Agreed I think it becoming a mandatory policy of all hospitals to do both of Eternity and maternity test to confirm all information about the child's physical health is accurate as well as the information on their birth records is the most reasonable way to handle such a sensitive topic.
Honestly all hospitals should do DNA test upon birth and/or discharge of the patient. In my country, there was a case of babies getting switched in 2021. You'd think it was a joke, nope, the baby was actually switched. The sad thing was that the hospital gave the mum the run around for month. She fought hard and good thing her husband believed her gut feeling because she was right! The nurse did switched the baby by accident. Still accident or not, the hospital still got sued for how they handled the situation and they got some serious fines. I remember this case because my mum made a remark about how she was glad we were _never_ out of hers or our dad's sight when we were born.

I've heard this multiple times, still entertaining to hear. Whether the story is true or not, doesn't really matter to me. If it's not, that was some good piece of writing. If it is, OP got her revenge and I hope she's living her best life. Also, as much as it sucks for her former FIL and stepsister's ex, OP did save them from a lot more years of grief. Could she have exposed her ex sooner? Sure, but she won't be compensated for money owed to her. That wouldn't have been enough to just let her ex fall apart, she needs to be able to recover as well.
Story 2 - why is she traveling if she can’t afford a non refundable ticket and needs lodging? She needs to save her money because traveling requires extra money. People normally pay for food, transportation, entertainment, and unexpected/forgotten items (toothbrush, umbrella, phone charger, a jacket, aspirin etc.).
I think she was hoping to guilt trip OP into staying and hosting her anyway so she could have freebie hols. (tho obviously not freebie when you've paid for the flights, but...) I know flights can be ridiculously cheap here, especially if you're taking advantage of the deals they often offer, but I'd ask for proof that she actually booked and paid for it even still. Bc it does sound awfully suspect to me that she wants the whole thing paid for. Like she's been using OP all this time...

Re: story of OP's revenge on cheating ex-husband - the only novel I can think of that is this thorough is "The Life and Loves of a She Devil" by Fay Weldon. The protagonist completely destroys the life of her ex and his mistress. It's a rather amazing book, and this post is almost as determined and vengeful. Not that it's a bad thing.
Story 2: 16:26 you know what normal people do, when "they and their family have no money"? They don't plan expensive travels to another country! OP needs to throw away both Polly and "mutual friends" altogether, none of those are friends of OP. Edit: actually yeah, maybe Polly spun it differently for the mutual friends, those might be salvageable. Also, pretty sure Polly not booking anything for ages while actively discussing was her way of pressuring OP into buying those flights for her, in addition to hosting her in OP's home. And that's how "poor with no money" Polly hoped to afford the vacation. Which (pressure) could have been a unseen contributing factor in OP's mental state. Now when Polly realized she wasn't getting her free vacation, she decided to extort money for tickets "she already booked".
Story 1 - Sweet, sweet nuclear revenge. I love when a good plan comes together but the domino effect was even sweeter. Both affair partners in jail and Robert getting his ass beaten up twice? That's a moment where I would do a chef's kiss. If I were op I think I would have snitched Robert's location for having the audacity to ask for a place to lay low. It's obvious that Robert didn't learn anything from those two previous ass whoopings. Story 2 - NTA. It sounds like it's time to demote Polly to just an acquaintance. That noise isn't worth it. The other friends definitely don't have the full story but does that matter? They don't seem to care about hearing both sides so I'd reconsider some of those friendships too.
That 2nd story. These people are not friends to anyone. I had a friend of 10+years and we had a miscommunication about who would pay the #1000 UK. We didn't talk for 24 hours before I cracked and told her I was sorry, my fault, I would pay. She said I was about to call, this is silly, it was my fault, I will pay. We argued and apologised for about 20 minutes and we agreed to split the charge. I told her I was scared of losing her as a friend and she said she was not going to lose me over something as silly as money. That is a friend. Polly is just crazy and it took 10 years to notice lol.

