The saddest thing, there are generations of recent past and future generations, who will never know his voice; his greatness. Those who remember him every day at noon, are very fortunate. He was one of a kind!

I began at 7 years old, working in my Dad's machine shop simply sweeping and cleaning his machines. Metal lathes, mills, drill presses, bandsaws and grinders would interfere with the clear reception. If memory serves me right, Mr. Harvey's noon show was at 12:30. We broke for lunch at noon, but would not turn on a single machine until we heard the conclusion of the show. Then later in the afternoon, the noisy shop became quiet as a church as we listened to "The Rest of the Story". I worked in that shop until I graduated at 18. I had learned to turn the material on the lathe without fear. I had learned to weld and sweat in that Texas summer heat. But the staple of my youth, the determining compass of my rearing, was Mr. Paul Harvey. He could make me laugh, tear up and swell with pride as he revealed stories of Americans that I thought could be my neighbors. He was a master at such a high level it left him without peers. But millions of fans. I think back to a simpler time when my biggest concern was getting better grades in school and finishing work in time to visit friends. Mr. Harvey was the cement that made me relate to my Dad. Our generation (born after 1955) are the most blessed in the history of the world. Most of us have never been in war, seen poverty that was so deep, the dust from abandoned and neglected farms would get caught in a wind storm and blind the eyes. Yet we saw a President killed when we were in 2nd grade. We saw the Viet Nam war escalate. We saw our moms leave home and go to work. We saw the President's brother killed on TV. We saw political riots unlike we had ever seen in America. We saw a man walk on the moon. Later we saw a President resign from office and when we graduated, the Viet Nam war was over and another. We had it good then and our entire lives. If anyone born in 1956 had problems that kept them from the abundance of wealth and privilege, it is likely something they did wrong. I'm thankful that through all those historical moments that Mr. Harvey chose to be a voice of reason.

One of the most thoughtful, articulate men I’ve ever listened to ! God bless , you will be missed. There will never be anyone that could tell a story like Paul Harvey.
I'm sure you weren't alone as a kid, but that why we grow up. Of course, the radical, socialist-progressives teaching our kids in grade school through college to "not" grow up and remain spoiled, rotten and demanding of the selfish desires.
There is no better radio announcer, story teller than Paul Harvey. God made one man to tell the world stories that where real and inspiring, a voice that glued your ears to the radio and listened with intensity. God has him standing at his right side, ready to tell us more stories of truth and wonder. Mr. Harvey is missed by millions.
My world would stop every weekday at 12:00 just to listen to this man for many many years as I was emulating my father's routine when I was younger I too became gleefully hooked for what seemed like a lifetime. I sure do miss the wonder that was Paul Harvey.
Like clockwork I would listen to him in my car having lunch at work I was blessed to Russian and had the opportunity to hear his news each and every day rest in peace paul.
He was our day's Poor Richard's Daily Diary. I was sooo blessed to have had him, especially in my formative years. My early bosses, co-workers, 'outside' sub-contractors and I, all listened to his broadcasts every single day for decades while building custom homes. After his noon-time airing, all was right with the world - at least for the rest of the day.
I agree, but it won't work now...with automated radio stations, and fancy tuners people don't want to hear some one like Paul Harvey..when a station airs something like that people just switch stations with a push of button. I grew up with Paul Harvey...I would not have wanted to change the station when he came on, but it would have taken a while to tune in a new station if I had.
@@almcallister6490, I disagree, as a truck driver, traveling the whole of the United States 48 contiguous states, I would search the radio for Paul Harvey. I've met many people around this great nation who felt the same way as I.
In my opinion, there's no other Commentator that could fill this man's shoes. Paul Harvey, I've listened to him and admired his style since I was 12 years old, I'm 70 now.
As a speech, Drama and Broadcast student at LSU and admittedly rank amateur in 1956 at a radio station in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I was assigned to assist Mr Harvey as he readied his daily ABC broadcast. I got there at about 6 am and he had already been there at least a couple of hours. What a great honor! I spent most of my time watching in awe and learning... he was all work and focus. I don't remember his even asking me to at least get him some water or paper or dial the phone. Complete self sufficiency! So, I got a dollar an hour to just be there...just in case. I treasure that memory and his kindness in Chicago when I was free-lancing there. It took me from that day to 1968 to finally make it to the ABC FM Network as newscaster and general assignments reporter for it and the other three radio networks of American Broadcasting. He was one of the greats who inspired be to continue my career in broadcasting and there I was, working at the same network with PAUL HARVEY! But never again as an "assistant" again. Colleague, yes...certainly but more a FAN of one of the great "originals" who will never be duplicated no matter how many copy or try to imitate or replace him!
