I just bought one of these rifles this weekend, sighted it in at 75 yrs. Three shots in a 3/8 inch group. Most accurate 22LR I have ever owned. Very happy with my purchase. 👍
Just took my Ruger precision rimfire 22lr out to the range for the first time. Found out it loves CCI mini mags and Aguila super extra high velocity. Both ammos grouped under 1 MOA at 50 yards. I’m very satisfied. CCI velocitors did not group very well but they do run hot. All chrono’d slightly above the printed fps on the box. One was 1489. Rippin! Winchester segmenting silvertips did horrible, but I think it was just poor consistency in the powder charge. Had some extreme flyers. Did not try any stingers as when I slid one into the chamber it would not fit all the way inside. CCI uppercuts same story. Case too long on both. Thats why theres a warning in the manual not to use them.
I first picked up my RPR around 6 months ago and had just picked up the new Vortex Diamondback Tactical to go with it. Went to see if I could shoot 300 yards with it, and sure enough I was hitting it! Guy trying to sight in his 300WinMag and having some trouble asked what I was shooting. When I told him, he grabbed his stuff and left. Lol
It would be real interesting to repeat this test using some high quality target 22lr that your particular rifle likes! CCI Mini-Mags can be real good or real mediocre, or at least that has been my experience over the past 50 years shooting it in both accurate rifles and pistols... Another 22lr ammunition that I have found to be "fairly" consistent is the Federal American Eagle 36 grain copper plated hollow point. More often than not, I have gotten decent accuracy/consistency over the years using that. When I finish getting my CZ 452 American set up the way I want it; it's been wearing a Leupold M8 4x that I've used on my 77' Marlin 39-A, which is torn down for a re-blue right now. The CZ will get a new scope and a 25 moa base and then I'll see about running a few target brands through it until I find one she likes, then maybe I'll try my luck at your 300 yard test! It was enjoyable watching your video my friend, thank you for taking the time and effort to put this together for our viewing pleasure!
You are only missing on the .22 because of the inconsistency of the velocity. If they were all the same you would have been right on but you can get 15-120fps deviation in velocity between the rounds depending on Ammo. If you have a good .22 that had 10-20fps deviation you would be all set. Great shooting!
Yeah, it's exacerbated by the low speed, wider extreme spread, and lower ballistic coefficients. These rounds are not for consistency beyond 100-150yrds.
yea for sure. you can buy .22 ammo that has very tight deviation just far more expensive rounds and most people are shooting it for how great it is on a budget... still fun to shoot that far and easier to find places u can shoot 300 as it equates to shooting larger calibers near 1000+ yards with wind and drop compensation.
I bought a rpr 22LR rifle 3x9x50 bushnell banner it shoots great 150 yards , I like your review very much I love the 223 your grouping very good regards TONY
Nice. I have taken my RPR 22LR out to 400 now. I have just upgraded to Burris XTR RINGS. To give me a total of 60 MOA so that I can have the full 30 mill of adjustment in my SWFA SS scope. I am now planning to shoot out 550- 600 yards with mine. 600 yards will be just over 76 feet of drop!!
Um 400 is pretty easy for me now, it wasn't at first. Why I want to go farther. Wind is very important. But I like shooting in wind. Even though you may only get 1 out of 10 to hit. If you can make contact in those conditions you can make contact any time. And it a ton of fun, expecially when you prove someone wrong when they say you can't do it LoL!!
Yes, I stated it right before I started shooting. It’s just cci standard velocity. Would’ve been even better with federal ultra match. Check out part 3
I found mine to be a pleasure to shoot. My 200 yard group was about 8" with lots of wind shooting Eley subsonic. I didn't try out to 300, I know the wind would have really caused trouble. I would to love to ring some steel out that far with a rimfire.
Pretty impressive with the 22 LR. I think a lot of the change in impact is just the variation in the ammo. It would be interesting to chrono it and see the velocity changes vs. where it hit on the plate. I still think CCI Standard Velocity is one of the best deals of the more accurate 22 ammo. Very nice group with the AR.
The missed rounds and the horizontal string with the LR seemed to relate directly to wind noise on the Mic although I didn't see much scrub movement at the target end......still impressive with shelf ammo. What was 223 bullet weight ?
