      it can make the plastics brittle and hard.

    • @liammacarthur9618

      Better to sand it with increasing grit to avoid making the plastic brittle from heat

    • @Dreamscythe1
      @Dreamscythe1 4 роки тому +1

      as the others have said its a bad idea tbh. sanding it by hand is better, heat from a torch or heat gun is very likely to make it brittle. maybe not right now but in a few weeks it can even crack form getting hard. you really see it with fenders

    • @sidneypenner4007

      I tried it on bike fender and right away faded to a way whiter color. And the glossy surface soon started peeling off. I tried it on a trumpet hard hat and there o saw the results that are in this video. But I don’t suggest it for bike plastics.

  • @Noonenaught

    Whenever I've rebuilt bikes I always put the bolts back in loosely from where they came, saves a lot of time in the long run especially when you have similar bolts of different lengths, another tip is to search for "magic sponges" they're are very cheap and great for cleaning plastics, rubbers and all sorts else, they are essentially a very extremely fine abrasive sponge

  • @bobbyphillips2538
    @bobbyphillips2538 5 років тому +2

    I have a great tip for brightening up aluminum parts without the use of polishing tools or abrasives . Works best on parts with large smooth areas that are oxidized , like old mag wheels for cars. Saves much labor. There is a laundry detergent made for babies clothes and blankets called Dreft, Yes no typo..Dreft. A liquid detergent. Simply spray it on the surface, wait a few minutes,and rinse off. The trick is learning the proper amount of time to wait. Usually about 5 minutes. Too long and the opportunity to simply rinse off expires, too soon and it does not do enough to clean it up. But you can do no wrong. If you miss the sweet spot moment, let it dry and apply again. Dry is important. Always apply to a dry part or it does little good. Rubbing or scrubbing,and polishing is almost a thing of the past unless its to polish scratches from previous non-Dreft attempts. Works! Great for vintage engine cases that are not sand cast as Maicos are. Cleans them okay, but the best results come on parts like fork sliders,rims,hubs,cases, etc. Flat and polished but grey and oxydized becomes new with a spray and rinse.

Plus you can either choose to leave it original aluminium colour,or pick any of the thousands colours available.

    If I may recommend, use so called "Pickle paste" or "Pickling paste" on oxidated stainless. It's a mix of three acids, you brush it on your stainless exhaust and it'll remove all those faded yellow, brown colors and bring the original stainless silver shine back to life, works even better if rubbed with scotch brite afterwards. Make sure to cover aluminium parts as well as your hands and ears, respiratory protection is usefull too as it may be too harsh to breathe for some. Brush on, let sit for half an hour, wash off.

    My dirtbike got stolen and spray painted in 2017 so I repainted the plastics and I want to take off the paint. Any suggestions on how to get paint off of plastics

    That eagle 1 mag cleaner seems to be out of stock in a lot of places or not offered. I see it at Walmart for 12 and amazon for 21. It should be $5.

    So I accidentally bought the chrome cleaner Eagle one and I let it sit a bit too long and that parts started to turn white. Do you have this problem with the mag version?

    • @CameronNiemela
      @CameronNiemela  7 років тому

      Have not had that problem. If this cleaner sits for more than 15 minutes it'll turn the part black. But its meant to spray on, scrub, and rinse off.

      Cameron Niemela Got the mag cleaner, still did it. I was spraying it and letter it sit for 5 minutes without scrubbing and they were black. Followed your video better and it works great, thanks you da man.

    Cameron, does your parts washer use hot water ? If so how ? Also are you using the same electric pressure washer for the parts washer and when you pressure wash ? If you don`t have a video on all you equipment and how it`s setup you may want to consider making one. I would like to see how you did everything.....I can`t stop saying it, I just love this hustle you have going on..Also I`v learned a ton of stuff on cleaning my own bike...Great job on that frame it came out PERFECT !

      Nope, just cold water. Same pressure washer for the cabinet and pressure washing my bike outside. In earlier videos I showed more in depth of the cabinet and tank. Can't recall which one. Glad you're enjoying the vids!

      I use the hot water tank that is in my garage. The hot water tank is for the house but all of them have a hose bib fitting that you can use and get extreme hot water. Give it a try hot water is great for grease and dirt removal
