As a kid who was alienated from one parent by the other, the wife is causing so much harm to those kids. Seven years of on and off therapy and I’m still suffering from the manipulation my mother did to me after her messy divorce with my father. I’m no contact with her and live with my father now, but the manipulation runs deep still.

And divorce is allowed by either party in Islam so it's never an embarrassment, I saw plenty of divorce growing up in Muslim community and plenty of remarriages. But drinking and premarital sex always resulted in embarrassment.

The only thing I can tell OP is to keep connecting with your kids, even if they are hostile because of your wife's lies. Kids grow up and figure things out for themselves eventually. Get them into therapy if you can. I've seen this happen in a number of divorces where one of the partners tried poisoning the kids' minds. Kids figure it out pretty quickly when you hang in there. Don't know how bad the courts are towards divorcing parents and parental alienation. However, this is the right decision. If your kids blame you for it, so be it. I had the luxury of being a SAHM when the kids were little. But when the kids were in school full time, I slowly started going back to work. First part time, then full time. Child care is expensive. We didn't have a second car. Vacations were camping instead of beach resorts. Shopping at thrift stores, no going amount to eat. Completely possible as hubby made decent money. But not always fun.
Someone in the comments of the previous video on this topic wondered if she had a life insurance policy taken out in his name and I can't help but wonder the same. (although I know in the US, it gets harder to get insurance policies with certain health conditions.) It's absolutely trash that his mom is more focused on the shame of divorce rather than the reason why he's divorcing her. When my grandma divorced my grandpa, she fed her kids a whole load of BS, claiming that he had a drinking problem (he didn't), and telling them that he was "always abandoning the family" because his job required a lot of business trips. To be fair, my grandpa probably could've been better about going on fewer business trips and spending more time with his kids, but this was the '50s and '60s, so the only socially acceptable way for a father to show that he loved his kids was to work and earn money for the family. Anyhoo, my point is, my dad's in his '70s and he still buys my grandma's BS and resents my grandpa for "abandoning" him. My paternal aunts and uncles all figured out what was what decades ago, but I guess some people like my dad are gullible enough that they just stay in their parental-manipulation-enduced delulu their whole lives.

Husband has always worked tons. Lots of sacrifices for us. I decided I wanted to work more and him less. It was my decision. Husband not always takes me up on it. But likes to not have the pressure of working to pay bills. He has more freedom and I love giving him that 🥰

This bloody hurts. I hope there is another update where the kids side with him, but I don't know. They are too young for OP to be able to properly explain everything to them, while the mother (now that's she's unemployed) is just free to poison that well. Honestly, you need to take your kids to therapy and get the help of a professional to better explain things to them.
Tell the kids the real truth, do not sugar coat it. You have to, for your own sake. You have heart problems that prevents you from working 100%. And it was okay because their mom helped with finances. Then she quit her job because she wanted to be a housewife, to keep the house clean, tend the kids, and be a loyal wife. The problem is that the family cannot afford her to quit the job because that would mean that you would have to increase your hours, and that would put your life in jeopardy. You tried for a long time to convince her and she just quit her job. This made you mad because she didn't care if she was hurting you just for her to be lazy. And she was lazy because instead of tending the kids and house, she was watching tv. Tell them that what she did was wrong and to tell them lies was also wrong. You wouldn't have said anything, but you have to protect your good name as well as your life. Tell them that the only reason why you work is so that the kids always had food on the table and didn't sleep in the streets, and that her quitting her job, made it too hard for you to handle on your own. I understand telling this to your kids is alienating them against their mother, but the mother had already done so. I would also tell the lawyer what she had done to manipulate your family. As for the mother of OP, she can take a long walk off a short cliff.
OP, print out your Reddit posts and give them to your kids and parents. Let parents reach out to you. Try to stay in touch with kids as much as possible. At least this way, God forbid your health condition goes south due to the stress inflicted on you by your wife, that the truth is in their hands and they can determine for themselves what happened. That's the worst case. Hopefully it helps straighten out the mess before it gets to that point.
If I were OP I'd have my attorney file to have the stbx move out of the marital home and full custody of the kids till the divorce is finalized due to emotional manipulation and alienation of affection.....then I would get those kids in therapy because MOM is a nut case.
This wasn't much of an update. Three big flaws with OP are wearing rose colored glasses, procrastination & denial. Those behaviors are the reasons why his wife was able to turn everyone 100% against him. Because OP was in denial, not acknowledging or accepting the reality of the situation, he omitted key information from his parents regarding the wife's behavior. Once OP finally acknowledged reality, he took his time seeking legal help. OP needs to stop talking to his mother & MIL. OP needs to talk directly to his dad w/out his mom present, to find out his the family is really against him or just following social protocol. OP needs to stop telling his wife what he's going to do before he does it. OP needs to talk to a good attorney about getting full custody & avoid paying his wife alimony, if possible. OP also needs to consider putting his kids into therapy, considering all the emotional trauma the wife keeps putting the kids through
STORY 1 - ESH the wife was clear on what she wanted/needed and was shot down without negotiation and the the op expected her to "get over it", when she then went against his refusal because he didn't have the right to make it alone he was upset she thought he'd just "get over it". Neither party communicated, compromised or worked together OP said she ignored my husbandly firm NO and so divorce is my manipulation tactic to get her to change her stance. And she said I'll just do it and try to make him see my way with manipulation. Seven years of on and off therapy and I’m still suffering from the manipulation my mother did to me after her messy divorce with my father. Don't know how bad the courts are towards divorcing parents and parental alienation. However, this is the right decision. If your kids blame you for it, so be it. So typically in the culture women are expected to handle all of the childcare and household chores regardless of if they work. I'm honestly wondering if she was burnt out. I had the luxury of being a SAHM when the kids were little. But when the kids were in school full time, I slowly started going back to work. First part time, then full time. Child care is expensive.
We didn't have a second car. Vacations were camping instead of beach resorts. Shopping at thrift stores, no going amount to eat. Completely possible as hubby made decent money. But not always fun.

