Ruger Precision Rimfire 22LR 400 Yards

- In today's video, I am taking my new Ruger Precision Rimfire out to 400 yards. This is the second outing with it. Using the Federal Auto Match dialed to 70 MOA or so. The Eley Club is much more consistent, but I am conserving the few boxes I have, and the Auto Match has a slightly higher velocity. Great conditions with virtually no wind. I'll try to make a post on The Reloaders Network on my first outing with it showing some 50 yard groups. Scope is a Sightron S-Tac 4-20.

I took my Ruger Precision out yesterday after a silhouette match and went for the 200mtr gong… estimated 40MOA.. we hit the post a couple times, the wind was crazy… this is awesome. Can’t wait to do it again…
Nice shooting with a low budget gun
Great shooting. Just ordered one of these yesterday. Looking forward to trying it out. Still have my MKII FVSR. Too good of a shooter to let it go. Thanks for the vid.
Looks like a good shooter, with the variance some 22 ammo can have that's impressive to see consistency at that range
Nicely done Brother, I’ve looked at a couple of those once or twice. I may have to go look a 3rd time. Nice shooting 👍🏽
I really enjoyed this. I was holding this in the gun shop today, might have to pick one up. Looks like a lot of fun. I need something with an adjustable stock so I can shoot with my young boys.
Welcome back!
Glad I found your video and also glad you’re shooting Federal AutoMatch. For some reason my Ruger Custom Shop 10/22 loves them. I have a Bergara B14r ordered, should be here this week but at 11 degrees I won’t be shooting much. I am going to sort a brick by rim thickness and weight just cause I’m retired and bored but I’ll let you know if does anything positive. The scopes I run on most of my rifles are SWFA SS 10x42 fixed except my 22s, I run the same scope in 16x fixed. I haven’t tried anything past 100 yards yet but just joined a range that has steel from 200-500yds. I’m going to introduce the guys there to KYL shooting at 50 and 100yds, should be some fun. I’m really impressed with your Ruger Precision, with less than 200rds it’s really putting them in there. Great video, thanks for you time and energy.
I like it! Good fun for sure!!
Nice !! I saw your post on RN , had to check the video out.. nice shooting.
Handles the recoil pretty well!
Nice set up and shooting Josh!
Good to see another vid from ya buddy! Nice rifle
Thanks man, I really like it so far.
If you have to drive and it takes that long to reach your target you ain’t “plinking” Very nice job with great results from a pretty much new rifle. Considering the prices I’ve seen locally Ruger seems to have hit the mark on this one.
Hope you keep enjoying that 22. I bought one a year ago and it shoots great. Planning on stretching it out this summer if it ever stops raining when I am home every other weekend.
Brian Matthes what scope are you using?
Excellent 👍👍
Glad you still put out videos, but I joined the Reloaders network, and Headspace so I can enjoy some of the content you give on other platforms too.
I've got a couple posts I need to make, but just haven't sat down and did them yet. I'll try to put up a few videos here and there, but probably nothing on a regular basis.
this is awesome
Nice groupings. Be nice to see shots sent with a good tail wind.
One day Sharpie will make a black marker that dries black lol. Nice rifle and shooting.
400 yards is a nice stretch, that would be awesome to see the projectile tracing that distance...
I've got one on order (American flag) and can't wait to get it, I'm topping it with a Arken optic ... I'm surprised there is no american flag versions on YT but it should be a great little gun.
Enjoyed your video.Bought this rifle last year, shoot every Sunday weather permitting. 50 yds. 1/2 paint balls, 100 yds. 1" blocks, 150 yds. 3" plate, 200 yds. 4" plate, 250 yds. 6" plate. My 250 yard group is aprox. 14'.IBS target at 50 yds. cant seem to get past SCORE 230. Tried many different ammo. I like Fed. target, Fed Champion, Blazers.
tscan100 what scope ring do I need for this ruger I just bought this and a vortex 6-24x50 I do r know what scope rings to get?
Good shooting brother 👍🇺🇸
Thanks man.
She's a beauty!!!
You are a good shot. RPRR's are hit and miss as far as quality. People can say what they want but its a good rifle. Mine was a hit and evidently yours is too. The thing I like about the 8400 is its not as ammo sensitive as more expensive guns. I am going to try some Eley Tenex in mine just to see what the groups look like at 50 and 100. That seems to be CZ's claim to fame is putting a bullet on a bullet at that range.
I have trouble seeing crosshairs on a black background. I like to paint my steel white and place a black dot for reference. Contrast seems much better for my eyes that way. Maybe give it a try and see what you think
Very good to see your vid. I am happy for you getting beans in. Many of my folk in IL & IN only got 30% of crops in or none. Tough year for our farmers. Good shooting.
