I am sure there was enough to get by, but not on Sunday! I hiked all the way around Lake Waikaremoana. Did Copeland Pass, the Routeburn Track, Cape Reinga and all the way to Stewart Island. Great 4 months.
@johnjordan4647 wow. I guess the banks and woodshed were still operating at that stage. We meet a guy who's Dad worked in the bank of new south Wales. Said he could see his surfcasting rod from the bank and would close the bank if he got a fish.
@@cmortimernz I travelled the Cape back about then too. Funny, my brother then was manager of BNSW at Ruatoria. He loved the lifestyle, fishing, hunting, farming ... If you think it is wild now, imagine what it was like then! But he loved it 🙂
Very nice filming, especially given the demands of a group ride. I hitchhiked around the East Cape in ‘83; waited 4 hours for the first car and fortunately they stopped and gave me a lift! Long to go back!
Great high quality video there, must learn how to hold phone in one hand and cycle in the other. Highly recommend place to cycle ( or ride motorbikes).
So great to see our own country. We watch so much overseas content, places, on youtube. Love the East Cape. Iconic in places. Thanks so much.
@@barbarathomas2561 We sure are lucky to have all these options. Thanks

Thanks for taking us along for the ride. I drove around the east cape away back in 1976 on my first trip back to NZ after moving to Australia in 1974

From Oz … thanks very much for this video … it makes me think about planning an autumn trip over there … I’ll check out your other videos. Ian
Will worth it, and easy logistics. Always helps to have a loop

Gosh, I suspect there are more cars now. But I wonder if there are less shops. It's a shame to see small businesses shutting down.

We should do it again in another 4 years.