I drove for Village Cab in Oak Park, Il. part time in the mid 1960's while I was in flight school. It was my privilege to drive Mr. Harvey to O'Hare on 2 separate occasions. He was a gracious, kind man! He liked to ask questions and he was a good listener. He could have had a limousine but didn't mind my taxi. He was a good tipper, but didn't overdo it. That's all I remember.
Amen bro, well said.. he will be missed, some of the best times in my life we're sitting down with my Grandparents listening to Paul Harvey when i was a kid living in South Carolina. Good times, good times.
Oh, I would love to hear Paul Harvey once again say “Hello Americans”. We lost a treasure when he passed. We lost someone who could captivate his listening audience with a story and the “Rest of the Story”. The tenor of his voice can never be forgotten, his civility and decency can never be discounted. He is the prime example of how radio should be today, yet those in the industry have seem to forgotten what it is all about, As Paul would say, “Good Day”.
I always had to make sure I was able to listen to him. As most of us thirsted for was his "Rest of the Story" segment which I under was written by Paul Jr..
My mother would tune him in on our AM station our of Seattle and I loved listening to him as well. Somehow the sound of the AM broadcast added to his magic.
I grew up listening to him around the lunch table on my dad's big black radio. He had that voice that held your attention...whether you were a child or adult. How we need his voice today.
I remember listening to his noon hour show on Armed Forces Radio while stationed in Viet Nam. We couldn't wait to hear that wonderful voice and that great ending. "Good Day".....
Thank you for your service!! I could not get in due to asthma. Am 41 so i went trucking at 21 as my way of supporting my friends and family who serve afar.
Such a National Treasure!!! It evokes such sweet memories hearing his voice coming over the static of the AM radio to hear this humorous and profound wisdom…there will never be another Paul Harvey…thank you sir for being such a vital part of that life journey 😊
Right after I graduated from high school in 1957, I moved to Glendale CA., found a job - and every day during lunch break, I would go to my car and listen to Mr. Harvey. There was a standing joke at the time--- A 14 year old 'sweet potato' told her mother that she wanted to marry Paul Harvey. The mother said -- You can't do that, he's only a common, tator.
I grew up with his voice on the radio...I'll be 57 in a few days and I am still in awe of his stories and the truths behind them. He was right, he will live on forever in the hearts and minds of those that care to listen. He has touched every one of us through our imaginations. Thank God for his time here in our country and thank you to whoever posts his broadcasts to keep his charcter prevolent.
The literary genius of Paul Harvey will probably never be repeated. His humbleness is flawless, his eloquence, grace, and poise, are next level intelligence . A 10 % usage is normal, he's 12-14 %
I remember back in the 1960's when I was a teenager working for some of the older folks in the neighborhood. One lady had a brother and his family visited regularly. Along about noon the old fellow would say he was going to go sit in the car because it was time for the Paul Harvey broadcast.
Thank you so much! It was his last sentence "Tomorrow is always better than today!" At 76, the negative news depresses more than inspires a person to think so
NOBODY like Paul Harvey!! What a gentleman. I have thoroughly enjoyed his broadcasts for many years. Wonderful to see such love and admiration for his beloved wife and son. ❤💞💕💖
It is sad to think that all those born after Feb. 28, 2009, the day Paul died, will never hear that perfect voice of wisdom and wit, will never hear the clean humor that doesn't exist today, will never put your life on hold to hear the opening words, "Hello America. This is Paul Harvey," or stay listening until, "And now, here is the rest of the story." From the first show I ever listened to until the last, Paul Harvey shaped my life forever for the good.
I'm a 38 year young, father of 4. My mom, who is 75, raised me by herself. I remember listening to Mr. Harvey every time we were in the car. I learned so much from his factual stories, over the years. When I learned of his passing, I was heart broken. The world lost a great great man that day. May he forever rest in peace. Thank you for sharing this video.
