  • In today's video, I am taking my new Ruger Precision Rimfire out to 400 yards. This is the second outing with it. Using the Federal Auto Match dialed to 70 MOA or so. The Eley Club is much more consistent, but I am conserving the few boxes I have, and the Auto Match has a slightly higher velocity. Great conditions with virtually no wind. I'll try to make a post on The Reloaders Network on my first outing with it showing some 50 yard groups. Scope is a Sightron S-Tac 4-20.

    I took my Ruger Precision out yesterday after a silhouette match and went for the 200mtr gong… estimated 40MOA.. we hit the post a couple times, the wind was crazy… this is awesome. Can’t wait to do it again…

    Looks like a good shooter, with the variance some 22 ammo can have that's impressive to see consistency at that range

    Glad I found your video and also glad you’re shooting Federal AutoMatch. For some reason my Ruger Custom Shop 10/22 loves them. I have a Bergara B14r ordered, should be here this week but at 11 degrees I won’t be shooting much. I am going to sort a brick by rim thickness and weight just cause I’m retired and bored but I’ll let you know if does anything positive. The scopes I run on most of my rifles are SWFA SS 10x42 fixed except my 22s, I run the same scope in 16x fixed. I haven’t tried anything past 100 yards yet but just joined a range that has steel from 200-500yds. I’m going to introduce the guys there to KYL shooting at 50 and 100yds, should be some fun. I’m really impressed with your Ruger Precision, with less than 200rds it’s really putting them in there. Great video, thanks for you time and energy.

    If you have to drive and it takes that long to reach your target you ain’t “plinking” Very nice job with great results from a pretty much new rifle. Considering the prices I’ve seen locally Ruger seems to have hit the mark on this one.

    400 yards is a nice stretch, that would be awesome to see the projectile tracing that distance...
    I've got one on order (American flag) and can't wait to get it, I'm topping it with a Arken optic ... I'm surprised there is no american flag versions on YT but it should be a great little gun.

    Enjoyed your video.Bought this rifle last year, shoot every Sunday weather permitting. 50 yds. 1/2 paint balls, 100 yds. 1" blocks, 150 yds. 3" plate, 200 yds. 4" plate, 250 yds. 6" plate. My 250 yard group is aprox. 14'.IBS target at 50 yds. cant seem to get past SCORE 230. Tried many different ammo. I like Fed. target, Fed Champion, Blazers.

    You are a good shot. RPRR's are hit and miss as far as quality. People can say what they want but its a good rifle. Mine was a hit and evidently yours is too. The thing I like about the 8400 is its not as ammo sensitive as more expensive guns. I am going to try some Eley Tenex in mine just to see what the groups look like at 50 and 100. That seems to be CZ's claim to fame is putting a bullet on a bullet at that range.

    I have trouble seeing crosshairs on a black background. I like to paint my steel white and place a black dot for reference. Contrast seems much better for my eyes that way. Maybe give it a try and see what you think

    Hello Josh!
    Looking tru old videos on RPR researching a upcoming video on my own.
    Im jelious of the ability to shoot at distance like this. That pic of targets was quite deceiving as to distance. How big was each target. Fir sure they got bigger farther you placed them.
    Watching farther I heard 18" 300.

    • @243Outdoors
      @243Outdoors  21 день тому +1

      Yeah I miss that range. Since I moved in to far to keep it up. I had to skim through the video to see what I was doing. The round target is a 12” and the square ones are 16”. I had plans to go out to 500 but never did. The jump from 400 to 500 is huge. Was going to back out the zoom to get enough holdover to make the shot. Long range 22 is tons of fun and a lot cheaper.

    • @cw2a
      @cw2a 21 день тому

      @@243Outdoors Heck yea it is!! I ran some numbers too!!
      I can only shoot 200 my main range. Just under 300 on another. But that one is only a 18" heavy gong @ 280.

    OK.......Was it a 12 ga slug in the middle of target???.... You didn't paint it..... I'm not the only one requesting to know :}. Wind-age is important as always but I'm very curious as to when with a small round like .22lr when the coriolis effect will take evidence in distance. Must google now....

    • @kruzmisile
      @kruzmisile 5 років тому

      Nope. Your 2 mile an hour is more important. Based on
      Drift = 1.25 x ( Sg + 1.2 ) x tof ^ 1.83

    • @243Outdoors
      @243Outdoors  5 років тому +1

      It's just a blueish dot in the center. This round is going so slow at that distance it doesn't even break up. Just smashes flat and falls to the ground. Due to the inconsistency's of 22's there is no grouping at that distance. Generally I can get 6-7 hits out of 10 in good conditions. I think spin drift is more of an issue than coriolis. I have done this several times in calm conditions and always have to hold slightly left. I am shooting West so coriolis would be a change in elevation.
