Good signing for our Wranglers!!!
I understand the Flames have never had a 1st overall but why everyone wanting to get rid of Anderssen and get back to the contending this way? For me I will never like the complete tank approach but that's just me. I've loved Anderssen sense he put the jersey on and the way he works regardless of pairings. Yes I understand he has a ton of value for the market right now. Just with the money Conny has made for the flames and what's available. I don't see the harm in not taking a gamble on that re-tool and add free agent players like goalie Kevin Lankinen. Instead of Devin Cooley perhaps or maybe some veteran guys like a JVR and see what happens with the kids coming up? Low risk 1 year contracts for both parties and if it works out then again sell at TDL or worst case put on waivers? I'm no scout or GM just curious and excited to see what Conny has instore for us Flames Fan. R.I.P. Johnny & Matthew Gaudreau hopefully we get a W on our 13th game of the season for you guys. Godbless everyone =)
It’s because to win a the Stanley cup you need a few game breaking players on your team. Since Calgary is not the rangers or Florida etc we can’t just attract them rn through free agency. Only way is to keep drafting high and trust in Conroy and company to pick the ground breaking players so we can win in the next 5-8 years finally.
Andersson's next contract, if he decides to stay in Calgary is likely going to be around $7.5-8.5M x 8, paying him big money.
The Flames contending window will likely coincide with his late 30s, at that cap hit. Which might not be the best use of their cap.
Moreover, Andersson's value is at an all time high, thanks to his great contract. This year is likely the best time to sell.
Finally, he had a bit of a down year last year. That's why a lot of Flames fans started seeing him more as a #3 rather than a top pairing defenseman.
Because every single team that has won tbe cup in the cao era outside of Detroit had a player they drafted in the top 5 on their team.
@@alid7192 not just one also multiple of them. That’s why it is a proven strategy to tank once you realize you are mid af. Especially when you are a team like Calgary who can’t pull guys during free agency. And once you get players like mcdavid on your team that will have the positive effect of attracting free agents.
They should sign Danny heatly