90% i know the OP from the second story (that is, if the friend's name is not Polly and some things on the update were altered). If that's true, it's nuts 😆 For context: my city hosts a second university for foreigners, which is heavily frequented by non italians during the whole academic year (there are still typical courses too). It was actually designed for students from all around the world to enjoy their stay here and living the "student life" while meeting tons of different people. A lot of students from europe (erasmus) and extra europe study there for a semester or 1/2 years, especially if they study foreign languages specializing in italian (mainly)/french/spanish or economics and classical studies. I attended the other (way bigger) university here.
I'd like to think that I am better than that, however I have to admit that I would be one of those people going "update me, update me!". Even if I instead put down a thoughtful comment, in the back of my mind I would be screaming something else :p

Re: story of OP's revenge on cheating ex-husband - the only novel I can think of that is this thorough is "The Life and Loves of a She Devil" by Fay Weldon. The protagonist completely destroys the life of her ex and his mistress. It's a rather amazing book, and this post is almost as determined and vengeful. Not that it's a bad thing.

Story 2: 16:26 you know what normal people do, when "they and their family have no money"? They don't plan expensive travels to another country! OP needs to throw away both Polly and "mutual friends" altogether, none of those are friends of OP.
Edit: actually yeah, maybe Polly spun it differently for the mutual friends, those might be salvageable.
Also, pretty sure Polly not booking anything for ages while actively discussing was her way of pressuring OP into buying those flights for her, in addition to hosting her in OP's home. And that's how "poor with no money" Polly hoped to afford the vacation. Which (pressure) could have been a unseen contributing factor in OP's mental state. Now when Polly realized she wasn't getting her free vacation, she decided to extort money for tickets "she already booked".

Story 1: She didn't just nuke Robert. She nuked him, then nuked the ashes, then poured acid on anything that remained.
Story 1 - Sweet, sweet nuclear revenge. I love when a good plan comes together but the domino effect was even sweeter. Both affair partners in jail and Robert getting his ass beaten up twice? That's a moment where I would do a chef's kiss. If I were op I think I would have snitched Robert's location for having the audacity to ask for a place to lay low. It's obvious that Robert didn't learn anything from those two previous ass whoopings.
Story 2 - NTA. It sounds like it's time to demote Polly to just an acquaintance. That noise isn't worth it. The other friends definitely don't have the full story but does that matter? They don't seem to care about hearing both sides so I'd reconsider some of those friendships too.

That 2nd story. These people are not friends to anyone. I had a friend of 10+years and we had a miscommunication about who would pay the #1000 UK. We didn't talk for 24 hours before I cracked and told her I was sorry, my fault, I would pay. She said I was about to call, this is silly, it was my fault, I will pay. We argued and apologised for about 20 minutes and we agreed to split the charge. I told her I was scared of losing her as a friend and she said she was not going to lose me over something as silly as money.
That is a friend. Polly is just crazy and it took 10 years to notice lol.

Well that father gave his son his career, his bread in his hands, more than most of fathers can and do. And the son wasn't a 21yo..kid with crazy hormones..he was 30+. He betrayed his father, and that father must be between 55 and 65...what should he do now? No spouse, no son, and no employee. That son betrayed him on so many levels. That son should be punished according to muslim laws and it wouldn't be enough for the pain he caused his own father and that another innocent man, his brother in law. Terrible person. terrible

For context: my city hosts a second university for foreigners, which is heavily frequented by non italians during the whole academic year (there are still typical courses too). It was actually designed for students from all around the world to enjoy their stay here and living the "student life" while meeting tons of different people.
A lot of students from europe (erasmus) and extra europe study there for a semester or 1/2 years, especially if they study foreign languages specializing in italian (mainly)/french/spanish or economics and classical studies.
I attended the other (way bigger) university here.
I'd like to think that I am better than that, however I have to admit that I would be one of those people going "update me, update me!". Even if I instead put down a thoughtful comment, in the back of my mind I would be screaming something else :p