Very good video. I have the same Ruger with an Athlon 6-24 scope. Can you tell me which bullet drop calculator you use. Some of the ones I seen show a 120” bullet drop at 300 yards. @@ElfstersRiflesandReloading, we have out range here in Ireland, and there was a record last month with a 22lr over a 1025 yards. RWS 100 was the ammunition. You won't get accuracy with cci standards, but grand for plinking, I use them in my Ruger competition pistol
Except there's long range .22lr competitions where people are consistently hitting 6" targets at 200 yards abs some further. .. but they're using sub sonic ammo. They do that to avoid trans-sonic destabilization. Since standard velocity. 22lr isn't much above super sonic at the muzzle, it goes sub sonic quickly, and tends to destabilize, destabilized bullets aren't very consistent, thus accuracy goes to poop.
It’s a fun little rifle for the money! Cz457 or tikka t1x is also something else to look at. Can usually get the RPR for $375. It does have some issues but it’s something I can work with as a trainer for my other RPR’s
That's the Harris notched leg 6-9inch swivel bipod. Yes, after about 1500 rounds I was having some extraction issue. Just call up ruger with the part number and they will send you one with an extra future replacement. Works great now
Nice to see .22LR can accurately hit targets at 300 yards. With enough force to spin the circle steel. I often use CCI .22LR for Steel Challenge matches. Good ammo for semi-auto pistols. CCI is always dependable ammo. I wonder if a 7.25" bull contour, match grade barrel, .22LR pistol would go 300 yards? With enough accuracy to hit targets like these?
Yeah, it’s crazy how one rifle of the same brand can like one type of ammo but the other will not. Really got to test that barrel! Thanks for the input!
Great shots! I'm pleased to see the RPRR is able to hit the gongs, that many times at 300 yards. But some other videos shows the RPRR (22LR ) performing the opposite. These conflicting videos makes me feel lukewarm towards the RPRR. Nonetheless, I enjoy the video. I'm surprised the the scope base is 30 MOA. I was expecting a 0 MOA for a rimfire. In comparison, I think centerfire versions have 20 MOA scope bases.
Elfster's Rifles and Reloading Tikka makes great centerfire rifles but the T1x looks a bit lackluster. I’m not a fan of the stock, really comes to the barrel I guess. I’m saving up for a vudoo.
You can always use Strelok for Android. It has some great options. You can use the paid version and get the ammo specs preloaded as well, or the free version that allows you to put the specs in yourself.
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading Hey Elfster - thanks for the vid. Excellent shooting. Wonder if you can give the creator of the App too, I cannot find it on the App Store.
question.....at 2.10 you said it's nice to have this 20 minute of angle rail on the rifle. Could you elaborate a little on that please? Kind of new to distance shooting........really enjoy your vids btw!!
The 20 minute scope rail angles the scope down more than a standard rail so you don’t run out of elevation adjustment on your scope at longer distances. Pretty much gives you an additional 20 minutes of elevation adjustment
It’s actually a vortex 4-16x44 SFP HST scope using a dope of 52 minutes of angle (208 clicks for the layman) and the fact the rifle has a built in 30moa rail helps
I have also done some testing with match ammo and lapua and eley are very good. I bought a box of 50 lapua center x shot 20 rounds and held 3/4" at 50 yards. Then weighed the remaining 30 rounds and 27 of them were exactly 50.9 grains.
All depends on what your barrel like to shoot. Good point tho! Got a few friends who's subs shoot amazing! Cost vs accuracy is important to me when it comes to cci standard velocity
I know a lot of guys on snipershide that shoot out to 300 and even more all the time. It’s all good fun and just to see what the max is for a 22lr especially at 52 minutes of angle. To each their own type thing. :)
No joke there! Also, shooting a 22lr at 300yards is “kinda” like shooting a .308 well past 1000 yards if you think about it. Crazy MOA elevation adjustment, heavily effected by wind, but at a fraction of the cost like Gerry said
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading This is exactly what started me on the long range 22lr path. My local 1000 yard rifle range has been shut down. Next best range offers distances out to 300 yards. Shooting 22lr at 300 allows me to pretend I'm taking 1000 yard centerfire shots, dialing for elevation, holding for wind, focusing on trigger, etc. Silver lining: Even match grade 22lr is cheap and I don't have to spend time loading it myself.
Man did I think you were a shit shooter until you pulled out the 233. What is the comparable range that you can get the same accuracy out of the ruger precision as your other gun at 300
22lr really depends on the ammo.. you can get good groups with a 22lr up to 50 yards. Maybe 100yards with elly match with a 22lr. Anything more with a 22lr and the bullet is literally dropping out of the sky like a rock
Super easy question to answer and why wouldn't you... price of ammo.. money. The two are not even close when I can get 2000rds of 22lr cci sv shipped for 85 bucks

Genuine question. Please don’t kill me for it. Can you shoot the gun while holding it like a normal rifle? Or can you only shoot it with the stand?
your 223 shooting is awesome. what ammo are you shooting?
