Very good video. You raised alot of good questions and unfortunately there are no easy answers to those questions. Alot will depend what type of crisis there is and how long it will last. About all you can do is prepare as best as you can and see how everything plays out. And you are correct about people trying to steal what they need from others. It will be a dangerous time and unfortunately there will be very little law and order. Take care and stay safe. And as always, I'm looking forward to your next video.

Another informational and thought provoking video, thank you. Wild Woman Vanessa , you bring up some valid questions. Unfortunately in today's world, the scenarios are much different than they were many years ago. Perplexing are the answers to your questions, water, food, shelter, medicine Etc., it's surreal now a days. In the event of a catastrophe, most people will be lost. Nice video, well done.

I'm really enjoying this series, Vanessa. You raise a number of good points. I can understand why anyone would be repulsed by the thought of having to eat one of their beloved pets, but historically, people have done things far more disturbing in order to survive. Diligent preparation and a simplified way of life can help to ensure that it never comes to such desperate need.

VERY, VERY good topic, Vanessa! One that most of us can relate to. We love our animals.....even the bigger ones. BUT, in a long term crisis we would face DIFFICULT choices.
WE in the Western world, have become completely dependant on supermarkets and commercial sources for food. People need to understand all these stores depend on "on time delivery". There is no storage. A truck shows up....just in time. If there is ANY disruption in transportation and delivery, there WON'T be food in those stores! SO LISTEN to VANESSA, folks. Prep! Good job, meine liebe! Thanks!🇺🇸🚜🇩🇪❤

I know when we went into Bosnia after the fall of the old Yugoslavia stray dogs were a problem. Their owners were displaced or deceased. It is a topic to be thought about. Those who prepare are buying time not avoiding trouble. It is good not to obsess about it but forethought and planning will definitely help in any crisis situation. Rhanks for sharing your thoughts.

In regards to owning aquarium pets being this is right up my alley. It is possible for fish, invertebrates and other tank animals to survive without power. But it does depend if its freshwater or saltwater. I have 2 tanks myself both freshwater currently and i owned a 150 gallon 11 years ago. The first thing i know is a must is live plants. A well conditioned tank with many plants will keep the tank going just fine with oxygen and keep ph ammonia balanced. You also want daylight or sunlight if the power is out to help the fish stay active. Also a type of battery bar light to run in cycles if its darker gloomy days for the tank. If its cold then you want the tank in a small space thats insulated. Keep some blankets or emergency blankets around the tank. If you can keep the tanks temperature at 60 most fish can survive. Limit their feedings to light feedings to help prevent ph ammonia changes. And manual filtration options can help as well. Running the water through filters into a bucket with a hose can help as well.

Depending on the crisis or a SHTF situation the food and water preps are a must but the money you have put back will be worthless..just my opinion but take that money and buy things you can barter with like whiskey, coffee, different calibers of ammo even if you don’t have a gun to go with all the different calibers..ammo will be worth more than gold in the right situation..just my thoughts, hope I didn’t offend you!

Look up emergency heat. Crisco candles work well. Get a pack of birthday candles and stick them in Crisco solid vegetable shortening/ oil to the top of the wicks and light them. Good for about 70 hours. Both light and heat. I put mine in a terra- cotta pot and suspend another one over it. Good for heating a small area. Not super warm but enough to keep you alive.

Holy Smokes, well... Smokes aren't holy, this video was very well done, I got so much from your thoughts on prepping. In Canada its like get away from town with some way to hunt. Where I live you could only fish for maybe a month, by then it wouldn't matter if you had a permit. Hunting permits wouldn't matter either, but not very many people go without some sort of prepping out here. Thanks so much for this video, I am inspired.

In criss with no power then water would be a problem as the pumping station for water needs power so I'm sorry Vanessa you would loose your fish as well as the water supply, in a crisis people will eat anything they can get a hold of if there hungry enough, a underground stream stand pump would be one of the most important things to have in a crisis torn country.

Certainly food for thought. During floods, famine, disease or war people find a way. The more prepared you are will help for how long that is the question.
In the past people stuck together It's harder going it alone. If and when a crisis occurs that is when we will know. Animals not humans that can't fend for themselves will be the ones that perish first.

  • @riversendoutdoors342

There is good dry dog foods that you just add water to it’s not as good as fresh food but it will work. If you are hunting or slaughtering large animals you can cook the bones down and make bone broth to add to your dry dog food. I have a cattle ranch depending on the situation I will cut the fences or possibly run the cows back in the hills to a low protected area like a valley. The problem will be protecting the animals from crazy people who are hungry. I plan on processing cows if I need to and use the meat for trading. Pet birds should not be a problem, bird seed and chicken feed can be stored for a long time also small birds are good to have in case the air gets bad like the canary in the coal mines. Good Video Vanessa I think people are just not aware of what is going on in the world. You can show and teach people, you just have to have two or three places to keep your prepping stuff so that most of it is hidden.

In a crisis situation. For you specific
    1) your children survival are top priority
    2) that means all your thoughts should be
    2a- what/ who can help with #1
    2b - what/who would be a drain (negitive) on #1
3 - what / who of 2 b could be used differently to help 1a/2a
(( the above is am extreme situation i.e. you have to go to forrest cabin for a very long time.)) Do u take sheep to feed kids? Do u feed fish to cat? What do u set free?
Very very hard to pre plan. But if the worst situations come and u need to leave home. You need to think in a way that is logical as WE ALL would be heart broken.
For myself, my wife is not very mobile and not as strong as an average woman. I worry about we dont hava car (enviorment) so i have a big wagon i would pull with her in it. She could not carry a back pack full of gear. So i keep physically strong to do the hard work for both.

