Our lower unit seized up Wednesday of last week. We thought found a new one the Friday of last week but the person that listed it lied. It was for a 90. Not a 150. We couldn’t find the correct one for a 150 until the Tuesday of this week and we didn’t get it installed until yesterday. You’re not the only one that had a broken down boat on the Fourth of July.
Pulling coil input leads will throw codes in the PCM. While effective, it can put a fault light on your dash that can only be cleared with the factory CDS G3 diagnostic tool.
Helped my buddy replace one of his reverse cables on his Yamaha 242 just before the 4th...the mechanic told him mid August. Also the part on ebay cost like $30 more than it did at Nielsens. That surprised me. I appreciate you, thank you for sharing your skills knowledge and experience
A few times I had to check what channel I was watching, Dangar Marine? Nope Poppi’s Reggaeton? Nope. Buenos Dias Mates! Let’s put another cabrito on the barbie!
Thanks for the video! If it was the Meter Probes showing a faulty reading, then what was the problem with the misfire(s) on starboard? Clogged internal fuel filter?
I see a guy at our marina working on his engine....he had an umbrella upside-down in the water under the engine ,just in case he dropped anything..... I thought what a great idea 💡...👌
Oh man Aaron you could've "forgotten to put the drain plug in" 🙄 and solved all your boats problems jk man! I was in a boat with a 2020 25 hp Suzuki and we parked it and went to use it again, nothing no juice, didn't turnover, nothing 😂 Hope you had a happy 4th regardless! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Seems like all that particulate inside the vapor separator begs the question......how did it get past the fuel filters? It also questions the state of the fuel tank.
Marina gas..... it's water, once the fuel with water gets pressurized and pushed around through the fuel system, it coagulates into that white snot looking stuff. the fix is to install a canister style in-line water separator, you know, the kind that looks like an oil filter And of course, changing gas stations may help.
Interesting that you didn't perform a fuel volume output test out of the FSM. If your fuel pressure gauge has a pressure release button with a drain hose (which yours does not) It's fairly easy to do.
Did you go to UTI?! I noticed in one of your videos you have a UTI Blue Point Multimeter! I want to move to Florida, need another boat mechanic?! I’ve been a Audi/Porsche tech for 18+ years, but I love working on boats too! Love the videos!!
GREAT VIDEO maybe some pico scope action is in order, boats and engines are getting like cars requiring $7K+ in diag tools now...and a factory subscription for $1600 A YEAR.....YUP
Y'all keep switching between Danger Marine Stu Aussie voice and Alfred Montiner Cuban American. Mucho bueno mates. On a side note, I also broke down on the lake last weekend =( dirty fuel blocked the anti-siphon valve, AND my linkage busted. The testing you do is important for all us fools that don't have the knowledge. I think you released pressure from the fuel cooler that sits on the outside of the VST, but it looks different on this motor. You guys also tested the continuity of that float, but what numbers should the read? I think my merc has them in my manual, but I'm not confident in my settings on the dang cheap multimeter i purchased off amazon. I tried to validate my stator and voltage regulator were good, but I was lost on the diags. Show that detail too! Love the content guys!
I've been watching your videos for a while now and appreciate these tidbits of diagnostic knowhow. Are we allowed to ask you for input on issues we might be having with our own boats?
Go to their site, you can sign up and they have a huge knowledge base and even a discussion board I believe for questions to be posted. It’s been a while though so not sure of the status.
There were so many things that would keep my old Mercury 250EFI from getting fuel. But if you could make sure it had fuel and a fresh set of plugs, it could run from here to the moon.
I have twin 99 Evinrude Ficht 200s and had the Stb one lose power (stall) after riding out a storm on a nearby lake, restarting immediately with full power. Next day it ran great until it didn't, and I had to limp back with no more than idle on the bad engine. I am suspecting fuel issues, but they get their fuel from the same tank, and Prt was running great. It COULD be something got wet. But I will be using this video to start the diagnostics soon. The ride through the storm was interesting. 2/10 would not recommend.
Should have b-roll of your holiday guests standing on the dock yelling suggestions at you.. Have you ever tried a beautiful woman expert? How much would your viewership jump?
i've dropped a brand new cordless drill, a generator (gen-set) my entire tool bag, a new windshield wiper motor and probably a hundred screws over the years
Not old enough. It has to be old enough to have reed valves but not oil injection. 40 to 60 years old. Those are simple and run forever even at wide open.
Should have filmed the car load of friends waiting in the lot for their holiday boat ride :)
100%
🤣🤣
The trick is to have no friends

There is a much easier way to diagnose any Merc. F.S.M using G3 to monitor the data .

