Tiny House Concept Adapted Into Amazing Modern Home

- Опубліковано 20 чер 2018
- This stunning small home has been constructed using tiny house design principles as part of a new suburban subdivision in Wanaka New Zealand. At 33 square meters (355 square feet) it's a very compact home and is filled with super clever tiny house and small space design ideas.

Constructed from structurally insulated panels or SIPs, this tiny house is well insulated, modern and constructed from very high quality materials.
www.livingbiginatinyhouse.com...
Building a house on foundations using the tiny house concept has allowed Will and Jen to create a home which is the best of both worlds. It's streamlined to the couples needs, takes up a very small footprint and has all the advantages of a tiny house, yet it's also not restricted to the standard tiny house dimensions and road-travel limitations, allowing the small home to be much higher and a bit wider than a conventional tiny house. It also means they haven't had to take weight into consideration in their build.
I hope you enjoy this weeks episode!

A stationary tiny home really appeals to me! I don't want my home to be on wheels, but I do want to live a simple, minimalist lifestyle.
ilavalolipop same...looking to buy a loft home or a 1 bed room. The smaller the better! But a good amount of land for growing 🐓🐓
Same here! I have no desire to have a mortgage for the next 30 years. My theory is is you can't buy something outright you can't afford it! My plan is to buy a piece of land and then build a stationary "tiny" home for myself and my doggies :)
Me too.
Same here. Thanks for the Balmer going nuts "link". U sure it is on the right playlist, though? =D
Some areas, regions, counties will require you to have wheels in order to meet requirements
That guy used "cases of wine" as a unit of measurement. My guy.
He also drinks "Extra Strength" Earl Gray tea 6:36
Yes, loved the use of wine as a measurement. But there's a reason why you have kick-panels. You can't stand right up to the work surface without one. A relative built his kitchen without them and I found it very awkward to do close-up detailed cake icing (or other precision jobs).
@@prva9347 your right, kick panels are useful. In this case, if you wanted to do those things which require you to be there for long periods, you could always move to the other side of the bench. By moving the chairs out of the way you will have plenty for space for your feet and can stand as close as you need.
I'm a fan of measuring things in lengths or height of deloreans.

Seeing him get so excited about his small Kettle and skinny toaster was so cute
He could have got a normal kettle and toaster and put it on the island. 😁

Yes it was, he is so passionate about his art I love it!
Best homeowner yet. So friendly and just beaming with pride over his house, which he should! Loved this episode!
I didn’t think she looked very happy, and her tiny size just screams that it wasn’t built to accommodate her needs. Only his. She seemed to have no personal effects at all.
@@Brineytoesif she wasn't happy she wouldn't have built the house. Just because she isn't talking doesn't mean she's unhappy, she's just letting him talk about it
A guy that can actually talk just as much as the presenter, makes it a lot less awkward
Amy McKeon 😂
Yeah omg
It’s never seen an awkward
episode though
He also gave Bryce a run for his money of being so tall. Taller than Bryce, I think.
13:07 is kinda awkward tho 😂
“More space makes it feel more spacious.”
Get this man a Nobel.

I’ve watched tons of tiny house videos and this owner was totally my favorite to watch. He’s so proud of his home and excited to go over everything from the toaster to the blow up bathtub. It’s refreshing. I’m so happy for them!
100% agree
Will was very impressive... his upbeat and positive attitude completely drew me into the narrative. He could easily host his own show... congrats on the elegant tiny home. 😊
Bryce you do SUCH A GREAT JOB interviewing people, showing off their homes, complimenting while questioning. You make this channel by your people skills, and that's cool to watch. Hope you keep making these videos. God Bless
Really? I feel he brings himself to much into the picture. I would've loved to hear more about the stairs in this video, it sounded like the owner would tell a story in 3-2-1 ... and then he jumped in and cut him off. He is also very repetitive in his compliments. Apart from that, awesome videos, thanks for sharing :)
I was just thinking about that! His people skills are admirable he is so smooth, love that man
really JHO jr, i'm not going to use this format to knock you, but I'm entitled to my opinion and I've watched numerous videos of his and he is great at being the host & interviewing people. But don't worry, there's still a place in the world for video gaming idiots still at their parents place, knocking other's online. And apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, because your daddy issues are showing dork.
@@sabrinax4575 Totally agree, he's very likable. His method of interviewing seems laid back, which is what I like about him. You are not usually invited into someone's home for a robotic interview, that wouldn't fit the feel of the videos. Also, his comment about being tall was to showcase the ceiling height, not his. Plus, he is easy on the eyes :)
I totally agree it's so addictive lol
This look like the houses you build on your first time ever playing Sims