My mom said that my father listened to him every day, as did she. My husband and I also listened to him as well. What a treasure he was, and nobody has nor can take his place. Thank for sharing.
edwin storz at my job EVERY One at noon lunch time paused and came to a stop to hear the announcement of ‘Hello Americans ‘, on WWVA 1170 in Wheeling West Virginia, and now you know the rest of the story. Good Day.
I first heard Paul Harvey sitting in a Barber's chair 66 years ago, age 10 (1952) and was captivated by his wizardry with words; and remained so the rest of his life. Whenever possible I would arrange my schedule around his broadcasts. ....so missed!
“Stand by for NEWS!” Paul Harvey was the BEST! I would watch the time so, wouldn’t miss his program! Paul was a class act and true gentleman, that stood for high American values and the best of American culture. His reporting style was magical. His voice unmistakable. Loved narrations, Policeman, Fireman, Father, etc.!He is greatly missed!! GOOD DAY!!!!
The exit of such decency will never stand on stage or speak on the microphone with the honor he graced us with again, my ears and heart miss his offer of the "good day" and how I could use it with the garbage we have to wade through today on our multitude of media's
I miss listening to Paul Harvey, remember working in the oilfields in the San Juan basin, New Mexico..takes me home..miss the man's voice ,..like Casey Kasem too.😢👍
Also for me in the oil fields in the 80s in the four corners area every day at noon. Also as a young boy on TV in Oklahoma in the 60s. Equal with Walter Cronkite at least...”The rest of the story” was awesome
I remember being a kid in grade school, my dad was a carpenter, and if he was working in the area he would join me for lunch, as us young kids were allowed to come home to eat lunch. The first thing he would do when he walked in the door, would be to put on the radio and listen to Paul Harvey. In fact I don't thing he ever missed a Paul Harvey radio show. Years later I found myself listening to him on his daily radio shows, and now I realize how important of an influence he had on my life. God Bless you Mr. Harvey, their will never be another person who could convay the news better than you did,
grown up listening to Paul harvey in the summer time. his stories drew my attention. my grandma had the radio on am. it's nice to hear a comforting voice from my childhood!! he can never be replaced!! r.i.p. Paul harvey though you left the air waves for a better place, but thanks to you tube you are still with us
Many are the times I would notice someone arriving home in their car, or at the supermarket, park, then not get out of their vehicle for a few minutes. They appeared to just sit there. When I learned that they were finishing a Paul Harvey broadcast, I began to do the same thing. He was wise, talented, and good for our country. Now I am pleased to say that Mike Rowe is doing a similar thing. It is called THAT'S THE WAY I HEARD IT. I am glad he is doing this. I don't do much online but I do catch Mike on You Tube. Mike is not trying to be a Paul Harvey. They each have their own styles. But I appreciate that he is continuing a great tradition.
So glad I had the pleasure to tune into his radio show the last few years of his life. As a young man I learned alot from his "rest of the stories." A true gentleman and class act that we may never see the likes of again.
And he has his reward! I'm glad to have lived in an era where such men were respected in their own lifetimes. Now there are few such men, and there is little respect for any kind of "tradition".
If Paul Harvey said it or Billy Graham preached it, my momma lived it. Mr Harvey had multiple generations listening and learning every day. He is so missed when I turn the dial on my radio.
What a kindhearted address to his colleagues and what an inspiration to his listeners. I used to listen to that voice when I delivered papers as a kid, and it resonates even truer and louder and even more relative today!
My grandfather never missed a Paul Harvey's broadcast. I used to hate when he'd move the dial from my 80's top 40 pop rock to Harvey. Only later in life did I truly appreciate it. This speech is pure gold! "If life were logical, its men who would ride side saddle"
I LISTENED TO MR HARVEY AS A TEEN IN HIGH SCHOOL....1958...I WAS SO GLAD TO FIND HIM ON UA-cam TODAY 04/04/2019!!! SUCH RESPECT I HAVE ALWAYS HAD FOR THIS GREAT MAN!!! R.I.P. MR HARVEY, I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN YOU.
