but the game is realistic on real life nobody would be able to survive this
Rennick and Addair properly deserved what they got honestly, i mean Rennick was a big headed boss who is just a rude and just overall overreacts you could say. While Addair was rude to Caz at the start and is clearly hated by nearly everyone, not to mention if you go into his cabin he has a National front poster in his room.
For those who don't know, just to sum it up a lil bit, the National Front is a fascist political party in the United Kingdom.

I agree, a definite 10/10 for me as well. This game perfectly conveys the feeling of an ordinary man faced with extraordinary circumstances and in the end, making the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of the world and the ones he loves. A true HERO in every sense of the word, and my FAVORITE game of 2024 so far! Hopefully, future DLC will explore any investigation into the aftermath which would be extremely cool to play.
I thought it took place in the 70's.
Just finished the game & absolutely loved it! 10/10 reminded me of "The Thing" but on a rig.. thinking of playing though it again.. 🤘
