- For some reason my Yoga Slim 7i Pro X just became a completely non working device. Nothing at all is happening when trying to start it plugged in or not. There's light from the power button and light from the charge led, but that's it. Do you have any idea of why this could happen, please let me know.

On a lot of newer laptops you have to hold the power button for a really long time. Try holding it down for like a minute even of the lights start flashing and see if it ever goes off completely. If that doesn't work, and the battery disconnect/reset button doesn't on the bottom, you could try to take the back off and actually unplug the battery from the motherboard.
Will try this stuff asap. Why do you mean i would need to hold it for a minute?
@@w2best sorry hold the power button on the side for like a minute. Ignore all the blinking from the light and see if it ever goes out completely. I've seen some newer laptops that you have to hold the power button down forever to get them to fully shutdown.
So my slim 7i pro x just did this too! Holding the power button did nothing, but pressing the pin hole reset button on the bottom fixed it. Very weird.
@@cincy9381 How and how long did you press reset? I can't get anything to happen with that or with pulling the battery cable. :(
@@w2best maybe yours is a separate issue. Mine was doing exactly what you described in your video today though. I held the reset button for about 10 seconds and then the power LED started blinking orange where you plug in the cord. It did that for a while, and I was just getting ready to get up and go plug it in to see if it helped, when it booted back up. Been working ok ever since. I hope it’s not about to die completely. Ugh. Only had it for 2 weeks.
so sorry to hear this...good luck, all the best. let us know how it goes.
There will be updates!
Bring a flashlight real close to the screen and see if it's just really dim. I've sometimes seen this on computers when the OLED, LCD panel fails, its really dim but still turned on.
Nope there's nothing there...
@@w2best Hmm weird. Is the computer still completely dead?
@@powershield69 yes, no signs of life after trying everything mentioned in comments.
@@w2best That's dissapointing, please make a follow up video on this when it's back from the service center.
Dude, you totally saved me!! That’s what was happening with my laptop. I just pressed the add brightness key and the start screen I hadn’t been seeing suddenly appeared, thank goodness. May your days be sunny and your evenings moonlit.
Wish I could help! My Lenovo P14S G1 has been almost trouble free for almost 2 years, although the trackpad had to be replaced soon after I received it
Something similar happened to a friend’s Lenovo gaming laptop and I found something somewhere saying to hold the power button for 60 seconds and that might work. I was sceptical but I tried it, and sure enough it booted up and he’s had no problems with it since.
I tried this many times. In this case the motherboard was dead...
disable\enable battery? connect external screen?
No life in external screen. Will try battery connector.
If you search Reddit there seem to be a bunch of problems with this device, way more than with the predecessor. Pretty disappointing considering this should be a premium device.
I haven't seen many issues reported but haven't looked too closely. It's a pity cause I really liked it.
Good lesson to backup frequently
Everything in the cloud always, so no problem in this case :)
plug in hdmi to see if is the screen, remove battery completely, and the clock battery, cell batt... bake motherboard in oven
There is no life from hdmi or usb c screen. I will try the other fixes during this week.
In my opinon a hardware failure.
If it would turn on (and just don't activate the screen) you would hear the fans.
Holding the power button for 10 seconds should normally switch it off.
You could try a BIOS reset if that's possible.
Otherwise I would contact the Lenovo support. They are quite good and helpful, at least in Germany.
Hardware failures can happen, also with new devices. I worked for an IT manufacturer for some years and (back then) around 3 % of memory died within the first week.
I start to get more and more convinced you are right.
Concerning to say ths least!
On my side I also gota blue screen with restart not even a week after receiving it. However no other problems of that type since.
Have you tried the reset button on the bottom plate of the laptop on the side of the vent grill?
I haven't tried that button, but I will for sure.
@@w2best I hope it will do something!
I think we need some kind of pin, maybe a sim card pin would work, or removing the back plate.
Something similar happened to me, due to a UBS C cable probably giving it too much power and creating a shock. It took a couple of weeks but then it came back to life by itself. Same happened to me wtih a thinkpad, but thinkpad have a small reset button (you press it with a sim eject tool) so that made it come back to life immediately... I would simply wait a week or 10 days and then just hold the power button for 10 seconds and press it again
Thank you for the input. I will try this for sure.
Just try to boot from bootable USB drive and see what is the problem: use ventoy to create bootable USB drive, you can add Ubuntu, hirens boot CD...
no option to boot at all in this case.
Windows always have problem with sleep/hibernate until you laptop get hot and brick.
I wonder if this is what happened here. It's very hard to tell
dude I have this same laptop (the NA version) since last year and its been the worst laptop I ever owned, nothing but issues.. The performance is terrible, the battery is terrible, all sorts of issues beyond those as well.. Even the hardware build is terrible.
Sad to hear! Lenovo are not great with quality control many times!
Does it work with an external monitor?
no, didn't work with anything. Motherboard failure.
Have they fixed it?
@@Ramboxit Yes, motherboard exchanged. However I'm away until monday, so update video will be mid next week.
The joy of Windows laptops.
I had a failed logic board on mac too - so they are not entirely flawless, many year ago though.
Lenovo is truly a Chinese crap. Some years ago I bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 in the Netherlands. The worst laptop that I have ever used. And I have had many. For that bad laptop I paid for 900 Euros and it was plagued with problems from the start. The Lenovo service in The Netherlands sucks. Never again Lenovo. I have a Dell for the last 2 years and they really top on customer service!
Same here, I had a Lenovo Yoga Pro 2, which would have a flickering screen on battery and would then get a blue screen. On wall power I never had an issue though. Mind you, just got a really good deal on a Yoga 7 Pro. If this one fails, I won't buy another Lenovo anymore. But so far, I'm loving it.
@@annvoy7698 Specwise, Lenovo's are good. But they are poorly manufactured. I think I took only 50 euro of usage benefit from that 900 euro Lenovo stole from me. Now I have a Dell. It is not without problems. But Dell comes to my home and repairs it on site. Even when I accidentally dropped it. Dell has an incredible service. I shall never buy anything only based on specs anymore. Service is what makes it usable or trash.
I hope it goes better for you this time. regards.