I remember going to work with my dad and we would always stop and get lunch and listen to Mr. Harvey. When possible in the Navy I'd catch him on the radio we had in the galley ( kitchen) I drove long haul and wasn't able to pass that radio lunch time on to my son... but 99% of the time was able to find him on the radio to hear the lunch time news even if it was rolling down the road. ... Thank you Sir and thank you for " the rest of the story" as well
Paul Harvey was the greatest master of giving us stories of tremendous wisdom and logic in a captivating way! Thank you Sir for all the knowledge that you have given us!
An absolute legend.. Absolutely couldn't wait for the Paul Harvey show to come on the radio waves.. His short reader Digest type stories were so entertaining. The man overflowed with moral Commentaries, I for one will miss , Paul Harvey.
As a kid, i always listened to Paul Harvey every morning when my dad took me to school. All the news and stories he told were so fascinating to me. Even when he did advertisements for a company, to me it would seem he would make that company so trustworthy to buy from. RIP Paul. Greatly missed.
Russell Makar yeah you said it's ,it so sad how so call news just want to gossip and be little politicians it's sad ! ( I think comedians just lost there jobs ! We asked for news and they try to entertain us ! )
I agree, and worse still is that those in the Comercial News industry, will not break from the pack to bring the news back to what it was in the days before 24 Hours of cable news feeds, competing with each other, and lowering the bar. In addition to this, the younger journalists have little/no experience, but at the same time have an opinion on everything.
All the more REASON RUSS FOR US TO TAKE THE FIGHT SIR !!!!!! IF YOU DONT STAND UP FOR ANYTHING YOU REPRESENT NOTHING....... not even you - yourself : (
Like reading the Reader's Digest in the old Days. I recall reading a Time? article about some event in the '70s and the Digest version some time later. The latter was better.
Those immortal words were never weaved together better by any human...."tomorrow ALWAYS has been better than today, and it still will be". The world is a better place for Paul Harvey having been in it, and generations were impacted by his unbelievable and unmatched gift to paint pictures for us with nothing but words. I wish my kids and grandkids could have experienced him.
I always looked forward to hearing Paul Harvey give his daily monologue and always he signed off with NOW you know the REST of the story. Those who didn’t have the pleasure of listening to his wisdom are forever at a loss.
I loved listening to this wise gentleman. No one will ever bring the news to you like Mr Harvey. I don’t listen or watch news today. Mr Harvey will never be replaced. RIP Mr Harvey.
I miss this man, his eloquence, his statesmanship, his candor, and his Passion. We need more people like him in our country today.

I'm sure you weren't alone as a kid, but that why we grow up. Of course, the radical, socialist-progressives teaching our kids in grade school through college to "not" grow up and remain spoiled, rotten and demanding of the selfish desires.
Same here!
I’ve listen to Paul Harvey for years. Thanks to UA-cam I get to hear him again.
❤
one like paul doesn"t come by very often, goood day
When a man reaches for the stars I only hope he does so with the humility of Harvey when he gets his hands on one.
if there is a god he is sitting at his side telling him stories
@Melinda Shriver sorry but faith isn't a virtue it's a failure of intellect. Belief without evidence is how people are controlled by others.
We need men like him now more then never now
He was our day's Poor Richard's Daily Diary.
Why don’t you be one then?
Yes common sense and fun stories He taught.
In my opinion, there's no other Commentator that could fill this man's shoes. Paul Harvey, I've listened to him and admired his style since I was 12 years old, I'm 70 now.
Mr Harvey...….you were simply the best...…...a national treasure, and you will be missed!!!
What an intelligent guy. I grew up listening to him. Always fascinating stories and the best delivery I have ever heard.
Paul Harvey was truly a representative man of the people and above all a man of god.
Amen bro, well said.. he will be missed, some of the best times in my life we're sitting down with my Grandparents listening to Paul Harvey when i was a kid living in South Carolina. Good times, good times.
steve jaubert
steve jaubert God not god.
God
Paul Harvey is (was) badass!!
I miss Paul Harvey so much. He was a regular part of my daily routie, for many years.
Same here
Me too..always searched the airwaves while on the delivery truck..somewhere around lunchtime usually..and he never let us down..
I always had to make sure I was able to listen to him. As most of us thirsted for was his "Rest of the Story" segment which I under was written by Paul Jr..
me too never be another one ☹
What a National Treasure! His voice and demeanor - will never be replicated.
