Just subscribed. I have to do this on my 08 Silverado. Yours is the first video I've seen that has a torque spec.
Wow that thing was cooked. I have to replace them in my 85 C10 pickup. Thanks for the video, excellent quality and straight to the point!
Best. Most direct method I have seen. Great video. Thank you.
The best damn video on how to removed a motor mount. Thank you so much

I’m subscribing, straight forward videos easy to understand and not too much talk, plus i know you’ll see a lot of silverado’s since you live in Texas with is what i own. Win!👍🏽🇺🇸
In the old days we'd just chain them down. Your way is much better. Have a great Christmas Oz.
My GMC Sierra is doing the exact same thing,I will be doing the same thing as you did. Appreciate the info "Happy Holidays"
Thank you Oz. Good job. I appreciate your videos. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Have a blessed and safe New Year.
I have the same truck but it's an EXT and I am about to do this job. It took me a minute to figure out why this looked so different from mine. It's because mine is an all wheel drive so in that beautiful open working space on this video there is a massive front differential right there which makes a mount swap from under the truck near impossible. Easier to do it from the top by removing the steering shaft.
ScarabChris, how did this project go? Did you do the passenger side as well? I can't seem to find many videos on the passenger side. Like you, I have a AWD and will be probably taking out the steering shaft.
not a bad job and its not even pcm controlled ! oz have a wonderful Christmas!
Thanks for watching. Like wise
Thank you for showing the torque specs too
drop2015 no problem. Thanks for watching
Reverse will do the same thing just on the other mount don’t forget to check it as well
Forgot to add...thanks for the vid!
Would it be a good idea to replace the other side or ???
Definitely doing mine this way also thanks for the video!
Merry Christmas OZ and take a few days off you deserve it...
Great information.
I need to replace this mount tomorrow.
Sweeet hope all goes well
You doing very good job 👍👍👍
Nice video 👌👌👌👌
Very good teaching 👍👍👍👍👍
Good teacher 👌 very much
Keep up the good work Happy Holidays
Zero rust. Couldn’t believe he got those nuts loose by hand so easy.
Jonathan Rodriguez that’s why I love Texas except for the summer. I’m sweating my ass off just replying lol
Very helpful, thanks bro !!
Like to see more motor mount vids
Trailblazer motor mounts maybe
Great vid
Ty
Ok, I'll see if I can get one. I just did this one because these GM' shave an issue with their motor mounts
Thank you!!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
I just finished replacing my driver's side engine mount. I have a 2007 Yukon Denali AWD. It is near impossible to do it from underneath because of the transfer case. Your doesn't appear to be a AWD. I replaced it with the Hummer H3 mount which is solid rubber, not the crap Gel filled original that came with the vehicle.
Merry X'mas and Happy New Year to you Oz
gonz garr thanks. Likewise to you and your loved ones
Straight to the point.👍👍👍👍👍
Good work thanks
Thanks for posting the video.
Thanks for watching Karl
Great job
Thank you
Thanks
Great video.
Thanks. It’s been on my hard drive for a while. Glad I finally edited it
Cool tip 😎
That's a big engine... but better the mount let loose, than a supporting member.
Thank you! Chevy wants 1700 to fix this. I said I’ll do it myself
If it’s a 4x4 and they are doing both sides. I would let them do it. It’s a pain in the rear end to do
good video
I’ve had bad experience with after market motor mounts. I always buy oem
Corona light yea I’ve noticed the mounting holes don’t match up on aftermarket mounts
@@OzMechanics Even some OEM mounts dont last. You need the H3 Hummer mount if you want it to last. Made for a little more abuse and much longer life than the GMC/Chevy/Caddy versions.
Chukwuemeka Onyema so the hummer h3 mounts fit on the silverado ? What yr if you don’t mind me asking ?
@@OzMechanics the H3 mount is on the police trucks which is why they are more durable. I cant remember part # off top but I think it was like an 09 H3 mount that fit the 07-14 Tahoe/Silverado/Suburban/Escalade. If you do a google search on tahoeyukon forum, there is a section dedicated to this.
Eey man!! All your videos are so amazing !! Cuando harás uno en español para nosotros??
The motor mount you replaced , was only the drivers side? Is it the same process for the passenger side?
Can you make a video to replace the passenger side ?
