Hello friends (old and new) - My name is Christine and I love slow stitching and crafting. I look forward to sharing my creative projects with you to provide inspiration and ideas. I love hearing from you in my comments and adore being part of such a supportive online creative community.
Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery winter visitors | stag birch snow vintage French buttons #slowstitching
Excited by the next prompt for Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery Field Notes, inspired by Edith Holden, which is the prompt of Winter Visitors. #Roxysjournalofstitchery
I’m using a Japanese fabric panel or tengui to collage onto a snowy scene created from a vintage quilted white pillow sham. The scene features a stag or buck (make deer) amongst a snowy birch forest.
I also share some beautiful antique or vintage French metal buttons that I received from Mac and Morgan on IG featuring stags and dogs. Love a mini vintage haul of haberdashery items.
With thanks as always to Sarah @roxycreationsbysarah and Rachel @roxycreations679 for hosting Roxys’s Journal of Stitchery and I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone will be slow stitching.
I hope you’re having a lovely weekend of creativity and slow stitch.
Cheers,
Christine

Absolutely love the stag fabric, Christine!
Great use of panel. Love it
Hi Christine, another great thrifty Thursday haul. I'll be watching to see what you make with these finds. TFS 😊
Here's an interesting tidbit: Male reindeer shed their antlers in the Autumn, while female reindeer keep their antlers through winter and don't shed them until spring. So, Rudolph and Santa's other reindeer are ALL FEMALE!
Hi Christine, 40 mins and I have to go but have to say that stag on quilted background is going so well ❣️👏🏼 your thread choice is perfect isn’t it? It really does make him looking as if he has turned his head…beautiful. Thanks, Trish. 🦋🌻🩵
These are lovely.❤🎉
Thanks so much - I’m glad you like them! 😊 cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Love that base quilted fabric it really does look like snow , wonderfull Christine ❤
I love this Christine - and what a great idea to re-position the stag 🧡🧡🧡
So beautiful! Christine, I glued my flowers on to a project, but when i embroidered on top, I had a hard time putting my needle through the material and dried glue. You don’t seem to have this problem, what did I do wrong?
What size scrap do you need for this size. Thanks 💕
Please cut the blue bit off the top of the antler . It’s driving my OCD nuts 🤦♀️🤣 and you’ve lost a bit of tree because it covers it. ❤ I love this piece xx
Wonderful piece❣...the brown bit you have cut off at the back of it's leg is the hock of the right leg 🤭
Beautiful creation ❣️❣️. Looking forward to see when you add more animals to your design.
How affective is the white pillow sham, clever idea.
What a great stag, I’ve put a fawn to one side that I was thinking of using but not sure about the back ground …. You’re so lucky having been to Japan it was on my bucket list for years . Look forwards to seeing your next video for this page TFS Christine xxx
I'm always amazed at the great bits and pieces you pick up ❤
What a genius way to change the composition of the panel to suit your vision Christine, it's just the first ten minutes of the video and I can already see it's going to look beautiful!
Thank you Christine for your video and sharing another amazing haul with us. It's so lovely to see all these glorious finds and know they are going to be loved and given a new lease of life. Always a pleasure to spend some time with you.
What a good idea💡. I am thinking of cutting the centre piece smaller (without the folded hem). That will reduce one layer of folded fabric to make stitching easier. The raw edges will be covered anyway.
I like that idea - it will definitely make the stitching easier! 😊 cheers and have fun, Christine 💙🧵🪡
What is that puff maker? I've never seen it before, nor heard of it. I turned on "closed captioning" to try and read what you called it. But cc says you said, "suff puff maker'. Is that a brand or sewing tool? Thanks for the tutorial.
Hi Maria - it’s called a yoyo maker or Suffolk puff maker. Clover makes them in different sizes and I believe there are “knock off” version too. Happy creating. Cheers, Christine
I know your family heirloom quit is for hanging, not actual use, but what dreams a sleeper would have if they were to fall asleep under it.
Now I just have to get to laying everything out and stitching everything down. We’re having a rainy weekend here so hopefully the opportunity will present. Hoping you’ve had a good week as you did you own version of TG with your daughter. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Always something unique in your hauls,Christine! Beautiful and lovely to pass some time in your company! Thank you very much ❤
Thank you my lovely friend - it’s fun to share our finds 💙🧵🪡
Love seeing all of your thrifted treasures. You certainly have a good eye for the sweetest items. The bobbin or tatted lace was exceptionally nice. I think I might have been drooling😉. Sure don't find treasures like these at my thrift stores. Thank you so much for sharing♥️🥰
Thanks Rebecca - I love when I find surprises too particularly when buying online and receiving a bunch of goodies 🤗
Some beautiful goodies ❤
Thanks Gillian - very happy with these finds 🤗 Hope you have a lovely weekend. Cheers, Christine
I thought if you put a horizontal stitch on the back at the point of the star you could put a paper clip or other wire on and use it as a decoration and take it out and use as a coaster later. Just came across you today and am glad to hear an Australian accent. Gold Coaster here. Summer hit here a month ago, then we had a few winter days just when everyone had put away their long pjs.🌲
Love that idea Caroline! Thanks so much for sharing and a big welcome to my virtual craft room. The weather really has been rather nutty here. We are experiencing QLD style humidity in a big way still. Cheers, Christine
I’ve had my plastic ones for at least 25 years. Lovely thrifty purchases
Good to know they last that long! 🤗
Another lovely haul Christine, I had to have a google at the Dunklings tin, like you say, it’s a jewellers, but apart from that, I can’t find anything else about it or what it contained. It’s a lovely keepsake though. ❤️
Thanks Sally - I’ve discovered some interesting things about the crest which changed the placement of the symbols which will help date this and also the date at which Dunklings started manufacturing in Australia so this was likely before that as bears Made in England insignia. Will do a little post on it and see if I can find out more from others.
Vicarious shopping, the best. ❤❤❤
Thanks Lucy 🤗 cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
A lovely haul, Christine! I especially loved the feeds sack hexies quilt piece! I’m wondering if the color on the Dresden plate quilt piece was transferred from the adjacent fabrics when folded? TFS!
Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed the haul! 🤗 and I think you could be right about the quilt piece 💛

I never cease to marvel at what you show us on Thrifty Thursday's. Another wonderful haul.
Thanks Linda - I amaze myself too when things like that Liberty panel pop out of a bag. Not always easy to see in a photo what treasure might be hiding in plain sight 🤗 Hope you’re having a good week and haven’t been impacted by Bert. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡

How to print template?
Depends what sort of printer program you use but you could just copy and paste the pentagon template which is available here onto a plain page and then print: ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx2EuSA1JB92Y-VanX2gWX8z-Qc9aaeO7l?feature=shared
Thank you
Glad you like this fun project Tineke 🤗
Thank you Christine for your video and for sharing this lovely idea. I was thinking of non Christmas mug rugs and how useful that will be. My old coasters are exactly that and well past their sell by date really. Why buy a whole new set just make some. You have my mind ticking over now.
I’m so happy this project had given you some ideas for your own version of mug rugs Carol 🤗 Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡

Hello Christine, what a cute and easy to make project! I was looking for something like this for my next door neighbor. She is a big fan of Dallas Cowboys team. I have 2 different pieces of DC fabric that came in a bundle pack from a thrift store and I’ve been saving them just for her. This project is just perfect to fullfill my purpose. Thank you!💙🤍
That sounds like a wonderful gift, I'm sure she'll love it! 🤗 Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