When my grandma divorced my grandpa, she fed her kids a whole load of BS, claiming that he had a drinking problem (he didn't), and telling them that he was "always abandoning the family" because his job required a lot of business trips. To be fair, my grandpa probably could've been better about going on fewer business trips and spending more time with his kids, but this was the '50s and '60s, so the only socially acceptable way for a father to show that he loved his kids was to work and earn money for the family. Anyhoo, my point is, my dad's in his '70s and he still buys my grandma's BS and resents my grandpa for "abandoning" him. My paternal aunts and uncles all figured out what was what decades ago, but I guess some people like my dad are gullible enough that they just stay in their parental-manipulation-enduced delulu their whole lives.

She just cares about her way and goes psychotic when everything falls apart and she's not going to get her way. Of course she didn't like op calling her out nor that op stopped her from trying turn their daughter against op. So then she goes crying to op's mom again and nor that she lied about op planning to abandon the kids. She's doing what she can to get back at op for not letting her be lazy like she wants and stop the divorce. Op NEEDS to sue her for defamation and parental alienation because she's not going to stop til she ruins op's life just for her not getting her way to be lazy and not work.
I hope OP gets full custody, and I hope he changes his life insurance policy to his children because I’m really worried about the guy.

Based on that final update, it sounds like she wants to be more of a sugar baby than a trad wife. But even sugar babies work harder than STBX, and I hope OP can sue for parental alienation
This bloody hurts. I hope there is another update where the kids side with him, but I don't know. They are too young for OP to be able to properly explain everything to them, while the mother (now that's she's unemployed) is just free to poison that well. Honestly, you need to take your kids to therapy and get the help of a professional to better explain things to them.
Definitely don’t give up and do NOT give in to that woman. Collect evidence and find the best-worst lawyer.

Tell the kids the real truth, do not sugar coat it. You have to, for your own sake. You have heart problems that prevents you from working 100%. And it was okay because their mom helped with finances. Then she quit her job because she wanted to be a housewife, to keep the house clean, tend the kids, and be a loyal wife. The problem is that the family cannot afford her to quit the job because that would mean that you would have to increase your hours, and that would put your life in jeopardy. You tried for a long time to convince her and she just quit her job. This made you mad because she didn't care if she was hurting you just for her to be lazy. And she was lazy because instead of tending the kids and house, she was watching tv. Tell them that what she did was wrong and to tell them lies was also wrong. You wouldn't have said anything, but you have to protect your good name as well as your life. Tell them that the only reason why you work is so that the kids always had food on the table and didn't sleep in the streets, and that her quitting her job, made it too hard for you to handle on your own. I understand telling this to your kids is alienating them against their mother, but the mother had already done so. I would also tell the lawyer what she had done to manipulate your family. As for the mother of OP, she can take a long walk off a short cliff.
OP, print out your Reddit posts and give them to your kids and parents.
Let parents reach out to you. Try to stay in touch with kids as much as possible.
At least this way, God forbid your health condition goes south due to the stress inflicted on you by your wife, that the truth is in their hands and they can determine for themselves what happened. That's the worst case.

If I were OP I'd have my attorney file to have the stbx move out of the marital home and full custody of the kids till the divorce is finalized due to emotional manipulation and alienation of affection.....then I would get those kids in therapy because MOM is a nut case.
This wasn't much of an update. Three big flaws with OP are wearing rose colored glasses, procrastination & denial. Those behaviors are the reasons why his wife was able to turn everyone 100% against him. Because OP was in denial, not acknowledging or accepting the reality of the situation, he omitted key information from his parents regarding the wife's behavior. Once OP finally acknowledged reality, he took his time seeking legal help. OP needs to stop talking to his mother & MIL. OP needs to talk directly to his dad w/out his mom present, to find out his the family is really against him or just following social protocol. OP needs to stop telling his wife what he's going to do before he does it. OP needs to talk to a good attorney about getting full custody & avoid paying his wife alimony, if possible. OP also needs to consider putting his kids into therapy, considering all the emotional trauma the wife keeps putting the kids through

STORY 1 - ESH
the wife was clear on what she wanted/needed and was shot down without negotiation and the the op expected her to "get over it", when she then went against his refusal because he didn't have the right to make it alone he was upset she thought he'd just "get over it". Neither party communicated, compromised or worked together OP said she ignored my husbandly firm NO and so divorce is my manipulation tactic to get her to change her stance. And she said I'll just do it and try to make him see my way with manipulation.
After finishing the final update it sounds like she needs mental help....and he needs to push for therapy with the kids after the divorce

He should file for a separation. EDIT...wow that escalated. OP has probably been a doormat for a long time. He's just noticing now that she is that selfish. She has a history to rely on that made her thing that her bold behavior would be tolerated.
Boy, did op ever realllly explain to the children about the situation/divorce at all?? He just got mad every time she manipulated the children. He ALWAYS at least 2 steps behind the wife action. It p1ssed me up listening op complaining that the children are mad at him. Dude, you're so slow. 🙄
s1: "she needed more time" as in "i'm going to keep staying a crappy SAHW forever because i dangled a carrot in front of your nose and you will follow it, packmule". like bruv, if all you can offer your husband/wife in a SAHS relationship can be gotten from literally anyone else, you're not doing it for the benefit of your family - you're doing it for the telenovelas and all-day butt-sitting. good luck OP, never give up on those kids. by the sounds of it, you're the last good role model they have.