You’re not wrong
Yeah it does actually 🤣

I thought it looked familiar..😂
one of the reasons I like watching these video's, about tiny houses, is to see how people have used their space more efficiently.
I just love his sweet smile and genuine enthusiasm when speaking about his home.
I love how much this man loves his home, you can just see it the way he talks about it. So wholesome.
Like a child beaming.
Yeah reminds me of my dad when I got an A in school in a subject that was hard for me that he helped me with.
I know right, I love his passion for his creativity he has accomplished.
Every episode: 'Oh! This is LOVELY!'
SlightlyOddWorld I love his enthusiasm and genuine appreciation
'Oh! This is LOVELY! ISSSIINNNN IIITTTT
I believe his sincerity every time!
@@cici2O Plot twist: It's the same recorded voice used every time.
When you watch one after another, it no longer sounds like genuine enthusiasm. He needs a thesaurus. If he took a video course this is a critique he would get.
Watching this guy talk about all the creative things he came up with for their home is so inspiring. So much fun brainstorming went into it... Cool to see how every detail was turned into a fun mini project. One of my favorite episodes so far and a beautiful minimalist exterior too. Cheers!
I am binge watching these tiny house videos. Such charming homes and couples! It's good to see people wanting to live in a more minimalist way instead of being lost in consumerism and materialism. This year I'm getting rid of a lot of stuff I don't need and donating clothes I don't wear anymore. Only keeping that what brings me joy and what I actually use/wear. Happy 2020 to everyone and find ways to improve yourself. :)
After 1 year of watching your content , im starting to be able to keep a straight face everytime someone from New Zeland talks about the size of the deck.
Hahaha!
Daniel Gonzalez ...Not me..it still makes me laugh
Daniel if you havent seen it already look up Shcaeffers new zealand style deck sealant.
I was smiling at that, too! 😁
It gets me every time 😂
The inflatable bath was the "no way" moment for me.
Ikr
Ok ...that was a point what shocked me too, but just for a moment...it has all it is essential. The small area along the sink to the shower is very narrow, yes...but again the shower itself is even bigger than mine in our real big bath room! And I'd love the idea of that bath tub in my house, too, so I won't clean it everytime even it wasn't being used! ....haha.... clever idea! :-)))
Finally I wanted to mention, that I envy Bryce sometimes for getting shown so much incredible Tiny Houses! And wanted to thank as well, that he started this amazing channel!
I'm getting addicted to all the incredible ideas to make the most of limited spaces! That's great!
Oh I love it…I hate showers
These people are older, in many new builds the bath attached to the bedroom only has a large walk in shower. There will be one bath in the house for bathing kids. They may just have the tub for soaking after a rare day of strenuous activity.
Me, I'm a go in to the shower and contemplate my entire life person. But that's the point of the show, to show different tiny houses so you get ideas for you own build. I've seen builds where a quarter of the downstairs is dedicated to a bathroom, with soaker tubs. To each there own.
Here in the USA ,the Arizona desert, wanting to chuck it all and move to New Zealand. Absolutely beautiful, every time you visit a home in New Zealand, blown away by the beauty of nature in your country. Planning on selling a condo I own in San Diego and buying a tiny home. Now if only I could park it in New Zealand! Love your videos and your enthusiasm as well as your authenticity. Thanks for bringing light into what seems a very dark world, especially here in the states as of late. God Bless!
I love the tiny homes on a foundation instead of mobile. I love that you can stand in the bedroom with real stairs. Great tiny home!
These videos are so professional. The interviews are interesting, just the perfect questions are asked. The cinematography is amazing. I won't have a reason to watch channels like TLC anymore.
Are you a native English speaker ?..I have written a page presentation about smart homes so can you please fix it ?..
Bobi Rainy that’s so wholesome that you’re asking a random person to do that 😂
What we need are true small houses. Not the tiny houses, but small, practical, and affordable small homes for one or two people. Not everyone has a family to house. Even the senior housing communities pack in these larger 2 and 3 bedroom homes. Why?! The seniors are trying to downsize!
This house is not affordable to most. Look up how much the build and the land costs on this house.
Sears started this like a hundred years ago?! I remember seeing an architecture video and a family could order a pre-built house in a sears catalog or something.
Jessica G 200,000 New Zealand Dollars to American is about 135,532 USD that’s pretty affordable. I see house for half a mil to 800,000 in Metropolitan-Atlanta now.
i totally agree! i´ve been looking for a truly small prefab for ages, but even the ones marked 'for singles' have at least a 100m²....more then twice the size i want
He shows a variety of pricing and practicalities in the tiny house market
You don't know how much I love that "house" house shape. Looks like something a kid would draw :)