30-45 days is generally enough for food and water per person. Same with domestic animals.
Farm animals, you should already have a seasonal supply- or two. With those excluding winter, you can release into the forest/ wilderness area.. They'll return if you have fed them. Cats with claws and live inside and outside are the only domestic pet that can fend for themselves. Not domestic dogs.
People that need continuous medicines will unfortunately be the first to die. A sad what- is in apocalypse scenario.

I'm all for being prepared. But I think this idea that everyone will be robbing eachother and such is pretty far fetched. Before I went off on a tangent, I just wanted to say that having the skills of the pioneers, our ancestors, not having the high expectations of life that we do today...many of these "safety measures" require energy, stuff and unhuman practices. Live simply. Many times I feel that modern life and its inventions are just not worth it. Half the peopel in the US are on mental medication...is this bs life worth it? My answer is no. But we do not know how to live other wise. My original off tangent post: Notice that the things that are hardest to replicate at home or from raw materials...we weirdly cling to. If they just abandon us, which I heard they will do, we will not have the mfg or knowledge of the technology. I do not blame workers, they have families but the business owners should be there. That is why we should only have small local businesses. They also tend to not make or do things they should NOT be. This system of invention...was meant to trap us, I think. Or to get rid of us with one swoop of the hand...I think we will be pleasantly surprised with the amount of small businesses that will arise to give comfort and transition, whether a remnant of our modern lives or teaching the new dogs the tricks of old.

I know one thing for sure, cats that are older and have been fed put of a can all that time will have no instinct to hunt., you will have to end them eventually., but in the mean time feed them the hamster, then feed the cats to the dogs as they are the only usefully pets you have during shtf!

Your very right to look after your animals and family, but the worse case you could be talking about with at least two counties now threatening to use them is nuclear weapons.
Apart from Japan no one has had those dropped on them but you only need look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki to see that result. To these days both were small Atomic bombs which is a type of Nuclear bomb which are now many many times bigger. All the prepping or worrying is not going to help in that situation. We can all only hope. Arthur (UK)

You have to be careful eating domestic cats and dogs, because most of them are treated with medication like wormer medication, heart worm medicine and flee treatments. These can be dangerous to people to eat. XO

Vanessa, I've enjoyed your channel for some time now, but one thing has been missing, and I find it missing with almost every Prepper Channel that I watch. That missing piece is a partner. Be it a husband, wife, friend, relative, it's like all of the preppers are like yourself, and you make it sound as if you are alone in the world and have absolutely no one you can call on for help. Maybe that's the next thing you should prepare for, someone whom you can count on to help you. You can't handle 3 small children, plus all of your animals and everything else that you're involved in by yourself. There is no such thing as WONDER WOMAN. And as good as you are, you are only one person with limitations on your strength and energy. Once you exhaust your energy, who takes care of your children and the rest of your responsibilities. Understandably you have been very guarded with respect to your family, but you didn't make those children on your own, but you have chosen not to share that on your channel. THAT'S OK, I UNDERSTAND. But most people DO HAVE a partner who can carry some of those responsibilities. A really good prepper is going to include that partner in their plans, which one of you will be responsibile for making sure the children are together and protected, the other may be responsible for making sure the animals that you are most concerned about are part of the plan, for food, for shelter, etc. List your priorities, what one of those living creatures is it going to hurt you the least to loose? You may have to make a tough decison and put something down, or let it go so that you have enough energy to handle everything else that you're trying to hold on to. Trying to do everything yourself will doom you to failure, and if you fail, what happens to your children, your animals your most prized possessions? Don't assume that all of your viewers are without the help of family or friends. You don't have to give up your secrets that you have held onto by not including them in your videos, but you can discuss the possibility of including a source of help in your prepping plans. You raised some VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS in this video, and I think we all have to sit down and discuss with our family, group, or whatever you want to call it, so that everyone knows what the priorities are in the event of an emergency that you have prepared for. Thanks for your videos, and I hope you will accept this in the way it was intended, and that is to help by getting you to think about some things that didn't come through on this video.

Dam good video on alot of topics and alot of stuff/ things too think about. With the current events going on in the world, my opinion, if the nukes come out , everything will be dead or alot of suffering. Sad too think or feel this way , but it's probably true . Millionaire how think there safe, should open there eyes because they think having alot of $$$ will keep them alive/safe ,won't mean 💩. People will come after them... Because they have everything 😂🤣 .. This is just my opinion and hopefully the world countries that are in a pissing match can get there 💩💩 together .. I 🙏🙏🙏🙏 that they do or can. Not holding my breath. God Bless you and your families!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🔪👍👍

If you ever find yourself in an impossible situation, call on the name of Jesus.
There is power in His name.
    James 2:19
“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”
See that? The devils tremble at His name.
Jesus defeated Satan when He died on the cross. What a beautiful thing!
The Bible says if you resist the devil he will flee from you.
    James 4:7
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Jesus gave us authority to tread on the devils.
(Luke 10:19 KJV) Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.
Greatest of all, Jesus gave us eternal life. All that is required is that you believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. That he died for our sins.
Believe that and you have eternal life in Heaven.
You don’t have to get religious, you don’t have to become sinless, and you don’t have to pretend to be holy. Just believe.
The rapture, the sudden disappearance of millions of believers, will happen soon. God’s word tells us this and does not lie.
If you find yourself still here, immediately call out to Jesus to save you and you’ll have eternal life in Heaven when you leave this world. And don’t believe the authorities lies that aliens abducted us with all the children. Research Project Blue Beam to learn about the coming alien deception. Aliens are simply demons.
John 3:16 KJV: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
