  • Now that Dave has rediscovered the 749 project, it's full steam ahead.
    With many parts to refit, Dave has decided to write a list, because he likes a list! And today's items to tick off are the new radiator and servicing the forks

    Some people that you watch on youtube have no personality and also dont explain what they are doing and why. I must say i enjoyed watching this video very much and even though its not the same as my 08 zx10r its still very nice information to know so thank you for the stunning video and hopefully it will help me in the next week when i decide whether to pull my forks completly apart or if im just going to do a fluid swap. Again thank you and im going to subscribe

    Love seeing the compression adjuster combined with the cartridge bolt or so it seems. That make sense ! Good video dave. Cheers from Canada with my zx7:)

    Thank you very much for this knowledge video. It gave me the knowledge and understanding to deal with the Showa front forks on my 999. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

    Great job! Thanks for taking the time and effort to show the fork service. I have always been afraid to do this, and to honest I still am, but I may give it a go.

    If you're looking to clean exhausts really well, use Harpic toilet cleaner.
    It's about the easiest thing to get that contains hydrochloric acid and it does a great job on mild and stainless steel.

    Very good video. I prefer to finger tight the shaft nut, than back off the adjuster few click before torque it. Just to avoid to damage the needle seat. 100mm air gap is also on ghe stiff side, i prefer to start with 130 and add if necessary. Did you like the stock valving?

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  Рік тому

      I thought the stock valving was surprisingly good, although my test ride wasn't especially long. Definitely a sensible compromise for a sporty ducati

    Fantastic video's. I have a Kawasaki versys 650 2014. When putting oil seals on my front forks is there a top and bottom to the oil seals. Stay safe

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  Рік тому +1

      Yes!
      The oil side of the seal, that goes furthest into the aluminium outer tube will have a bigger lip around the outside, and generally the seal code markings will remain on the dry side of the seal

    What a Christmas treat! Love seeing these get stripped down and all laid out nicely, soothes my OCD! I must tackle the likely 14 year old oil and crud in my Monster this year. What do you use to clean the parts and fork inners?

    Ordered same parts as you from K-tec, unfortunately neither of the bushes that they list fitted , the one that pushes in wouldn’t go more than a third in and the one that wrapped round had a 3mm gap one fitted
    Don’t suppose you have part numbers that you used ?

    Hi Dave
    Cracking video. Out of interest who do you use for the re plating of fasteners?

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  Рік тому

      DDG Plating in Nottingham. Good price and decent turn around times. I suspect some vehicle specific platers may get an even better finish, but for more money and longer turn around
