Hi Linda - I haven’t been able to find a reliable source for the history of the name. I’m aware of the history of the Dorset button but the provenance of the Yorkshire button is a bit more murky. Cheers, Christine
Thank you Christine it turned out lovely, you have reminded me that I have a metal daisy maker that works in the same way. I must take it out and have a play. Safe travels home again 😊 - Jeanette
Hi Jeanette - enjoy making some with your metal template. I hadn’t made any in a while but am reminded how great they turn out and will be making more again soon. Cheers, Christine
@@createandcraftwithchristine it turns out one of the little spokes on my metal one has dislocated so I will be trying your way after all haha, have a great weekend :)
Sorry to hear that - always good to have a homemade option and I think the bendable cardboard makes it easier to slip to loops off at the end. Cheers, Christine
How serendipitous! I saw some Yorkshire buttons on Christina's video and was intrigued because I had never heard of them before. Thank you for your excellent demonstration and explanation. Somewhere in the crafty cupboard I have a Japanese flower loom, that I feel like might be a similar process. I have added this to my list of future crafting fun to dos. 😍
Look forward to seeing your take on these! I originally discovered them through Anne Brooke when taking part in her 52 flags collab which was great for exploring new techniques. Cheers, Christine
The variegated yarn definitely makes them extra fun. I tried one in a bobbly variegated yarn but unfortunately the bobbly bits obscured the ridges so it just looks like a ball button. Cheers, Christine
Thank you for this tutorial. I enjoyed watching you create this button and flower. I really want to give this a try. I think they are so pretty using the variegated wool. Safe travels back home. Hugs ❤️💕🙂
Thanks so much for watching abs for your comment Janet! I’m thrilled to have shared something you have heard of before as you have such an extensive repertoire of crafts! Enjoy these - they are addictive to make. Cheers, Christine
Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful technique. I had only watched half of your video when I ran off to purchase some thread to try this. I am going to make a button for one of my jackets. Greetings from France.
Your comment brought a big smile to my face and I hope you have as much fun with these as I do! I love France too - what region do you live in? Cheers, Christine
I'm just making some card templates for this n that and I remembered this video and it's the first one of yours that I watched whilst looking for yorkshire button flowers videos😁😁
Thank you for the tutorial! This button made a great finishing touch for my project :) If I use it again I think I'll want to be a little more careful about the spacing of the notches on my template, but at the yarn weight I was using it was pretty forgiving.
I just made my first Yorkshire button yesterday. I turned it into a magnetic needleminder. I purchased the template from Gina-B Silkworks in England. I love that you're template has the numbers on it.
What a quick easy little project that has so much bang to it. Absolutely beautiful. Thankyou so much for showing us that. That’s definitely a keeper for future projects. I like it a lot! ❤❤
I'm sure I can now make those ever-so-neat buttons because I made a whole bunch of wheels for my Kumihimo (and even taught it to elementary kids). These will be great projects for traveling. I was just about to spend over $25 to get wooden looms/circley things but now I don't need to. TFS!
Cardboard is a good and cheap way to begin making Yorkshire buttons. I have the two acrylic kits that Gina Barrett sells which covers a variety of sizes. Really teeny tiny ones, to quite large. A much better option if you want to make a lot of Yorkshire buttons. Especially the Yorkshire cactus pin cushion.
Brilliant! Guess what I’ll be doing this weekend! ❤
Can’t wait to see yours Tori! I am sure they will be like magical unicorns in wonderful bright colours! Cheers, Christine
I've never heard of a Yorkshire button, and I live in Derbyshire a county below Yorkshire 😯 I learn something new every day with you Christine lol.

Hi Christine, your button is just lovely, thankyou for sharing
Thanks Sue - I hope you enjoy making some. Cheers, Christine
Variegated thread is ❤. 😊. Will give this a try!
It’s a fun one to do and pretty quick if your circle template is small. Cheers, Christine
Thank you Christine it turned out lovely, you have reminded me that I have a metal daisy maker that works in the same way. I must take it out and have a play. Safe travels home again 😊

What a pretty little project. The coloured buttons would stand out really well on a plain wooden jacket or coat. Beautiful.
Great idea to use them on a wool jacket. They also make lovely brooches. Cheers, Christine
@@createandcraftwithchristine that would look very cool
Great tutorial 💕
Thanks Elizabeth for watching and commenting. Cheers, Christine
Must have a go at making these. They look great in the variegated colours 🥰

Thanks Linda! Definitely a great little addition to our embellishments boxes for slow stitch projects. Hugs, Christine 💛
Thanks for sharing, I think I'll try both ways too.
Isn’t it great when we can use something in different ways. Be warned - they are a bit addictive once you start! Cheers, Christine
@@createandcraftwithchristine that's okay, I think that I have a bunch of places I could use them on my projects right now
