My mom bought me my first fountain pen for Christmas last year and as I'm sitting in my home office, I picked up the box and tried to write with it. It soon occurred to me that I needed to check 'youtube university'.
Thank you, so much. I just got a fountain pen as a gift. It both kinds of cartridges, but no instructions on how to assemble it. This video was very helpful, and it's working great now.
Same . I'm very grateful for this video . I recently brought a fountain pen . But I didn't know how to use one or insert a cartridge however this video was much help to me.
Thank you for this perfect tutorial, it was so simple, but it relieved my anxiousness. my fountain pen has disposable cartridges and I was so scared of puncturing it and getting it everywhere and I was so scared I was doing it wrong. This helps so much thank you
thank you very much. I got this pen about 2 years ago and didn't think to look it up online but i tried again tonight and had enough sense to look at videos. thank you very much!
Thanks, I've never used a fountain pen before and received one as a gift. I was afraid to break it so searched for an insturction and your video really helped me.
Thank you for posting this. I just got my first fountain pen and it came with a long cartridge (the plunger type) and no ink. I ordered international cartridges but when they came I saw they were so much smaller than the one the pen came with and worried they were not the correct type, and I was unsure of how to install them. Your video cleared up my questions.
Thank you for this! Super helpful. The only thing missing is how to properly write with the pen. I got one as a gift and tried to put the cartigest together since it looked like a spring at first. Now I know one is disposable and the other is reusable which is perfect since I have ink to go with it. Thank you for making this video!
thanks so much! this helped me a lot. i was literally nervous because i just bought a tad bit expensive calligraphy pen with cartridges and ink converter but i don't know what to do neither to use it. haha!
I love this, its 2023 and still planning to buy fountain pens and learning how to use them, but what I also like in this video is the music. Whats the name of the music?
thank-you so much for this video, i’ll be back to watch it again when I need to install the non disposable ink one! so glad the disposable one came with my pen, I thought I was gonna have to avoid making a mess. There was no mess!! Yayyy 😃
This was so helpful thank you! I was confused because I just bought my first fountain pen and I didn’t know it came with a refillable cartridge so I was very confused as to how it all went together 😂
Yes, you can use a mix of either the disposable cartridges or the re fillable cartridge in the same pen. But be sure to 'flush out' the refillable one, by removing from the pen after its empty. You do this by taking a container small tea light glass, put cool water in it. You dip the open end of the refillable cartridge in the water. Turn it clockwise to pull up water in it. Then turn counter clockwise to release the inky water. Put fresh water in the tealight glass. Repeat till only clear water comes out. Let dry. Then you can store it empty until you wish to use it again.
🌻Skew this. I still can't put one together😂 If I'd ask my parents they'd be like "Back when I was in school, it was MANDATORY to know how to do this. Can't you learn?" 😂🌻
@domeshizzni , The puncturing is to be done as shown in 1.04. That part has a small pin inside that will puncture the disposable one; puncturing with nib will spoil the pen's nib.
wow, thanks for this video! I just got a manuscript pen, with disposable cartridges, and I guess I could've figured it out but I just couldn't. So thanks for your instructions! I got ink on my fingers though 😂
Apologies if this is a stupid question as I am new to fountain pens. I was wondering, whether I could replace a 'piston converter' to simple disposable ink catridges?
Yes, you are turning it clockwise not counter clockwise as you stated. Other than that the video was alright. I just bought my first fountain pen, can't wait to use it.
i really dont know cause i just bought this Grape calligraphy pen that is plasti with 4 inks i guees and i dont know how to insert i insert it but ink just wont come out??????
do it work to you guys ? my one ink wasted because I really shook it to much and press a hard thing on it . It takes me 2 days to finally remove the ink marks to my hands and I still have 3 left I don't want to waste it how do it works to you guys ? needle won't work too.
When I put the ink cartridge (disposable, not reusable) into my pen it did not write. I took the cartridge out and blew through the pen so air could come out the nib (the tip) so ensure there was no blockage and it writes flawlessly now.
+Little life I was also having this problem until I saw much force this guy was putting on the cartridge. (In my opinion its like a really loud snap but that's just my opinion.)
I could use some help. I got a fountain pen about a year ago and it worked fine. During the summer though I didn't really use it. hen I came back to writing with it it worked fine until it started leaking. I opened it up and the ink cartridge fell out and now it won't click back in. Do you think it is possible that the point inside has broken off and fell out when I open the pen and if so how do I fix it?
But how do you put a disposable cartridge in the pen? When I tried there's nothing to take up the length set the refillable pen have so it just slides up and down?
You really have to push the cartridge in quite hard! I was pushing so hard I thought the ink would squirt all over once it finally clicked in, but it didn't and it works great now. After I felt the ink cartridge go in, I had to write for about 20 seconds before the ink started to flow out. Also, if you are trying to draw the ink into a refillable cartridge, you turn clockwise (as shown in video) when filling it, not counterclockwise as he accidentally stated in the video.
Same thing… It’s very hard to push. I also am afraid that the ink will squirt. I put it away for tonight. I’ll try it again tomorrow outside the house.
my parker frontier pen doesn't suck up much ink, rather when I pull the piston of the convertor down, I can see a lot of air bubbles coming out through the nib and its sides and back, each time I have to take out the convertor separately to fill it up properly and then reassemble it, its so annoying, what's wrong with the pen ? why can't it suck up enough ink with the convertor intact ?
i was taking off the lid of my faber castell carbon fountain pen and it disassembled itself, and now the tip of the pen is stuck in the lid and i got the rest of the pen but doesnt seem i can screw it back in? any tips?
So I received a fountain pen but it didn't include any ink for it. I don't want to buy ink, because the ink would cost as much as the pen itself. Is there a way to take out ink from cheap pens and insert it into the ink insert?
But what if you don't need your ink cartridge but you already poke a hole on it hiw caould you keep it can you just let it stay in the fountain oen but not gonna use for like 6 days
thank you so so so muxh i bought a pen and I didn't know how to put in the ink because I thought it would be the same as my other one and it broke so I got a new one and I got it in :DDDD
I have a question: when I tried to switch from a black ink cartridge to a red ink cartridge, the red ink became contaminated with black ink. How do I clean the ink from the top part of the pen so that it doesn't get into any new ink cartridges that I insert. Also, when I take the ink cartridge out, the pen writes normally, even though there's no ink cartridge.
I have a problem: I have decided to start writing with my Sigma fountain pen again it has been in a period of disuse for close to a year now after it ran out of ink, I replaced the original blue ink filled disposable cartridge with one filled with black ink, but the pen won't write. I have ensured that the top of the cartridge was punctured.
Hmm, so thats why i usually look like i bathed in ink . im doing it the wrong way lol. (i remove the converter from the pen then dip it lol) i was just afraid to dip the tip since its a hooded pen (i have 6 pairs now 2 hooded (one fine and one medium), 4 without hood (fine , medium , and 2 flex)
Who else bought chinese ones on ebay they didn't come with ink lmao. Also if you got a ink cartridges and it doesn't fit into your pen. You can poke holes into the nozzle of the ink cartridges, empty it out into a small bowl by knocking on it onto the bowl. Use the refillable cartridge to suck up the ink into the cartridge and put it into your pen.
It seemed so straightforward to put the cartridge in when I bought a calligraphy kit, but I needed this video anyway. Thanks for posting!

