THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I started growing pepper seeds a couple of weeks ago during the last frost and I had no idea where to go next. This is so helpful.
I would recommend putting a fan on your pepper plants in the green house. I started mine in an indoor box under a 600 watt mh with fans blowing on each side and it helped alot. Did it to my cayenne, serrano, and sweet peppers.
Thanks for a great step by step video, so thorough! I have a question though, could you transplant them from the seedling tray directly into 9” pot instead of in a 3” pot then to the 9”, or is this done for a specific reason? Thanks again
Thanks this is really useful. I planted mine around 2 weeks ago but no signs of life yet. Not sure that I’ve had enough heat to get them to germinate 🤷♂️
LearnHow2 thanks for the reply 😁 funny enough after watching your video I covered mine and now their breaking the surface nicely and making good progress. I was starting to worry it was a bad batch of seeds so I was pleased to see them appear. Keep safe and happy Easter 🐣
Bit late but with cayennes when they get to 30cm high pinch out the growing tip this makes the plant branch out to the side and you will get more chillies
Hi Paula. You will need fertilizer if your soil is poor. I used compost which had plenty of nutrients. The plants keep flowering after harvest however here in the UK the harvest is in Autumn so the new flowers dont have time to develop before the winter comes and kills the plants. Keep safe.
I'm not so sure. Seeds need oxygen to germinate. Also it would be very tricky not to damage the young seedlings in a flexible plastic bag. I use plastic food trays a lot eg fruit punnets, yoghurt cartons etc.
Thank you! A teaspoon might be better to lift the seedlings out, rather than a screwdriver. The "small hole" at 4:50 looks rather like the Grand Canyon...
Is it necessary to plant in a small pot first then transfer. Cant I just use my big pot from start to harvest. Also, after harvesting, what next. Do I uproot the roots and put new seeds or the plant will keep reproducing. Did you at anytime add fertilizer
You could plant a few seeds directly into a big pot and then thin them out. My plant kept flowering and reproducing until the weather got too cold. No I didnt add fertilizer. Just fresh compost.
I planted my cayennes about 5-6 months ago, in february. They´ve grown to about 12 inches but I don´t get any flowers on them, but loaaads of leaves. Could it be because my pot is too small? They haven´t stopped growing fyi
I recommend transferring it to a bigger pot as the plant size reflects the size of the pot. I also personally use worm castings for my plants and it helps with growth a lot.
tyler238 Makes sense. When a plant is low on water it’s biofilm suffers and it more susceptible to predators. Therefore, fire up the capsaicin! thanks for the tips guys.
For seeds and seedlings, they don't need to be watered daily. I've seen several people say you want the soil to dry a little and water them from the bottom (sit them in a tray of water and let it soak up through the holes in the bottom of the pot/cup).
I grow hundreds of plants each spring. I start them early, indoors, and find small pots easier to manage. As the weather starts to warm I transplant into larger pots and put outside in my green house. Keep safe.
Hi John. You can go straight to 9" pots. I grow several plants and have to move them in and out of the greenhouse in the early stages until the weather has warmed up. It is a lot easier for me to move 3" pots than 9" pots.
My Cayenne plant is producing fruit however none seem to be turning red. One is becoming large (5" or so but green) and then a later chilli that appeared a few weeks later is much smaller but turned red over a few days. Is this normal? How long does it take yours to go red?
Growing in a smaller pot is best for plenty of reasons. The main ones being smaller pots retain moisture better then larger pots and starting smaller then transplanting helps build a solid root structure. The stress caused by transplanting can be avoided with peat pots. (Even so stress isn't a huge deal at this stage) Just transfer the pot to a bigger grow space and the roots will grow through the peat pot with no problems.

Certainly a good advice. As wind is a factor that speeds photosynthesis.

Hi! Do the plants require direct sunlight when they've grown?

Yes you can! When planting a lot of seeds I find it easier to manage them in the greenhouse when they are in smaller pots.
Loved this video from starting to end beautifully explained. Thanks 😘

Best video yet. Thank you
This is kick ass!

Do the plants continue to produce peppers after plucking the ripe peppers?
Mine did until the weather got too cold and they began to die off.
You have to put fertilizer
Looking forward to following your channel

Mine died as it could not survive the winter here in the UK. Not sure what would happen in warmer climates.

Would it work if I planted only one or two seeds in a 10in pot to skip all of the repotting?
Hi Lorena. Yes plant 3 seeds in a pot and remove 2 plants if they all germinate. Keep safe.
Would you mind if I use the link to this video and include it as a link in my Ebook that I am producing?
Yes that is ok.
Is Cayenne a single year plant or can it be stored over winter?
Perbalter overwintered As Well!!!
@@Tyrashabrooks Thank you!
@@Tyrashabrooks I guess they will do well in the warmth of your Home over the winter months etc
You can but I've heard they dont produce as well the second year
shift it to indoor during winter , turn on the heater to create some warm
I live in Arizona and I was wondering should I water it everyday
They will withstand heat but dont let the roots dry out or on the other hand do not let the roots sit in water.
You know the normal drowning amount of water right? Water it that exact amount
This is a joke, dont actually do it
Do you recommend cold stratification?
The peppers can be ground up And cooked then strained to make your bottled Hot Sauce, There are great Videos on how to here on UA-cam etc

Hi Vanessa. Any general purpose or seed compost will do. Keep safe.
Is it at all possible to plant 2-3 in the 9 inch pots? I've got a lot growing but not enough larger pots to house them all
Hi Joe. They will grow but you are better off having one large plant than 3 stunted ones.
Thank you very much 🙏

do you just water them once then when they sprout then you water them again
No. Keep the seeds moist (but not waterlogged). This means to check the soil daily and water if it has gone dry.
@@LearnHow2 thanks so much i didnt think iwas going to get a reply atall . so i already did it i hope i get some big pepers this year

How often do you water it.
Everytime u feel it needs .. keep the soil moist but not soggy

You should get a rose head for the watering can
Also top the plant so it doesn’t need propping up
I only do that sometimes if the plant looks leggy. It really depends on how long your growing season is because toping it slows it’s growth down.

Sunlight and heat are the two requirements for successful ripening.