Those are my tuned “pet” reloads of 60grn Vmax, 23.8 varget, lake city brass, cci 400 primers, and just a little under max magazine length. No crimp
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading what twist rate is you barrel? is it a Wylde?
Yup, wylde. 1:8
Good shooting
Thanks 👍
Is that an app on your iPad?
Yes... I'd look at streloc app I stead tho
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading thanks for the response!
Can you get a 50 yard zero if the scope has 60 MOA total adjustment or do you have to go 100yard zero. I’m shooting in NRL22. I have the Athlon 6-24 scope.
Hard to say as I've never had that much minutes of angle built into the base and mount
I found this rifle for 379 today, Todd. Is that a good buy? i love plinking with 22LR. I can go out to 600 yards at my club, but I doubt this baby is going to make it out that far. LOL Great shooting.
Send me a PM on my Facebook page bud. I cant talk $$$ here
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading I'm not on FB. I'll join your Patreon tomorrow at some point. If you have subscribestar, I'll go there instead. LMK. With the holidays and all, we can communicate after Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and yours brother.
Thanks buddy. I am on patreon :) see ya there
I have this rifle and have tested it to 300 yards, first of all, I'd get rid of the cci standard. I use SK rifle match or Lapua center x
I like cci sv because it's so cheap but pretty darn accurate. Sk and lapua X is very accurate but also very expensive
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading, we have out range here in Ireland, and there was a record last month with a 22lr over a 1025 yards. RWS 100 was the ammunition. You won't get accuracy with cci standards, but grand for plinking, I use them in my Ruger competition pistol
Very capable rifle when some of the subsystems are fine tuned i.e. magazine, trigger?, barrel?
Great work. This honest shooting shows why the 22 lr is truly a max 125 yards option. And the 223 a 400 yard
What program are you using for the ballistic calculations?
BalisticAE. It's only for apple products. It used to be free but now you need to pay for it :(
Elfster's Rifles and Reloading thanks! Maybe I can get it for iPhone.
I would like to see this test with the 22 magnum version. I purchased one few months back. Fun to shoot!
Adaboy4z I love mine in 22mag
How did your test go shooting your 22 mag at 300 yards?
Whoa!...22lr impressive.
It’s a fun little rifle for the money! Cz457 or tikka t1x is also something else to look at. Can usually get the RPR for $375. It does have some issues but it’s something I can work with as a trainer for my other RPR’s
What bipod are you using, have you had any extraction issues
That's the Harris notched leg 6-9inch swivel bipod. Yes, after about 1500 rounds I was having some extraction issue. Just call up ruger with the part number and they will send you one with an extra future replacement. Works great now
Extractor part that is
Nice to see .22LR can accurately hit targets at 300 yards.
Nice! Make note at the very end it’s my RRA VARMINT 223...
What bipod are you using?
Harris 6 to 9 inch with notched legs, and swivel with bipod lock
My factory rpr with 6-24 x 50 likes winchester power point only shot out to 200m but
Yeah, it’s crazy how one rifle of the same brand can like one type of ammo but the other will not.
Thanks!!! Actually I think I might be wrong and I think the rail is 30moa and not 20moa. Anyway, thanks!
Think you’re right on the rpr. It’s kinda hit or miss on the accuracy. So far I really enjoy mine
Yup my rprf accuracy is no good. 300 is pretty easy even with a semi auto with HV ammo depending on wind. If you want a bolt action get a CZ.
100%. Hear nothing but good things on the CZ 455 and waiting on the 457 reviews to roll in. What do you think on the tikka t1x?
Elfster's Rifles and Reloading Tikka makes great centerfire rifles but the T1x looks a bit lackluster. I’m not a fan of the stock, really comes to the barrel I guess. I’m saving up for a vudoo.
Where can i find the Ballistics program you were using in the beginning of the video? Btw god video👍🏼
It’s for apple products only. App Store. Called ballistics AE
Thank you!!
You can always use Strelok for Android. It has some great options. You can use the paid version and get the ammo specs preloaded as well, or the free version that allows you to put the specs in yourself.
Good info!
