    The second solo is very good too, a lot of tasty double stops

    Awesome! This is one of my favorite guitar solos of all-time. I wonder if Zeke knew Scotty Moore back then?? Also, did Zeke do the solo in --- "Rock Around The Clock???" Thank you Randy for all you do!! You're an outstanding teacher and your lessons are very well organized and easy to follow. Thank you!

      Thanks for an excellent tutorial on an iconic country guitar solo! This style of guitar is wonderful but sadly overlooked and forgotten by most so called country music fans. Also the tone of your guitar is very close to the original. Well done!

    I think Hank Williams could have arguably been the first rocker. Listen to a song he did called “ Rockin chair money”. He was singing about rockin before anyone else

    • @ducktailcat

      He certainly had some rockin' tunes in his repertoire

    That's more of a jazz guitar line but it's in a country song so that makes it trickey to narrow down.

    What scales or arpeggios is Zeke Turner revolving his soloing around? It looks like some major and minor pentatonic. Would greatly appreciate it if someone could clear the haze for me!

    • @ducktailcat
      @ducktailcat  5 років тому +3

      It's almost entirely the major diatonic scale with some passing tones in berween. He added the minor third in some places for a more bluesy flavor.

    Randy, are those actual P90s in your Guild or are they the Franz pickups?

    • @ducktailcat
      @ducktailcat  Рік тому +1

      They are Lindy Fralin P90s

    • @MichaelHattem
      @MichaelHattem Рік тому

      @@ducktailcat Thanks so much! I have a newer X-175b and am really not getting along with the Franz pickups which are just way too bright and was thinking about putting proper P90s in it but I've seen others say they're not a drop-in replacement and can be complicated to install. Nice to see that at least it CAN be done (even if yours is not one of the newer models). Love your courses, BTW!

    I've been working on this for ages, and have everything up to speed except that run! So frustrating! Any suggestions?

    • @ducktailcat
      @ducktailcat  4 роки тому +1

      Well, just keep practicing this part. Start slow with only 4-6 notes until you can play those clean. Use a metronome!!! Start slow and and work your way up. Don't try to rush things.
      However, there is always naturally a limit for each player. Without knowing you I can't tell if you have reached the limit yet or not.

    • @highhorseman2067
      @highhorseman2067 4 роки тому

      @@ducktailcat Thank you for the advice, Randy. I'll keep working on it! And maybe I will finally put my metronome to good use! (I just never seem to take the extra step to set it up!)