He was the definition of class. His Saturday broacasts hooked me at 14 years old, on a little 250 watt local AM station, and I sure do miss him.
My mother would tune him in on our AM station our of Seattle and I loved listening to him as well. Somehow the sound of the AM broadcast added to his magic.
I listened to him on WABC AM at noon everyday!
Paul Harvey...... good day
Had a flashback listening to this. As a young boy my mother had him on everyday, no matter where she was in the house. Thank you for the memories! ☦️
He was the master of pace and the spoken word. A brilliant man.
I grew up listening to him around the lunch table on my dad's big black radio. He had that voice that held your attention...whether you were a child or adult. How we need his voice today.
We are a Poorer Society for his Passing
Jim what a wonderful statement
Indeed, he was a legend in Radio Broadcasting. There probably will never again be his like!
Well said Jim so true
and now for the rest of the story, Yes we are
We needed him cloned
One of the most inspiring speakers I ever heard in my life. Always loved hearing his spots on the radio and “Now you know the *rest* of the story…”
I could listen to Paul Harvey read the phone book and be riveted by it.
Very true, same here
Paul Harvey said he made up his mind to live forever. He does and will.
he would probably say everyone in this book has a story.here are some of them.
I used to listen to Paul Harvey in the military while stationed in Europe in the 70s and 80s. It was the start of every day. Thank you
probably the most wise and honorable man Ive ever heard speak publicly
Im 56 yrs Old....Paul H,is one of my All Time Human Hero's....What a Great Man !!!!
So eloquent...so humble.
Right after I graduated from high school in 1957, I moved to Glendale CA.,
found a job - and every day during lunch break, I would go to my car and listen to Mr. Harvey. There was a standing joke at the time---
A 14 year old 'sweet potato' told her mother that she wanted to marry
Paul Harvey. The mother said -- You can't do that, he's only a common, tator.
His pace and rhythm is unmatched
I grew up with his voice on the radio...I'll be 57 in a few days and I am still in awe of his stories and the truths behind them.
He was right, he will live on forever in the hearts and minds of those that care to listen. He has touched every one of us through our imaginations. Thank God for his time here in our country and thank you to whoever posts his broadcasts to keep his charcter prevolent.
Happy Birthday 🎂💝
GREW UP WITH "PAUL HARVEY NEWS" he was an HONEST MAN, easy to LISTEN TOO...
@Hello Davison how are you doing
The literary genius of Paul Harvey will probably never be repeated. His humbleness is flawless, his eloquence, grace, and poise, are next level intelligence . A 10 % usage is normal, he's 12-14 %
I remember back in the 1960's when I was a teenager working for some of the older folks in the neighborhood.
One lady had a brother and his family visited regularly. Along about noon the old fellow would say he was going to go sit in the car because it was time for the Paul Harvey broadcast.
Thank you so much! It was his last sentence "Tomorrow is always better than today!"
At 76, the negative news depresses more than inspires a person to think so
How in the world can 23 people dislike this presentation? How?
falcon19x A devil called “ignorance “
‘’And that is the rest of the story” loved listening to his stories on the radio. A national treasure !
@Hello Dennis how are you doing
We need his love, optism, and truth in today's journalism! Bring back real concern for your fellow Americans!
Well just bring back Conservative journalism ,,,
Live what you say. Say what you mean. Put your money where your mouth is. These are the lessons us and our children need to learn.
What a gift to have these videos from one of the wisest men in my lifetime.
I can still remember listening to Paul Harvey, and his voice still rings in my head, as i live out this day......
And that's the rest of the story!
edwin storz at my job EVERY One at noon lunch time paused and came to a stop to hear the announcement of ‘Hello Americans ‘, on WWVA 1170 in Wheeling West Virginia, and now you know the rest of the story. Good Day.
edwin storz Good day
I first heard Paul Harvey sitting in a Barber's chair 66 years ago, age 10 (1952) and was captivated by his wizardry with words; and remained so the rest of his life. Whenever possible I would arrange my schedule around his broadcasts. ....so missed!
I was always mezmorized by his voice, and couldn't wait to hear....
The rest of the story..
Amen
Discovering this today. I grew up on an Air Force Base in Japan with only access to American radio. Now we know the rest of the story.
