Yabushige didn’t want a translator so that John wouldn’t know that Yabushige was serving John up to Ishido as a sacrificial bargaining chip to save his own life.
Great analysis! I didn't even think about the angle of Torinaga being the one who really sent the shinobis. If that's the case, it really shows him as a master strategist of war.
Hello Hax! Finally back on the UA-cam reviews after watching and catching up to Shogun. I’ve followed you since the Westworld days and I am so glad I’m able to take your awesome input on this great show.
Mahalo for the awesome videos! Remember in Episode 2 when the Taiko reminisced with Toranaga that there was a time when Ochiba could have been betrothed to him? Also, before that, Toranaga & Ochiba shared a couple of glances?
Mahalo for the awesome comment, brother! It really feels like they have something between them, at one point I thought Yaechiyo was going to be revealed as Toranaga's child haha
Not flower, fallen leaves. What Mariko says to Ochiba about flowers is actually from the death poem of Gracia Hosokawa, the Catholic convert samurai that the character of Mariko is based on.
Great videos, really enjoy your theories/analysis! Please make a video on The Sympathizer, it is just as good as Shogun IMO in terms of acting and production, would love your analysis on this mini series!
Well done.. appreciate iate in depth analysis and review. I like the Toranaga master plan theory. It is very fascinating story and your points on Ishido getting g played by Ochiba and then the villain, and not taking responsibility is well placed. Can wo.en in this culture even take responsibility?
They never explained why Mariko was not at her home raising their son, as the wife of a powerful samurai would be doing. Why was she hanging around Toranaga's place to begin with when she had no title or standing other than being Buntaro's wife? There are other Japanese that know Portuguese, Toranaga wouldn't bother his top warrior's wife with such duty.
@samlanganke1262 True, but they could have drawn it out more. At least I would have liked it if they had. But better one great season than 8 mediocre seasons, I suppose.
I’m also sad it’s not going to continue, the team behind this deserves more opportunities to create magic! But I also love the above comment, one book is one book. History is history. 🔥
Hexdogma you make the same mistake over and over. Nobody ever speaks English in this story. Blackthorn and all the Japanese are only speaking Portuguese.
When Yabushige said "certainly" to John towards the beginning of the episode, I said to my friend, who was watching with me, that this really translated to "Whatever". 🤣
So, Mariko, is crimson sky… instead of sending an army… he sent one woman
The costume designer(s) have created such a beautiful collection
It singlehandedly could've made the series worth the watch
Rip to my queen mariko
It’s not fair 😭
"This series has been such a blast."
Nice

absolutely !

Absolutely, he is playing a game and it if this was Operation Crimson Sky... 10/10
The Arrows are 1000/10. The foreshadowing. The frame is a masterpiece.
Absolutely! Felt so powerful

Great to watch this incredible show with old friends 🥰
Love your breakdowns!! Found you during westworld.. keep up the great work!
Glad to have you back anomalyg :D
Best analysis in youtube!
Yabushige is my favourite too, lol. Not saying I don't like others, they're good too, but Yabushige provides the comedy.
The funniest dude and it's so effortless

I heard on a podcast that ochibas name means Flower, and that the leafless branch is a barb towards her power being fleeting or to be of no matter.
Oh snap, love this!

Mariko R.I.P. I mean 'ripped into pieces'. So sad ;(

They did. You weren't paying attention
@@phillyb8347OK. Why wasn't she at home? Why was she roaming around Osaka Castle in the beginning?

I'm very disappointed that this is a one season show. There's too much story to satisfactorily wrap it up in the one episode that's left.
One book is one book. History is history.
