Thank you Aaron for taking the time to do these videos. I did both sides 2009 Tahoe motor mounts and trans mount. The passenger side is much worse than the drivers side. I had a hard time removing the passenger side mount out of the engine compartment because the engine will not lift much before hitting the tunnel, even with all 3 mounts unbolted. On passenger side I had to separate the mount from the upper plate before I could get it out and same to re-install. All in all, I spent around 15 hours over three days. Not easy! Btw, I did reinstall the heat shields back on both sides. THANKS AGAIN.
It is easier since you dont have a front differential that's in the way.
I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to post this video. I followed your instructions and it work out just fine without disassembling any additional items. You saved me lots of money and time. Have a great weekend!
Very helpful I followed the video and had no problems
Big O tire quoted me $275 ea for the mounts and $1500 for labor and it will take 7 hours!?! Wow! Ripped off ass*****!!!! Thanks for video!
Don't get scammed, those places specialize in ripping honest people off who just don't know
I was getting charged $1005 for labor just to replace one 🤦🏾♂️ I rather give this a go
No heat shield?
Yea ok good luck following this dude
Hey man thx for the help ima do it this weekend I knew u didn’t have to do all that like it was a damn car fucking suvs Tahoe’s are the easiest to work on I swear
Hi, thanks for uploading this video. Did you have to loosen the transmission mount before lifting the engine? I dont plan on replacing the transmission mount.
No didn't need to loosen that
hi, i folow ur instruction. it works well but after installing new mount, my idle became rough, specially at reverse, you can here the strong vibration in reverse. have any idea i missed something here?
i would recommend checking the other side motor mount make sure the bolts did not loosen from the repair on the other side
Did you cut the heat shield off of the mount?
Try a 4wd with the heat shield on the mount.
Wow, thanks brother. I figured you didn't have to disconnect anything and lift the engine very high at all to replace these. I'm guessing the passenger side motor mount is just as easy correct?
Wrong i just did both sides and the transmission mount
the passenger side is worst i had to drop the starter and wrestling the mount out the bottom
@@eidenreyes2365 I figured the passenger side would be harder, but still can't be that bad. I got quoted over $1,000 to replace them if they are even bad. I haven't had a chance to check them yet because it has been raining nonstop so hopefully I get a chance to do that sometime today, but it can still be done at home by yourself regardless without taking a bunch of crap off and lifting the engine too high. Essentially all you need a an inch tops to wiggle that mount out and the new one back in.
Frank Murray I agree with u I did it at my garage by my self change all 3 mounts transmission and motor at once but no doubt I’ll do it again no problem to save over a $1000 dollars the “stealership “ charges.
@@eidenreyes2365 yeah I did the driver side motor mount on my '07 Tahoe and other than the block under the oil pan not lifting the engine enough since it lifts the engine up level when I needed it to slightly tweak the engine up on the driver side it all went fairly well. And true about saving money as well. I had a trusted shop quote me over $1,000 to do the mount and was like damn, talk about robbing people blind. All I will do is go back and check the bolts once more to make sure they are all still tight and that's about it. I am also changing the driver side wheel bearing/hub assembly and both factory front rotors to slotted/drilled rotors and new pads and hardware. The bad mount that wasn't as bad as some I've seen and the fact that my Tahoe had 24 inch wheels on it caused other premature wear so I'll address that and be done with it for a while. I try to do all my own mechanic work I can to save money.
ua-cam.com/video/eOPJEOggHwM/v-deo.html Passenger side and i didnt Remove anything but the motor mount itself! i did it with one 15mm ratcheting wrench, 1 socket wrench with extension and 15mm socket.
That looks like a 2 WD fwd is much harder to remove
4x4 not fwd. Fwd is front wheel drive. And 4x4 is not awd. All wheel drive and 4xr are two completely different systems.
What would be the best place to Jack up the engine
I jacked it up at the oil pan at the very rear. Remember you are only slightly "lifting it" to give enough room to remove the mount. Dont Jack it up too far or you will regret it
@@aaronfixes8400 got it. Thanks. I seen other videos of people jacking it up from the exhaust intake. What do u think about that? Sorry for all the questions
@@his357 sorry didn't see this reply until today. Give us an update on how it worked out
Just to confirm, there are only 2 motor mounts, one on each side plus the option of adding the the transmission mount? I have a 2013 yukon denali all wheel drive. thanks
You will need to do more work with the awd setup. There's other videos available you should watch to get a better idea.
Yeah try doing mount with front axle in the way that where you need to take other parts off i can do that one in 25min
What about a 4x4??
Othr side difficult.
You removed the heat shield from the motor mount that mount will not last 6 months..
Update april 2021: two years on and mounts are still tight.
@@aaronfixes8400 would you admit if they boiled out ?
@@christopherthomas5972 sure why not? I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong I dont financially gain from posting any content online
The whole point of the shield is to keep from boiling the oil in the mount.
Try removing the motor mount in a 4x4 and see what happens there no getting anything from the bottom, only from the top or work thru the wheel wells and then it is hard work to get the mounts out, Trying putting that mount with heat shield on it back in without messing up the shield.
By my wife's logic, i saved 700, so I bought a pewpew.
I don't guess you ever changed the passenger side did you Aaron Le?
I will upload the video of the passenger side

No heat shield on new motor mount won't last as long
2 years still good
Only reason it was that easy bro is because you don't ha e a heat shield. Most models have a heat shield so it won't be this easy.
This only applies to the 2wd the 4x4 are a different story
Lol, add an hour with the heat shield!!
Haha exactly!
2wd
It won't be that easy with a 4x4