Frankly even with the video I don't get it. Not a very helpful tutorial imo
Have to admit, I was lost on how to load the ink cartridge, and disappointed about that. Your video solved my dilemma. Thank you.
my ink won’t come out,, help?
Thank you, so much. I just got a fountain pen as a gift. It both kinds of cartridges, but no instructions on how to assemble it. This video was very helpful, and it's working great now.

Many thanks for this vid. Got my 1st fountain pen today, had no idea how to install the cartridges. Sorted now!
Thanks for the help I got a fountain pen as a gift and I don't know how to place the ink so thanks :)
thank you very much. I got this pen about 2 years ago and didn't think to look it up online but i tried again tonight and had enough sense to look at videos. thank you very much!
I love how he’s replacing the ink of his gentleman pens finished in gold and I’m here with my sparkly glitter pen
Thank you! I didn't realize mine came with both, so I was very confused on how to put my first one together! This really helped!
Thanks, I've never used a fountain pen before and received one as a gift. I was afraid to break it so searched for an insturction and your video really helped me.

Thank you, I really need help by using a Cartridge for the first time, now its done, thanks again
I insert it...
But it's not writing!
Shall I wait or something? 😭
Update: it worked after i shaked it for less than a minute
Can you use a mix of disposable and re usable in the pen? As in once the disposable one is finished, use a re usable one afterwards? Thank you!

this is the best video i've ever seen in my life
I feel like such an idiot but your video got my pens working! Thank you!!!!

thank you for the help. got one for the holidays and now i know how to use it!
Thank you so much, I have the pump that came with my pen but can I use any ink in the pen ?
I was not pressing the cartridge into the pen with enough force. Thank you so much!
Apologies if this is a stupid question as I am new to fountain pens. I was wondering, whether I could replace a 'piston converter' to simple disposable ink catridges?
Thank you so much. It was very helpful.
Yes, you are turning it clockwise not counter clockwise as you stated. Other than that the video was alright. I just bought my first fountain pen, can't wait to use it.
The video quality is not perfect but, over all, really good and clear instructions. I like the music in the background!
Thank you so much for teaching me! U deserve a follow and like😊🙌💕✨
This helped me a lot it took me about three or two tries but it helped and when you said try not to get ink on your hand 🖐 well that didn’t go so well
Thx, I didn't know what the re-usable ink pump was, mine can with both ink cartridge and ink pump.
THANK YOUUUUU!!!!!
My STARTER calligraphy set with a fountain pen AND NOT ONCE DOES IT METION HOW TO ASSEMBLE IT
Excellent directions! I needed them.
Can you only fill the re-usable cartridge with that type of ink? Like the one in the jar? Or can you use the disposable cartridges?
So you have to just jam it in as hard as you can till it penetrates the cartridge?
i really dont know cause i just bought this Grape calligraphy pen that is plasti with 4 inks i guees and i dont know how to insert i insert it but ink just wont come out??????
me too with 4 inks on it

