Lady Chablis' entrance at the Cotillion in her blue dress was one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life. The entire cast was magnificent. Loved the Country Lawyer, and the Prosecutor was just right. Clint's best movie.

The Lady Chablis stole every scene she was in in "Midnight..." She was elegant, classy, beautiful, and naughty! There wasn't a masculine molecule in her.

To Chablis's credit, she was far more than a drag queen or a transgender woman. She would have never won over so many people worldwide or even managed more than a mention in Berendt's book without the rare charisma she possessed. Clint Eastwood knew it too - as legend has it, she waltzed in that meeting, sat on his lap, and rightly refused that _anyone_ else _could_ play The Doll. She had just about every card stacked against her with her race, gender expression, and vocation, and yet she _still_ somehow managed to become the pride and joy of one of the South's most stubbornly traditional cities. Those who got the chance to experience this force-of-nature were truly fortunate as she will be an icon of that sleepy little city for years to come, a legend that should be memorialized with a statue: _The Grand Empress of Savannah._

This makes me VERY sad. Even though Kevin Spacey is one of my top 5 favorite actors of all time (And no....I don't give a flying f@#k about what that loser son of Richard Dreyfuss, or any other #metoo scum suckers say he did!) The Doll, aka The Grand Empress, aka The Lady Chablis STOLE the movie "Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil" with her heart and soul performance. Heaven's a GOTTA be a LOT more fun with her there!

Chablis was quite a card!! It’s still not clear that there was any reason for ‘her’ testimony in court-IF it ever occurred. But it’s very plausible that some passing acquaintance with Danny Hanson may have caused their paths to have crossed earlier in life. Unlikely, but plausible.
I can appreciate why people actually brought up in Savannah-concept wouldn’t have cared for Jim Williams, his trial publicity, nor for the national depiction of their town as it was presented by Berendt, then exaggerated even further by Eastwood for Hollywood in the film.
So many more persons directly and indirectly involved in the case OR in its media-aftermath, have also passed away now, Sonny Seiler, Joe Odom & his musical vocalist Kelly, several locals portrayed in the film, it seems a good point some years later to bid them all ‘Godspeed. And RIP, hopefully in gardens that portend more good hereafter.’ 🎆🪷🌸❄️🌸🪷❄️
