Great reel for open flats and finesse fishing. Absolutely love mine. But for about $80 more another 1.1oz of weight I'd take the new sustain in the same size. Sustain built with the HAGANE body with the mgl rotor.
The thing is, the Sustain is a worse reel. The Sustain is based off of the previous gen Stradic (Stradic FK). The Vanford however, is based on the new gen Stradic (Stradic FL). The Vanford (and the Stradic FL) has a long stroke spool (longer casts due to the line needing to change direction less, taking away friction), the same X-protect seal found in the Stella FJ and the same AR clutch found in the Stella FJ. The Stradic FK and the Sustain does not have this. The Sustain has a worse version of X-protect.
@@Foo87 yup. But the body is ci4+ unfortunately. I don't know what Shimano did to their ci4+ material for the vanford vs the old stradic ci4+. Not as strong in my experience. The New Sustain is so amazing 😍 just sold my Vanford 3k and got another sustain 3k. So well built and very strong but yet lightweight still
@@artificialslinger9730 these are all quite light tackle reels, nothing is really gonna make the Ci4+ flex, I use my 4k vanford for snapper and kingfish and have felt 0 flex in the body even when the drag is almost locked up. Havnt yet seen any failures in the body's. But if the sustain is better for you then that's all that really matters 😊 fish on brother 🤙
@@Foo87 oh I haven't personally haven't had any flex either on the vanford. But you can definitely feel the strength difference in hand without even fishing with them.. I'm just saying with the ci4+ you run the risk of having frame flex issues not necessary you will. I have ocd and anxiety so I tend to over think and look at all possible scenarios as possible 😂 That's why I stay away from diawas junk LT series. When I owned the ballistic Lt , back bay lt and Fuego Lt all them frames flexed on 3lb bass and 20 inch snook and reds. That was no joke. Even had 2 of my buddies take those reels for a spin to make sure it wasn't just me. But to be completely honest the Shimano Twin Power FD is my favorite Shimano now. It's all aluminum reels ( hagane ) as Shimano calls it " solid core reel. But the price doubles from the stradic / vanford. Like wise brother . Keep those lines tight 💪🏼🔥🙌🏼
Can’t see it for the money over 200 I’ve been using the 19.99 shimano and I have a Stradic and a eltigra the eltigra is as good. The cheep one works like a champ so far whites and strippers. W 5/8 spinners in a 4 k

@@mediyuliadiyuliadi1578 Shimano fixed that issue in 2019. Ifthat worried about the line roller bearing just take it apart and coat both sides with Shimano drag grease. That Grease will make a seal. 💪🏼
Yup. Go with the 3000 if thinking about this reel. The 500 , 1000 , 2000 and 2500 vanford comes with felt drag washers , the 3000 , 4000 and 5000 comes with carbonfiber washers. Carbon is better imo. They won't fail on you during a fight and you probably will never have to replace them
Nice for bass and pan fish. The fish I fish for would strip the gears outta that little toy. I use 80 lb braid and throw 8 Oz swimbaits. 2 different types of fishing
