This is the almost inevitable result of decades when growing children "learned" that there were very few consequences to any of their actions. Want to scream NO and throw a tantrum...Hapless parents can only stand by and wait it out. Want to kick your parents? Go ahead, they CAN'T hit you back in any way. Zero discipline will always lead to anarchy.
Im an ex graduate with higher degrees but have been saying for a long time its time to consider closing down universities except those that produce real value for money and are not being funded by foriegn students, the university are a hugh problem in this country, they are no longer the institutions they were.
There is indeed a huge problem in terms of who gets to decide or measure the value/worth of higher education, and for the most part it evades the need to prove it's value. Students are led to naively believe that the institutions exist because those that run them have some kind of meta-knowledge that serves as a justification, but I would argue that the institutions persist largely because of that naive assumption. So long as students buy into the notion, the institution can keep doing what it's doing. The outcomes for students after they graduate generally aren't a concern for the institutions, since they simply need to keep getting a freshly naive influx.
The Oxford Union have just had a Pornstar there, who took part in violent and racist porn, and the students had no problem with her. The hypocrisy is laughable.
@@anjkeyou are reframing the question. Just because the family is best place to to raise children does not mean that every family is good. Obviously there are broken families. They are the problem not the reason to minimise family.
Thanks to Generation Z, those rights of free speech are under threat. The youth of today, who are lucky to enjoy the freedoms given to them by the sacrifices of those from the past - are now flushing those rights down the toilet. It's an absolute disgrace.
University leaders have a duty to stamp these childish ideas out of these kids, not foster and reinforce them. Bleak future for Britain if censorship is going to be virtue and ideas violence. This in Britain, the home of Milton and Locke.
'Phobic' means to be scared of something...why is it now used to accuse someone of being 'bigoted' instead of allowing a counter argument to the 'woke' ethical and moral view of a 'difficult' subject? 🤔
I have written off Oxford and Cambridge. Their admission procedure alone is a joke. It is all about your family background and not your ability. Oxford and Cambridge will start churning out (for the most part) substandard graduates because they were admitted from sink schools with lower admission requirements.
Let me tell you many leave and I agree - never lowering my sense of self you grovel gor a name that is nothing more than a club. My son is very bright and those two were never considered.
What Kathleen Stock seems to believe isn't even an extreme or actually difficult position/opinion. If anything it's the other side that is the extremist and objectionable stance
These children should be ignored. The real question that should be asked is how ideas of such idiocy ever gained enough traction to create "serious" debate. The ideas are banal and immature, and they are.
Go with Emotional Quotient values determined and set as the basis for ages 5-18 in defining personalities... And see what level of freedoms you get with those locked in shaping values over a lifespan in development. You can look over at the states and see it going on now. Imagine how ridiculous that gets when its handed out by non clinician "counselors" fully empowered by the Psychology Association.. and supported financially by outside groups independently seeking such generalized proforma societies.
The British Psychological Society supports these crazy theories (without factual evidence) and endorses courses at uni. These theories are part of anour institutions - schools, universities, NHS, companies. Critical race theory bring one. Highly sexist and racist and shutting out freedom of speech. If you disagree you're cautioned or fired.
Please remember, Kathleen Stock firmly believes that the _WOMEN_ have more intrinsic value than men. This misandrist opinion is a fundamental feminist tenet.
I can't believe I'm saying this twice in one night. Get a team together half pro transphobic, half anti transphobic. Open up an Excel spreadsheet with three columns. One Issue, one yes and one no. Then debate it, which presumably is beneficial in a student environment. Then mark the yes and no conclusion when an agreement is reached. Then publicly share the results. How does this get to be so hard? And please, take this off-line. The public is sick to death trying to deal with transphobic issues, along with everything else. Sort it out for yourselves, then take the results to the next level of your hierarchy. Let them do the same thing on and on until it gets to a vote amongst the public. Isn't this what democracy is about?
Solve (7y + 12) = (5y + 40) Basically 2y is the difference between 40 and 12 (which is 28). So y=14. Algebra is more about logic than the actual maths - very useful for someone learning coding. But don't ask me to do any long multiplication!
Surprised not to see anyone answer the 7y+12=5y+40. Saying things are equal means in order to maintain equality, if you add something to one side, you must also add it to the other. In this case the same goes for subtraction. Take 12 from both sides, giving 7y=5y+28. Take 5y from both sides giving 2y=28. Divide both sides by 2 giving y=14. Agree it is ludicrous to expect that of a 10 year old. 19 y/o I know probably left school with her head crammed with useless garbage like how to calculate standard deviation of local pond diversity, a skill which she has a 0.00000000000000000000001% chance of using IRL, but was shocked to learn that bread had different slice thickness...
Colin Wright biologist expkains BINARY SEX very well. Those ssying sex is aspectrum should go for NOBEL PRIZE this a paradigm shift in and an amazing new dicovery in biology.
Today´s students were raised by the Snowflake generation. They believed that no matter what the child did it should be praised and rewarded. The child was never wrong and anything they did or said was based in a developmental context. The normal opposition to opinions and behaviour.that kids learn at home was not present. So these kids grew into the University and High School Students that we have been ´blessed´with today. Terrified of opposition. Melt if told they are wrong. Unable to distinguish between the reality of life from their wishes, wants and emotions. Ah, but one day, they will find themselves in the big, wide world .... and then ....

don't hold your breath on that one , not anytime soon anyway
It's not difficult ideas, it's just objective reality.
University spreading wokeness for decades complains student body is acting too woke.
Sympathy level: very low.
You should review the decisions & guests at Oxford Union on these topics before you say that about this particular university.
@@d3w3yd3c1m4l Are you denying "woke" bs is ubiquitous in our universities? I went to Exeter in 2003 aged 40 wish they'd been woke then lol.

open discussion is vital to education, without this all is lost.
FFS if 10 year olds are distraught and left in floods of tears by simple questions like that on their sats, they may as well give in now.
Current student at Oxford. Most students don't actually care about this situation (we have exams very soon). It's small minority that are very loud.
Current student at Cambridge. It’s the same here. She spoke in a debate at the Union and most people didn’t even know she was coming.
I'd like to know how many students are against free speech at oxford?
prob a incredible small %

De-platforming eventually leads to states where factions like the Nazi party can flourish and become mainstream
It was once the greatest university, now it’s just a polytechnic.
Free speech should be fought for at all times the minute we lose it we have lost the most important battle and life will become intolerable

Criticizing/mocking Christianity is hate speech, if criticizing/mocking Islam and Judaism is hate speech
Identifying biological sex isn't difficult. Also it's not an idea, it's a fact!
If it is it is unlikely to remain one of the greatest universities
Free speech at Oxford Uni is an oxymoron as Its one of the most expensive places to get an education! Daffy duck could have got those questions right!
This debate wouldn’t be possible without free speech.
About time these univrsitys were closed down😊
If oxbridge wasn’t run by money most of these “students “ would be told to get lost.

Everyone throw around this word "woke." I seriously doubt many of them really know what it means.
"Woke" is postmodern ideology that places everyone on a hierarchy of oppression and refuses to acknowledge the existence of objective truths.
Woke - modern maoism
What do you think it means?
