Great video man. I had a very similar issue last winter. The truck would start to over heat at low rpm’s and going slow or at idle. I tried a cooler thermostat from the parts store and it wouldn’t solve it so I tried the water pump from the parts store agin and it still was having that issue. I decide to go with the oem thermostat and finally that solved it. Taught me to never cheap out on parts as it costed me way more time and money from the first cheap thermostat.
I vaguely remember as a kid in New England it was pretty much a ritual to change your thermostat in the fall to one the opened at a hotter temp to make heat. You had to change back in the spring to avoid boiling over.
My burban did this to me this morning. I’ll be doing the same job either today to tomorrow. Didn’t even think about the thermostat. Talked to one of the mechanics at work before going in the field. He mentioned that could be bad. 🤷🏽♂️ we will find out.
Great video I'm hoping mine goes as easy lol.. i keep getting the engine hot shutting off ac .. but it's never overheating. I'm hoping replacing this does the job.
Now I’ve just recently changed the Tee quick connectors and heater core hoses on mine, doesn’t seem to overheat when I’m driving but I am worried about my transmission temp. Didn’t pay too much attention to it and keep in mind I drive my Tahoe to work everyday, 9.6 miles going and coming, I’ve noticed when I get home my trans temp is will be at 144. I’m probably overreacting and what not right? Idk but would changing the thermostat also affect trans temps? Thanks to whoever answers my question and sorry for the long essay 😅
Torque spec is like 10ft lbs.carefule not to overnighter and snap bolts.easy fix.keep Driving, maybe you can get a few more lights to come on ,on that dash.!..
Would you want to maybe diagnose my issue?? 2013 Tahoe. Check engine light will come on and then a few days or a week later the light will turn back off. It'll do this a few times... Off and on and then with the check engine light on, engine heat gauge will stay buried at 160, so just not gauging. My dash will flash that my engine is overheating and A/C has been turned off. Earlier this week, with the check engine light on, I couldn't get heat to pump through the vents very much. Is this a thermostat stuck sort of situation?? Thanks! Ps. Don't know much about vehicles or vehicle repairs but I do try to learn. 😂
I Just Replaced The Thermostat In My Dad's 10 Ford Expedition 5.4 274k Miles And Topped Off The Coolant And Still Have No Heat, It's Never zran Hot And I Thought Replacing The Thermostat Would Fix My Heat Not Working. Heat Was Working Fine In The Fall.
Just did this to my 2015 Silverado last month I replaced the thermostat sensor first back in November cause I was driving one day and noticed it said the truck was cold and the fans kicked on so when I looked up what could cause that it said it was the thermostat sensor so changed that worked fine 2 weeks later said it was cold again and this time I changed the thermostat and truck stays at 210 now cause before it would just stay at 190 wouldn’t even see 210
Dude, turn your bottle over so you can pour it in without spilling it all over. Then as the level in the bottle drioa turn it over to pour out from lower levels.
My tahoe i just bought is doing the same thing. Gonna swap out the thermostat tomorrow morning. Thanks bud. You did a great job on your video.
My 2012 Silverado is doing the exact same thing! Thanks for the video.
Good job, now stop running your truck on empty. Go get some gas man.
Im telling you man they pick up trash in the tank like that gotta keep mine on full even if i top it off from half
@@darrenjenkins7730 half a tank is as low as my tank gets.
@@ScubaSteve0224 same here mine too i just topped it off today and put it back on full

Thanks for posting this video. I just watched your video and ordered the part.
Simple fix and helpful for those years. And can I make a suggestion on the end of the video. Can you add some vehicles like big Betty and Clifford

So if I may ask, why don't you fix all those warning lights on the dash??? I can't stand 1 light to be on and you seem to have a few.

Need a wheel speed sensor to clear up that gage cluster. Had the same problem on my 2009.
Could just use your phone to get an accurate speed
I love the kit on truck!!!!
What was all those other lights on? Lol thanks for the info, going to change mine in the morning and see how it goes.
You put a something on the ground to catch coolant ? Or it doesn’t stain your driveway ?

I wonder if it’s the same case with the 14-19’s? If so, and when and if the time comes for mine, that’ll be an easy day.

Betty also has low oil pressure. A 5.3 typically runs with 40 psi of oil pressure
Depends if it's aluminum or iron block
90% of these gmt900’s read low oil pressure, there is a screen just before the sensor that gets junk in it and messes w the reading