Finally see some stairs I could like! Steps are reasonable, especially for the younger and older folks. Most important, HANDRAIL! Self-closing drawers on steps to avoid trips and falls. Really appreciate the thought given to safety. 👏
I love the dude, he explained everything so well. Positive energy.
the house is ugly
But wife can’t get any word.
I really loved this one, a lot of the time when I look at tiny house designs I keep trying to re-image them in my head as something that would work as an actual house, instead of a mobile house. Great to see space saving designs used like this!
Love love LOVE how it's a stick built tiny house....... As opposed to being in wheels....very awesome!
Cheers!
Getting addicted to this channel...
Wordd
Me too.
Welcome to the club!
been watching this channel for a while 😂
The presenter has a lot to do with it
Given the size, it was strange for them to be so miserly with the bathroom dimensions. Surely they had space to allow another 12inches in width. The size of the vanity seems unnecessarily large for the space as well. A smaller basin, just a fancy chrome waste downpipe and some shelves would have been better space savers in there than the huge vanity..
Definitely got a kick out of your choice of word, "miserly" 😂
An inflatable tub is cool to see but looks like a pain in the neck and a flood waiting to happen!
Most of the time I find bathrooms to be too big. Granted I am not a bath person, so I generally am pretty quick to be in and out of there. I use it to do my private business and shower then the rest I do in my bedroom. So each to their own I guess?
I think about the amount of time to clean and the space. I’d be happy with that size easy maintenance.
I couldn’t agree more. That was the biggest surprise to me about this house. If it’s a forever house and your not restricted like a house on wheels like he said multiple times, why not bump it out 12 more inches to make it comfortable?
I particularly like the al fresco area being between the house and the car port - it makes the area more private, protected from the elements.
Kiwis know exactly what they’re doing when they say “deck”.
Please continue to cover static homes like this one with tiny house concepts! Thank you!!
They made tiny look roomy. ~Smile!
They sure did! The extra height helps make this place feel so much larger than it really is.
this is NOT tiny.
Tiny is supposed to be under 400 sq feet. You know, the maximum size that you can put on a trailer to travel with it. But I know what you mean. It's not the original idea where the tiny house movement evolved from. Not to mention the cost they spent. Gheeze. But I imagine they consider it tiny because they downsized. LOL ~Smile!
Living Big In A Tiny House not a tiny house.
And Chic
I love the people who live in tiny homes. They’re so passionate and humble.
This is one of the gorgeous ones I've seen in this channel, the exterior design is rustic but very modern without mention the large windows which give you that beautiful mountain views, just lovely.
This is exactly what I’ve been wondering: making a tiny house on a permanent plot of land.
I'm here for the fluffy cat.

Some of the homeowners on this channel seem a little shy or reserved, so I really love how enthusiastic Will is about discussing the fine details of the design and thought process of this home. Lovely video!
Gorgeous view from that tiny
house.
The views in Wanaka are out of this world. I love it there!
NOT tiny.
one of the house I have been seeing
Rarely see a man as tall as Bryce in tiny houses 🤣 This guy has a very positive attitude and energy. I love his tiny house. Even from the outside, the idea of tiling the roof into wall is so clever and make the house unique.
Omg that tiny kettle and toaster combo just melted my heart. he was SO pleased with it too:))) this show is everything!
I love seeing a static tiny house!! That's exactly what I want one day. Absolutely wonderful. Thanks for bringing us such amazing videos! Cheers from America.

What strikes me about this couple is how very innovative and thorough in their planning they were. Their attention to detail is really wonderful. I'm very curious about their careers - I can easily see them in highly professional, technical jobs.
Their home is absolutely lovely. What a wonderful place to live out one's life.
In the Philippines, this would be considered a mansion. Different places, different perspectives on what really tiny means.
355 sq ft is a mansion? I mean in the us, in 1850, for a family around 4-9, the average house was around this size. People live more in their houses' nowadays and less outsude. I think that's a large part of it but you're right. 355 sq ft isnt tiny fir 2 people in my opinion.
No, I guess she is referring by to looks of it? My house is this big but it's no where near considered to be a mansion. And yes this house is fairly big considering to be a "tiny" since when you look around the neighborhood, the houses appear to have a similar size to theirs'.
In NZ this is considered rich too. Wanaka is no where near affordable for the average person
here in malaysia a "tiny" house that size is a godsend! people in 3rd world countries could only dream of living in such spaces
True!!! So lovely to see other Filipinos watching this. I thought I'm the only one enjoying these videos
This was probably one of my favorite episodes!! Loved this idea. A permanent downsizing minimal house that isn't as cramped as one on wheels. Perfect! I love all the really interesting design elements they put in to it as well.
They even made a cup of tea for the cameraman, such nice lads.