I miss listening to Paul Harvey, remember working in the oilfields in the San Juan basin, New Mexico..takes me home..miss the man's voice ,..like Casey Kasem too.😢👍
crazy hourse I listened as often as I could while working in NM, WY, CO, OK, oil patch’s! Salute to Paul & you crazy hourse!!
Harvey, their will never be another person who could convay the news better than you did,
Now THIS was a great man.
grown up listening to Paul harvey in the summer time. his stories drew my attention. my grandma had the radio on am. it's nice to hear a comforting voice from my childhood!! he can never be replaced!!
This nation NEEDS him now more than ever...
An American treasure that CANNOT be replaced! Requiescat in.pace!! 😢
So glad I had the pleasure to tune into his radio show the last few years of his life. As a young man I learned alot from his "rest of the stories." A true gentleman and class act that we may never see the likes of again.
...So God made a radio broadcaster.
Wow, you still have a radio with dials ?
Listened to Paul afternoon after Vietnam....
Miss you Sir!
Am I ever glad this was recorded and shared with the world! Paul Harvey was a special gift from above. ❤️🙌🙏
Harvey.
When possible in the Navy I'd catch him on the radio we had in the galley ( kitchen)
I drove long haul and wasn't able to pass that radio lunch time on to my son... but 99% of the time was able to find him on the radio to hear the lunch time news even if it was rolling down the road. ... Thank you Sir and thank you for
" the rest of the story" as well
Beautiful to hear his voice as his emotions flickered across his face.
Paul Harvey was the greatest master of giving us stories of tremendous wisdom and logic in a captivating way! Thank you Sir for all the knowledge that you have given us!
He'll always be the GREATEST in the business. I sure do miss his verbal comfort.
The beauty of UA-cam. You can listen to his radio stories without commercial interruption.
An absolute legend..
Absolutely couldn't wait for the Paul Harvey show to come on the radio waves..
His short reader Digest type stories were so entertaining.
The man overflowed with moral Commentaries,
I for one will miss ,
Paul Harvey.
I Am whiteagle lop
As a kid, i always listened to Paul Harvey every morning when my dad took me to school. All the news and stories he told were so fascinating to me. Even when he did advertisements for a company, to me it would seem he would make that company so trustworthy to buy from. RIP Paul. Greatly missed.
If he knew how things are going today, he would be turning over in his grave. The news today is a disgrace.
In addition to this, the younger journalists have little/no experience, but at the same time have an opinion on everything.
the price of freedom those who choose not to respect
All the more REASON RUSS FOR US TO TAKE THE FIGHT SIR !!!!!! IF YOU DONT STAND UP FOR ANYTHING YOU REPRESENT NOTHING....... not even you - yourself : (
I'm glad he isn't living in today's time.. he was a good man...
I always listened for him during lunch hour in the 70s and so miss hearing his daily broadcast!
My grandfather used to love to listen to Paul Harvey and so did I
Like reading the Reader's Digest in the old Days. I recall reading a Time? article about some event in the '70s and the Digest version some time later. The latter was better.
And for the Rest of the Story..
I loved listening to him on Radio..he was GREAT.
I used to listen to him every day in the summer of 1986 at my grandmas. Great memories
This guy is a magnate. We have lost a dear son. He will not come back to us but, we will go to where he is. And that is the rest of the story.....
Well SAID sir!
@John Thompson,,I am so sorry for your pain. Yes, you will be with him again.
Just listening, all I wanted to do. His voice, his words. Took me back to my childhood. What a respectable human.
Yes priceless. Want to meet him on the other side
I always looked forward to hearing Paul Harvey give his daily monologue and always he signed off with NOW you know the REST of the story. Those who didn’t have the pleasure of listening to his wisdom are forever at a loss.
@Hello Carter how are you doing
That is why I ALLWAYS enjoyed listening to Paul Harvey
I loved listening to this wise gentleman. No one will ever bring the news to you like Mr Harvey. I don’t listen or watch news today. Mr Harvey will never be replaced. RIP Mr Harvey.
@Hello Christopher how are you doing
@@lydialas8756 hey hey, I’m good
@@christophersmithsr5545 Oh okay nice I hope we can get to know each other and can you suggest a way we can talk off here if you don't mind
