I'm from the States, but I had to comment on an Englishman drinking Budweiser. Couldn't it have been a proper English IPA, ale, or even a Guinness, for the love of all that is old Blighty? The cold dinner was brutal, too, after a long ride. Where was the preparation and drinking of the all-important morning coffee (the nectar of the Gods) on such a beautiful morning? Otherwise, this was a great video of riding and sleeping in the rain. I appreciated how you detailed the tarp and sleeping setup/gear. You were as snug as a bug in a rug.
That was an impromptu trip (early days in making videos) so I was pleased to just survive! Thanks for watching
Just found your channel. I am new to bike packing. Your videos are interesting. Hello from Texas. Subscribed.
Hello and welcome from the UK! Thank you very much for your support. I hope I can be of assistance 👍🏻
Budweiser - you monster.
Thanks for the video and kit rundown
No problem 👍
nice video, leave for a bike ride and camping very soon. Got good ideas from your video. keep it up.
Thank you for your comment! I wish you well, and keep safe
sweet vid.. ride safe everyone !
Thank you Adam. Please DO watch my other videos. Thanks for your support👍
Great video! Just amazed how you setup the camera and took your own videos while doing stuff... Very interesting how you did it and superb editing... What model of drone you have Divum?
Thanks for watching Juan. I appreciate your support - Please do check out my other videos on my channel.
I use a DJI Mavic Air Drone. Its super light weight and compact.
I like the video and your optmistic approach. Are you happy with the Canyon hardtail on your backpacking trips? I‘m looking for a lightweight, offroad option and struggle between all the opportunities from gravel bikes to race fullys, like the Trek Supercaliber. Came to the conclusion that a hardtail might offer the best mix of weight, speed and comfort on long routes but missing experience.
First, thanks for watching.
I love my Canyon Exceed, it really does the job for what I want . It's lightweight and relatively simple (manual twist grip 1x). I'm not really a mtb rider, more road and triathlon experience.
If I was choosing again, my advice would simply be ask yourself how much proper off-road are you going to do that requires suspension? If it's minimal, go gravel but if you're really going all terrain, go mtb. That's because on the road and fire tracks a gravel will be faster. If you're not sure, just buy a cheap mtb and try it. Please watch my other vids for more. Hope this helps. 👍🏼
Quite late but what did you end up getting? I'm in the same spot, I'm looking to complement my gravel bike for those trips I do gnarlier gravel rides and HT mtb feels right.
I hope Fred answers you...🤞
Mudguards/fenders, why are they never used by bikepackers? Don't you and your kit get all muddy and wet without them?
Yep! Getting wet is part of it! But I always put my dry clothes etc in a dry bag for protection. Re, mud guards - It depends! On my mtd bike, I don't use them but on my Trek Madone I do. I hope it doesn't put you off. You could always choose dry weather in the summer 🤞🚴🏼♂️🌞
@@divum I have nothing against not using them, I'm just curious what's the benefit of not using them?
@@schizoid6673 I suppose weight is one issue (although most guards are pretty light weight). Another reason is possible clogging of debris/mud if off-road, but on balance I think it's probably better to have them!
What mounting system are you using for the handlebar bag? Great vid. Subscribed
Thanks very much for subscribing. That means a lot to me.
The Roswheel Attack handle bar bag comes with two attachment straps, but they don't stop the system flailing about, so I use two elastic bungees in addition! That does the job👍🏻
DIVUM thanks for the prompt response . I look forward to more of your inspirational Bikepacking adventures
Are bears and wolves a problem ?
I wish! ...By the turn of the 16th century, wolves were extinct in England. Bears for even longer.
how do you deal with tick and mosquitoes?
Ticks can be a problem in Norfolk but mosquitoes not so much. I use a good repellent with DEET
How's the mosquitoes mate?
No mosquitoes!