That building envelope is brilliant. Very low maintenance and should last a very long time. And I love that they didn't go nuts on windows, as Tiny House people are want to do.
I love this design: the space, the colours, everything. Wonderful.

He even made her lift the bed up: 12:48
Haha omg I was thinking the same thing, would love to live there but not with that guy
Or maybe this lady is camera shy and didn't want to talk, so let her husband explain everything.
The husband helped design the house. So it makes sense for the person who knows more about the house to tell you about it.
So its the man with the idea, the concept, the technical knowledge, the execution of the plan and the woman nows nothing about it. That's what you mean? LOL@@scynapz
I know this is childish, but I could listen to a New Zealander describe their deck all day LMFAO

My goodness, that was a truly beautiful home in an ever more beautiful location!!
Love the big windows.❤
Awesome house! I'm also one of those people who admire the creativity of tiny housers and don't think I could do it full time. But I've been saying for a long time that there's no rule saying we can't apply tiny house solutions to standard builds to significantly reduce their size without sacrificing usable space. I've recently purchased a lot in my own town and I'm planning a small house on that concept. Great job!
7:05 She talks for the first time! lol
And when she did, she gave a peaceful vibe.
Liar. She said "hi" at the beginning :v.

This is the most functional, best designed tiny house I've seen. I might even be able to live happily in it.
Such a gorgeous, full glass wall. This couple had all of my favorites, from the view, the stairs, the style...beautiful.
See, I love this. And have been thinking about something like this for a long time. If you don't want/need the home to be mobile then using the same principles but with a little more leg room sounds perfect. It's still comparably tiny compared to standard, even small, homes. It's minimal. It's efficient. But it can be a little spacious at the same time.
Wow!, it's pretty in that area of New Zealand.
this is the first time i've seen big bryce looking up at someone
IMO this is one of the best (and smartest) "Living Big in a Tiny House" I've seen (admittedly I have not seen that many)
I love everything, except that bathroom.
The bathroom looks LOVELY, functional and airy.
Having to blow up the bath would get old very quickly I think. I treasure our very large bathtub.
It would be a nightmare for paramedics to get you out of the narrow space after a KNOF as you age (or have a carer come in to help you wash) I just don't think ageing owners should skimp on bathroom space.
Agreed
I got claustrophobic seeing that inflatable bathtub

Yes, when I saw his bathroom it immediately reminded me of a bathroom I saw in someone’s home in China ❤️
I enjoyed watching this couple sharing their joy in living in this beautiful home. ❤️😀
Me and my husband have always lived in apartments and about seven years ago we bought a full-size house. But it seems like tiny houses are just apartments not in a building. So I feel like if you went from an apartment to a tiny house it wouldn’t be that difficult but I would find it now, if I were to go into a tiny house and live now that I’ve lived in a bigger house that would be a little more difficult. But I think they are so cool and I love how people can come up with innovative ways to have storage and it just the little things such as appliances.
I think this might be my favorite so far. The layout is perfect, so much privacy.
Gorgeous! Love the design and it looked very spacious for a tiny modern home !
NOW ,, THIS is by FAR my Favourite Tiny ever !! I would tweek it to my liking and be off with it an Voila'. love this concept. Cheers !!
Ok this is probably my favourite “tiny” house so far... the architecture, the surroundings... and let’s be real here: the island is “8 cases of wine by 96 bottles of wine” in size 😂
You sound like my kind of people Hahahaha
Except his rationale behind "finding" that extra wine case space was the total opposite of good design. They eliminated the toekicks which actually serve a fundamental and necessary function for use of the benchtops. He thought they were being clever by getting rid of the toekicks "because that's the way they build kitchens now". Uhhh no, that's the way you build kitchens. Full stop. The hilarious part is that it's now fairly common practice to utilise
the toekick space for drawers. Perfect for oven trays, dishware and.... wine bottles.
Very pretty. And I love how the owner is so excited and proud of it.
They literally thought of every little detail and maximized so much space. Kudos to them, man.
