- Addressing the nation for the first time as prime minister, Liz Truss insisted that the country could "ride out the storm" caused by the energy crisis.

Before she arrived in Downing Street to make that speech, stormy weather had made her journey to and from Balmoral to metaphorically "kiss hands" with the Queen a challenge in itself.
But once she was there she claimed that although it would not be easy to deal with the "severe global headwinds" that were "holding Britain back", she was determined to deliver.

Boris's downfall was down to a back stabber that had his greedy little eyes on his job.
Lucky his plan backfired and now isn't only not the PM but is also out a job as Liz was smart and didn't hire the filthy back stabber or put him anywhere he could do more harm.
It's funny how people banging on about a few broken rules and ignoring the fact that Boris had the hardest job of any prime minister as of yet and dealt with all the obstacles put Infront of him.
Brexit .... He got an agreement and put it to rest.
Covid ... Once the first country to push out the vaccine before any other country saving hundreds of thousands of lives. And fought against the EU to hand out the vaccines when it was developed for Great Britain. He also source large amounts of assistance, aid to companies and the self employed in the form of grants to prevent companies from collapsing and jobs being lost. Hence the reason many companies are still affloat. And he also helped individuals by forming new laws protecting tenants from eviction and furlough.
And also the Russian war he was the only country to stand up for the Ukrainians while Germany and the EU bulk bought gas funding the Russians war.
Yes Boris made mistake with covid with the partygate scandal and certainly will be remembered as a corrupt prime minister tarnished with minor petite scandals. But the fact of the matter is he dealt with the major challenges in hand and I'm not sure other leaders would have.

Can't find the source but I read somewhere that the average Brit pays 86p on every pound in tax... which is significantly worse than serfdom.
When you jot up of all the different taxes we pay on everyday items and services (not just income tax) it seems like a pretty plausible number. Where do we draw the line?

Average tax income in the UK is 22%. What else is there, VAT? That's another 20%. I'm barely halfway to your total of 86% and running out of road for what else to include...

I have returned to Britain every decade since 1967 cand twice in the last tn years,so have had a snap shot view of the changes. The way the Conservative Government has slowed progress is apparent. First Past the Post electoral systems in the UK and USA allied with free market principles to fund political parties have produced governments corrupted by donors. If Britain is to "unleash its potential" it will need to have governments supported by the majority of voters. Proportional Representation is necessary to arrest the decline.

It exists for a sole purpose; enriching those investors and themselves via the public purse. That’s it. That’s the deal. That’s why nothing ever gets done or resolved. The charities now want liss trust to resin with immediate effect as it is her direct responsibility to rectify this disaster by law and pay compensationT
his is short on the heals of Ricy Sunaks announcement in parliment that the government was making available 150 million to fully fund local authorities for mandatory grants for the severely disabled and blind children and adults for the purchase of essential electronic devices required by law.
The charities want to know if he will resign too for misleading parlment? Clearly the country wants a stop to this abuse of disabled blind people. Recover this money immediately and make al county councils receive this money in compliance with primary legislation. Has someone stolen this money in boris johnsons failed government? These people now must receive custodial sentences as its requirement of the law not political corruption in government.