thanks +bernardo lover . okay, I hope that will works. I'm going to try it later

Mine works now! I already used the 2 inks my classmate just told me that you simply put the ink on the pen and yeah, that works .
I tried this but the ink is not coming out.
+Ahmed Yanaal Did you ever get an answer? ..I'm having the same problem.
+Little life I was also having this problem until I saw much force this guy was putting on the cartridge. (In my opinion its like a really loud snap but that's just my opinion.)
I followed this process around 2 times and the ink finally came. I still don't know what did it. Maybe I didn't push it hard the first time.
+Ahmed Yanaal Maybe the plastic was really flexible and it need multiple times to be pushed.
Same
Are ink converters and ink cartridges interchangeable in most pens ?
I could use some help. I got a fountain pen about a year ago and it worked fine. During the summer though I didn't really use it. hen I came back to writing with it it worked fine until it started leaking. I opened it up and the ink cartridge fell out and now it won't click back in. Do you think it is possible that the point inside has broken off and fell out when I open the pen and if so how do I fix it?
I just realized you can get a bunch of the disposable ones cut them open and get a little jar and dump them in.
so it’s one or the other right? like ur pen can’t do both ? because I may have to do what you just said
But how do you put a disposable cartridge in the pen? When I tried there's nothing to take up the length set the refillable pen have so it just slides up and down?
P.S. looks like that was CLOCK WISE, no?
Lol, sure was! I had to go back to double check!
Some cameras flip their images, so it looks like he is spinning it clockwise, but he is actually spinning it counter-clockwise.
No, he's turning clockwise :)
Yah it did lol
You really have to push the cartridge in quite hard! I was pushing so hard I thought the ink would squirt all over once it finally clicked in, but it didn't and it works great now. thank you! 😊
Can you use any ink for fountain pens or do we need to use ink for fountain pens specifically?
You need to use specific fountain pen ink.
Thanks for knowledge! Love the classical vibe throughout this instruction.. ;) =)
I don't really like parker's quink because it isn't waterproof, but if you just want it for writing, it's pretty much okay.
Um my pen came with both the disposable one and the reusable one so idk what to do
Can a nib be changed at any time? Or should the ink cartridge be empty?
Tq Sr fr showing how to fill ink pen using disposable cartridge,,, Nw I can do my paper corrections easily without depending upon d ballpen. 😃
How would I replace a disposable cartridge? The bit that was punctured is still in the hole so I can’t replace my ink

Thank u so much this is all I needed.
Thank you so much for your video 😊
Hi, my pen was gifted to me without a lid, is there any alternatives to a lid?
My fountain pen has a spring in the cartridge... It is supposed to be there?
hey what do I do when in I'm done using it can I leave the ink in the tube and just put the cap on
I am a beginner and messed up and put the Carthage in the wrong part and it is stuck is there any way to get it out?
Thaaank you. Finally found the right one
Ive installed the cartridge and heard the "pop" then assembled the pen and tried to write but no ink comes out. Whats wrong? What am i missing?
How hard do I press when puncturing the disposable ink cartridge?
I may be late but u I had to hit it agains a hard surface for it to stick in and work
Okay I just got a starter pen and it says to take the cartridge out of the pen. It's upside down and I don't know how to get it out, do I leave it?
can all fountain pens use the disposable cartridge?
Thanks you saved my life
So I received a fountain pen but it didn't include any ink for it. I don't want to buy ink, because the ink would cost as much as the pen itself. Is there a way to take out ink from cheap pens and insert it into the ink insert?

I was wondering what's wrong with me pen, the seller didn't give me a cartridge. How am I going to use this now?
thanks, surprisingly simple to just use a disposable cartridge!
Thank you very much!
Extremely helpful~
Thank you for the visual aid. It was helpful!
This was very helpful but can the ink wont come out of my pen ??
Um mine won’t close I put it in it works but it won’t close?
Thanks a lot!.. Was really helpful!
I'm so dumb, but I'm happy to hear that a lot of people share the same problem as me.
There was a ball or a stopper on my ink, how do I solve it?
Well fuck me sideways if this didn't work.
lbtstien123 lol
Thank u ur video was very helpful :)
Thank you, very informative 🙂
my comp has no audio so thos disposible one do u hav to puncture it with the nib??

SirWaffleGaming yes you can re-use a cartidge, you Will need a blond tip needle and just fill the cartidge up
Thank you so much this helped alot
ahhh I messed up and squeezed the disposable cartridge but I think I was only supposed to do that with the starting cartridge my pen came with
Thank you. I was reading the instructions to my Sheaffer Fountain pen like... What? Lol
What happens when the ink level goes down & you can’t unscrew the cartridge to draw ink ?
Thanks helped me a lot