Yeah they were spotting in a few spots tonight, so i had to quit a little early. It seems like every week or 2 we get 3-4 inches of rain.
I just bought one today 06/09/22
I'm in Illinois so I have a 3 day wait.
nice shooting! i gotta savage fv i take out to 500 on a 12" gong... maaan, aguila interceptor is the stuff!!! its almost 1500 fps!! i can ring that bell all day!! check is out, also it smell kinda sweet..its a funny smell.
Were you been at man? Good video and keep them coming
...my Ruger 10/22 Target Tactical (hammer forged heavy barrel, match chamber) loves Eley... subMoA @100 yards...just not those Eley! Great video though, thanks!
Do you have a link to the specific bipod you're using?
Just bought mine today. So excited. Have shot Lapua Center-x or Wolf Match Target with it? Do you find subsconic ammo to be more accurate or vice versa? By the way, I shoot a Sightron SIII Long Range on my Savage Model 12 308 Win. What an instrument!
Are you still shooting this ruger by chance how’s it treating you?
Good to see a vid from you man. Nice rifle, good shooting and no reloading for this one👍🏻😬
I really like it. It's shot a few 1/2 inch groups at 50. Yep no reloading for this one.
Do you think the Rimefire Long range Target is a good option instead of this?
At 400 with CCI is that 71+16 moa or 68+16 ? i was right at 82 moa for 400
How does it compare to cz 457 trainer
Hello Josh!
Looking tru old videos on RPR researching a upcoming video on my own.
Im jelious of the ability to shoot at distance like this. That pic of targets was quite deceiving as to distance. How big was each target. Fir sure they got bigger farther you placed them.
Watching farther I heard 18" 300.
Yeah I miss that range. Since I moved in to far to keep it up. I had to skim through the video to see what I was doing. The round target is a 12” and the square ones are 16”. I had plans to go out to 500 but never did. The jump from 400 to 500 is huge. Was going to back out the zoom to get enough holdover to make the shot. Long range 22 is tons of fun and a lot cheaper.
@@243Outdoors Heck yea it is!! I ran some numbers too!!
I can only shoot 200 my main range. Just under 300 on another. But that one is only a 18" heavy gong @ 280.
Grab one of those 500 yard zombie head hunter rimfire challenge targets and give it a go. 98 moa was my dial after a 100 yard zero
Man that Ruger Shoots great! I think the switch was a good choice. Any chance on a future NRL 22 match soon?
No work schedule just hasn't allowed it. I typically been getting in at 3am on friday nights, and I need to be on the road by 7am. So probably not going to happen.
I have a question for you could you please give me the name of the scope base your using ?? Thank you for the info
It's an AR Stoner 1 Piece Mount. 30mm 0MOA, They do have a 20MOA option, but my rifle has a 30MOA Base so that would be to much. www.midwayusa.com/product/1019614720/ar-stoner-extended-1-piece-cantilever-scope-mount-picatinny-style-with-integral-rings-ar-15-matte-black
Nice to see a video again :-) What calculator are you using ? Is it down-loadable ?
I use JBM mainly. Vortex had an awesome one but they changed it back to a basic one. I just use it off the web site. www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmtraj-5.1.cgi
Sweet! The barrel comes threaded? Any suggestions of a silencer to keep it as quiet as possible?
Yep threaded barrel. However I’m an Illinois boy. So no silencer experience for me.
@@243Outdoors I'm in the city and have to go outside but I swear these woke and anti gun !morons hear a round and cops he called. Thought the might be a way to practice some long range on a budget and see how I do gaining experience and if I want to upgrade and compete. Silencers outlawed there?
Why do you think would be another good scope for this rifle other than the sightron that is cheaper I want to do some shooting distances like your doing?
I know it's an old post but.
I have a Riton 6-24×50ir on mine and it's sweet.
Made in the USA 🇺🇸 by Veterans and has quality Japanese glass 👌
You’re
OK.......Was it a 12 ga slug in the middle of target???.... You didn't paint it..... I'm not the only one requesting to know :}. Wind-age is important as always but I'm very curious as to when with a small round like .22lr when the coriolis effect will take evidence in distance. Must google now....
Nope. Your 2 mile an hour is more important. Based on
Drift = 1.25 x ( Sg + 1.2 ) x tof ^ 1.83
It's just a blueish dot in the center. This round is going so slow at that distance it doesn't even break up. Just smashes flat and falls to the ground. Due to the inconsistency's of 22's there is no grouping at that distance. Generally I can get 6-7 hits out of 10 in good conditions. I think spin drift is more of an issue than coriolis. I have done this several times in calm conditions and always have to hold slightly left. I am shooting West so coriolis would be a change in elevation.
what eBay atlas bipod are you referencing . I don't have a lot of money .but want a good bipod
Here’s the video I made when I got it. The link to eBay is no longer active.