Replace your fuel filters more often in the boat and on powerheads for re assurance due to quality of fuel.
I was just waiting for a bolt, or the drill, to fall into the water.

Modern outboard are so sophisticated. This is their strong point but also their weakness.
Great informative video, as usual.
Thanks for watching!
Suzuki made a fix for this mercury problem lol

I truly enjoy your show! And your marine expertise!!
Appreciate it!
This is channel is one of my favorite channels. I thank you for what you do you.
Glad you enjoy it!

Please do more of these videos these are so awesome! What fuel pressure gauge do you have? Thanks for everything content is amazing
Glad you like them!
Do you have more issues with suzuki or mercury I'm the saltwater, corrosion etc?
Marina gas... seen it a hundred times. Why don't you have a remote water fuel separator?

Great information guys and thank you but, what could be done to help prevent either one of these issues?
Micky C
Great Channel. Am a 2stroke guy but with content like this I feel I can own a 4stroke.
Sweet!

How many boat parts have you dropped in the water? You are so brave!
Visual inspection (aka the easy stuff) comes FIRST.
This makes me happy i kept my 2006 Yammy 90 2 stroke and not change to a newer 4 stroke. Sheesh....
Great video, just did this same kind of video with a Yamaha.
What was the test you were preforming on float?
I'd have thrown half of those screw and small parts in the water. Guaranteed!
Should have b-roll of your holiday guests standing on the dock yelling suggestions at you.. Have you ever tried a beautiful woman expert? How much would your viewership jump?
Yes this July 4th! Please and thank you!
What year engines?
Looks like a fun day of work
There’s the problem right there. MERCURY 😂😂
I feel like someone should invent a net that will go around and under an engine to keep parts from falling in the water
upside down umbrella with a notch taken out
Excellent tutorial!
videos have been much more entertaining with the new guy to lighten the mood hahaha
Does anybody Got any fuel additives that you would suggest for a pair of Yamaha 250's
Buick Eng.
To you experts here giving your opinions can you please provide a link to your channel so we can watch you ? That would be great !!!
Bradley Crenshaw You said what a lot of us were thinking.
Don’t forget the fuel pressure reg screen
i got 2 old mercury 250 was sitting down a few years but in very good conditions
i have 1977 formula that i just fully restored preping to paint now
your videos helped me alot
ever work on Evinrude?
what kind of shades do u wear dude
Keep the videos coming 👍👌
For sure!
Love this channel
Umm on those model outboards the first thing should have been hook it up to the computer. FAIL
Almost thought that was Black Point
After seeing this mess of a motor I went out and Kissed my Tower of Power. Dirt simple just runs.
Alot to be said about the simplicity of the 2 smokes. Have twin 225 Ocean Runners.
How many tools have you lost in the drink over the years 🤣
Awesome skills!
How do you guys not drop tools and parts in the water while working like that lol
Fun, Thanks 👍
You bet!
Have y’all ever lost a power tool in the water?
i've dropped a brand new cordless drill, a generator (gen-set) my entire tool bag, a new windshield wiper motor and probably a hundred screws over the years
ProV1’s and P790’s a winning combination
Like your videos, funny you showed that bad clip on meter, fuel for the comments.
Your charge for hours ?
Yes more fireworks!
I am not brave enough to work over water
How old is this engine?
Not old enough. It has to be old enough to have reed valves but not oil injection. 40 to 60 years old. Those are simple and run forever even at wide open.
Nice job
Oh no!
Love the flag
Скажи пожалуйста почему меркури 60 не держит холостой ход .свечи новие
Bc it’s made in China
nice flag!
Nice
Damn Mercurys I think Yamaha is more reliable . Maybe 🤔
Holy shit! I thought it was a woman, this Big Don. hahahaha.
Lmao I was wondering how no one said anything
Moobs.
@@samiam9365 lmao
Buy Yamaha or Suzuki you never broke in holidays again
Wanne buy a suzuki... has some work🤣
Sounds like a $700+ bill at the local boat mechanic (if he is smart / honest) if u don’t fix this yourself.
Bankruptcy On A Trailer.
Bloody hell why you mates speaking freaking Australian Spanish
Oh no that's not good. Should have bought a Yamaha🤡