I have a 2007 Yukon Denali XL AWD, I need to replace the motor mounts. I've seen a lot of online videos on the Driver's side motor mount replacement but hardly any on the passenger side mount. Why is that? Do you really only need to replace the driver's side? On a AWD, the passenger side looks much more complex. Any advice is appreciated.
Normally speaking, the passenger side gets less damaged but if this has been going on for a while the passenger side will damage. As in how does it come out.... when I do them I remove the exhaust manifold and slightly Jack the engine up. It’s a hard job !
@@OzMechanics i think its safer to remove front diff than to risk rusty bolt breaking in cylinder head
Hey Oz how long did the whole process take you?
Tyler Hayes all depends if you have a lift of floor jack
can you change it without removing the cross member ?
orville58 I removed the crossmember just to support the engine while lifting from the oil pan. If you use an engine hoist you don’t need to remove the cross member
@@OzMechanics ok thanks love your vids
Do they sell Factory Motor Mounts In AUTO-ZONE?
there is only one motor mount?
What model yeah is this?
Love your videos and they only help me confirm that GM parts is a piece of s*** that's not even made in America any more. Give that new motor mount a good cross-country drive and you'll have to replace it again.
M Piper make sure to watch my newest video. Will confirm gm trash parts
I just put on new poly mounts from Atomic Fabrication & Performance, if anyone is looking for GREAT quality mounts and MADE IN THE USA (Alabama), take a look at this guys product! Its a little more then other options, but the quality by far is better then anything I have seen, TBD how they perform but I'm confident they will!
Process for 4wd:
*Remove wheel/tire
*Remove inner fender well
*Disconnect electrical connections in the way
*Remove manifold heat shield
*Remove broken mount heat shield (ripped it out by hand)
*Remove mount bolts
*Jack up engine using catalytic converter, this will create enough space to maneuver the old mount out. It's like a puzzle but it can be removed through that space.
*Install new mount
*Reassemble
Did this today, it was a bear of a job, the worst part was the bottom mount bolts that did not want to come out. The threads are exposed to the elements and have a lot of built up crud. No way to access them to clean them I just sprayed them with penetrating oil and kept working the bolts back and forth. About a 4 hour job. Once the mount was unbolted I was able to manipulate it through that space by turning it upside down and around.
I put the new mount in the same way I took the old mount out, it took some finesse but I was able to get the new mount in place relatively easy. If you're having a hard time Jack the engine up some more. I took the time to clean the bolts and the threads before reinstalling so that I would not have a hard time with the bolts going back in.
I did not have to drop the front diff, I did not remove the steering shaft and nor did I remove the exhaust manifold. So it can be done without removing any of those items.
The manifolds( bolts) on these these vehicles tend to break off very easily and will create exhaust leaks. Happened to my wifes tahoe. This is also a bear to repair. Would recommend not using any part of the exhaust to jack up on with these particular motors. Use the 2x4 and jack on the oil pan. Otherwise this job is indeed a beast for the home mechanic.
Le me: looks easy let’s do it.
Le truck: drops engine wedging it on fire walls.
Le me: -_-
my tuck is 4 wheel drive
That’s a harder job to do
My GMC Sierra breaks motor mounts like it’s nothing .I keep having to replace them.
acdelco....cheaper ones go out super quick
Wouldn’t you be better off replacing both motor mounts?
I found that the effected motor mount is the driver side. Even when lifting the engine up to remove the motor mount passenger side stays intact
Both motor mounts and transmission mount. If one is gone the others are not far behind.
👍🏾👍🏾
Seem to be a common issue with GM trucks. And that damn heat shield is useless...As every one of the mounts I seen. They are split right down the middle...
I think it still moves to much ?
The motor mounts are rubber and you will have movement
these are all 2x4 do an easy one on a 4x4
Yea 4x4 is a different story. Luckly I’ve done a tone of 2 wheel drive chevys and only 1 4x4. The city I’m in really doesn’t have many 4x4’s
Not for an AWD
AWD sucks
🙂☕👍
Your truck looks like a rwd! Not so simply in a 4wd!
money paper 4wd sucks
Great job.....but that engine was still movn....im just sayn
The engine is still going to move. The motor mounts are made out of a rubber material. Thanks for watching
💪😎🇺🇲
A shop just told my son $1100 to replace a motor mount in our truck.
For both sides. That’s not a bad price if they are the gm ones
@@OzMechanics do you do the test in park or drive?
That motor look like it was about to jump out of there don’t know who’s truck that was bro but that motor was jumping look like a rabbit
