Cherry Whirls, delicious shortbread for Christmas or anytime

These are a family favourite, a recipe that my mother would make every Christmas and also for special occasions. Here is the recipe, give it a try and I'm sure it will become one of your family favourites too!
CHERRY WHIRLS RECIPE
Ingredients:
250g butter
55g caster sugar
Vanilla essence
250g plain flour
Glace cherries for decoration
Method:
1.Cream butter and sugar add a few drops of vanilla essence
2. Beat in flour, mixing thoroughly
3. Using star nozzle, pipe mixture in whirls into paper cases
4. Bake in moderate oven 160c for 20 min.
5. when half cooked, remove from oven and add 1/2 glace cherry to top, return to oven to finish cooking.
6. Remove cases before serving.
Makes a great Christmas, simply place a few in a nice box, tin, or jar and you have a beautiful present that is always appreciated.
