- Liz Truss became Britain’s prime minister on Tuesday, after Boris Johnson tendered his resignation to the Queen at Balmoral, and Truss visited the monarch at her Scottish residence shortly afterwards for confirmation of her appointment.

I understand how and liz became prime minister (by obtaining the majority of her party members’ votes ) but can we all focus on the fact that 80,000 people decided the leader of the uk which has a population of 67.22 million people (as of 2020). That’s 0.1 percent of the population.

I’ve lived in England 48 years and I’m still confused and in a kind of bewilderment that we all let this happen. People need to start voting in the general elections. Having said that all politicians are the same self-satisfying pillocks.
I mean, the fact she said “I campaigned as a conservative and will lead as a conservative” just proves it; she’s not gonna be a prime minister for all. If you’re Labour, Lib Dem, Green, we’ve gotta put up with the fact this next PM will again put Tory’s above everyone else and not treat working class families as equals.

Yes two private jet flights (I tracked it on FlightRadar). The jet flew to Scotland with Johnson, returned with him, then flew back with Truss, then finally returning. That 3 engined jet has an operating cost of £6,000 per hour (all inclusive). Were the 2 journeys really necessary? Could Johnson and Truss not have flown together; one sitting at the front and one at the back, just ignoring eachother. Ok, I know in the scheme of things; £24,000 may not be that significant but it's the governments attitude of just wasting tax payers money, while the rest of us struggle to pay essential utility bills.

@@droge192 The reason they don’t fly together is because of a security concern. You can’t have the outgoing and incoming prime ministers at risk on one aircraft if something were to happen.
