Tremendous equipment and video! It looks like the rake is bringing together 40+ feet of material and that chopper just keeps rolling. It has always seemed a bit strange though to have the mower knock down the plant and then cut it rather than cutting it and then laying it down or handling it like all other cutters do i,e, swathers, all crop heads, sickle bar mowers, etc. The haybines and now the discbines knock it down first - seems like a less clean cut.
Will that mold the way their pilling it up like that? And I was wondering if sheep will eat that? These men are the backbone of America and I salute you! Thanks guys!
We are looking at this sorghum sudan grass for our farm as well for wet years. Our only problem is the temperatures here in Maine can drop incredibly fast especially in September so frost can and often is a problem so it makes getting a 2nd crop in with this product tricky. In a mild year not a big problem. This past year a lot of farmers couldn't even get into their fields until late June or early July
Hi , honest question i work for a harvest crew and we chop sorghum with a corn header , curios to why mow and wait and raked then chop ? Just a curious question to anyone out there that think i know everything. Thanks
Why are they weighing the trucks? Is that to figure out yield? Do a lot of farms have trucks scales? Seems like an expensive piece of equipment to have on the farm.
Great video - really enjoyed it. Couple of questions; - 1, Did that tractor at the farm doing the pushing have a 2-stroke engine as it sounded awfully like one, and, 2, Were they 'low ground pressure tyres' on that truck.?
Chopper is equipped with rock stop. Basically an inertia sensor that detects when a rock goes into the compression rollers in the feederhouse, stops it dead when it senses a large rock has been fed in
Mike... I love the videos, but I can't stand the music... I have to mute it every time you aren't talking... I know you aren't the only one who does it, but I just don't like the musical noise...
Herb, I understand you may not like the music but here's my reason for using on during some parts of this video. This video is 26 minutes long. I used music for only about 4 minutes total. I used the music during the distant drone shots for a reason. The drone does not record sound for one and if it did you would just hear a buzzing sound. I try to match up machine sounds during the drone shots but in this video for the parts I used music the camera was far enough away from the machines that there was no sound to match up. I do the best I can editing these videos but my thinking is a little music for part of the video is better than silence.
Beautiful video again. A great privilige to be able to watch and hear videos like these. Big thanks for sharing.
The aerials of the raking are some of you best work. Wonderful video
Great video Mike. Always good to see the farming process.
the sheer scale of it is mind blowing, blessed to have land as flat as a billiard table.
Watching that raker is my favorite part
I didn't know there was a big dairy near Rockford. That's about 40 miles East of me. Thanks for posting!
Great videos, enjoy watching the equipment at work.

Wow, love the tires on that KW T800 @18:45. Where can I get a set??
Loved the video Mike.
What is the cost involved in contracting this service to outside sources? How do they calculate the quotation? Thanks.
Please, list the equipment used in each video in the header description.
Great video mike ,
Ah, that's a big rake!
They should pull the carts off those tractors and get them both packing. They need to look into the "800 Rule" for packing bunk.
Great video. Nobody plants sudan grass around here.

Probably also to keep track of feed inventory and maybe they buy forage from other farmers in the area.
I bet that there will be some lucky cows... 😉👍🏻
Great video

How many tons you get one acre.
Do they get much dirt in the feed doing this mike. Thanks
No link to the Big M video in the description
very interesting
I keep waiting for Pete Johnson and the wheat school guys every time the music plays
why don't you chop it directly?
why do some farmers use rakes and other farmers use mergers?
Do they have any problem with rocks to the chopper from raking that SS?

6:40 cool buzzards in the background.
Why do they weigh before dumping?
To keep track of yield, tons per acre.
Hey Mike did you by chance video any of your snowmobile ride ? I miss riding since I moved from upstate NY to New Mexico desert
Yes and I'll be working on that video this week maybe.
17:01 is that one of those cheap Chinese knock off front end dozers?