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading Hey Elfster - thanks for the vid. Excellent shooting. Wonder if you can give the creator of the App too, I cannot find it on the App Store.
That AR was grouping pretty good at 300 yds lol
great 22 video!!! awesome!!
Thanks!
What app is that
What’s the app you’re using
question.....at 2.10 you said it's nice to have this 20 minute of angle rail on the rifle.
Thank you!! @@ElfstersRiflesandReloading
You betcha!
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading hmmm, mine has 30 moa stamped on the top of the rail.
I was mistaken. It’s 30
which balistic calculator are you using
Ballistics AE but it only works for apple 🍏 products
Ottimo video ! Ed ottima arma ; prova ad usare rws r100 22lr 😉
What scope are you using on your RPR 22?
Vortex 4-16x44 HST second focal plane MOA
What ballistic app you using
Ballistic AE but its for Apple products only. Id check out strelock
Hell is that shooting possible with a 3x9 nikon bdc scope?
It’s actually a vortex 4-16x44 SFP HST scope using a dope of 52 minutes of angle (208 clicks for the layman) and the fact the rifle has a built in 30moa rail helps
Did you watch the start of the video going over the ballistics program?
What scope were you using please ?
I cant remember off the top of my head but its in this video
ua-cam.com/video/0uJlXhsziGw/v-deo.html
Put a black or red circle in the center
Nice shooter
Thanks!
Very good !
Try weighing your 22lr ammo. It makes a huge difference
👊💥👊
I'm shooting a ruger American 22lr at 100 yards and as long as I shoot standard velocity I can stay sub MOA
I have also done some testing with match ammo and lapua and eley are very good. I bought a box of 50 lapua center x shot 20 rounds and held 3/4" at 50 yards. Then weighed the remaining 30 rounds and 27 of them were exactly 50.9 grains.
Saved a lot of coin choosing the Ruger over a Voodu or Anchultz. It loves shooting anything under 1100 FPS.
Which is better the savage b 22 Or the ruger precision rim fire 22LR
Hard to say as I've never shot the savage my friend :(
With that said I'm a big fan of my rprr. Mine is very very accurate and is a great trainer for my RPR rifles
Interesting ty Sir 👍🏆👴
What's with the big blue visor lol
That’s a shooting backstop so people can’t shoot to high
@@ElfstersRiflesandReloading kind of figured, just odd never been to a range with that before
What ammo?
I think I said in the video. Cci SV
Elfster's Rifles and Reloading you should try the federal target. Lot better on deviation
Ding! 🤙
Thanks my man!!
what rear bag setup?
It’s just a cheap owl ear rear sand bag I got from scheels :)
I hear wind blowing...
Shouldn't you be using subsonic loads? (To avoid trans-sonic destabilization, and thus be far more accurate at distance)
All depends on what your barrel like to shoot. Good point tho! Got a few friends who's subs shoot amazing! Cost vs accuracy is important to me when it comes to cci standard velocity
I agree with that
Mine has a 30 moa rail
Yup, I misspoke. It’s 30
With respect whats the piont its for 100 use center fire ammo distance over 200
I know a lot of guys on snipershide that shoot out to 300 and even more all the time.
100%!!!
@@Dustysa4 At 25$ a box for .22lr Match Ammo is not Cheap to me
VERYGOOD
Maybe orange paint
Ill tell you what. Compared to you, I couldn't hit a Bull in the ass with a BANJO
Hehe that’s one way of putting it! Thanks!
It’s a 30 moa rail.
You’re right. Thanks
😀verygood😁
THIS GUN IS AWESOME BUT GET THE 17 HMR - WHY WOULD YOU GET 22LR ?
Super easy question to answer and why wouldn't you... price of ammo.. money. The two are not even close when I can get 2000rds of 22lr cci sv shipped for 85 bucks
And there isnt match ammunition for 17hmr, which are known for having very inconsistent velocities.
At 300 yd I can do just about the same with my 10 /22 just put on a glass and I can reach out there... I was expecting more out of this precision rifle and for the price just get a 10/22 and a bunch of ammo...
try 1 mile
Buy a better gun or better AMO !!
The stock is complete crap. made of flimsy plastic and if you turn the
knob too far it disintegrates and falls for pieces before your very
eyes.
What ammo load was your 233?
CCI SV
Which ballistic program is that ? And where to get it ?
Balistic AE...believe for Apple only I'd check out strelock tho
What ballistic calculation app are you using?
Ballistics AE which is sadly for apple products only
