    Inspiring! I have always been afraid of “non running” boats, motors Etc, last week I got a killer deal on a boat with a garage kept low hour 50hp Yamaha. I cleaned the he fuel tank and filters new fuel lines and she started right up! All because I have been watching your videos!

    I have a similar Yamaha 25hp and they are GREAT motors! What a deal!! I really enjoyed watching you work through the issues one at a time. I would have loved to see you do the rest of the maintenance on it as well like the oil change and what ever else you might have done as part of the tune up process. I want to learn myself as I feel like my local marina is not the most honest place. Keep up the awesome content and easy to follow editing style!

      @TT I know it was $150 cause i can read minds using youtube. Also cause he posted the ad and said so. Runs good cause its a clean start warmed and cold start in the water. It pushes the boat though incoming waves on a flat bottom boat. Compression is good and even ware and tear one cylinders. So if everything is in spec it should run to spec. Only other way to know more is to ask him to buy it...

    I just bought a 2000 Johnson 40hp VRO outboard, console, controls and cables for $500. It was on a boat and being used when the guy decided he wanted a center console rig. He took it all off and delivered it to me. I had to sync the carbs, install new water pump and rebuilt the tilt. Someone had previously cross threaded the manual hydro release screw. It’s a beauty now. I think I have a lil over $560 in the whole thing and he threw in a new 6 gallon fuel cell, and interstate deep cycle battery that puts my new Walmart battery to shame and an older Evinrude Scout deck mount trolling motor. Yea, I thought I got a deal until I saw your video.

      Why not? Carb kit probably doesnt even cost $30 for that motor. What would be so difficult about it?

    • @bsrktm1
      @bsrktm1 3 роки тому

      @@gamesofcontent That carb was massively corroded- all that crap that fell out was corroded aluminum dust. A carb kit isn't gonna fix that. An ultrasonic cleaning might save it, but that 4stroke carb is still a lot more complicated and finicky than a typical 2stroke carb. Better to replace it with new or a good used one.

    It's nice to have OE Japanese bolts. The heads are almost always even sizes. Hardware store bolts are typically odd sized heads.

    Knowledge is POWER! If you have the tools and the know how you can save yourself a fortune in repair costs. Not to mention knowing when to take a chance on something and when it's better to walk away. I bet you make well more than times your money back when you sell it. I've seen motors like this for sale on Craigs and Marketplace and they don't come cheap in running condition!

    Debris gets all gunked up in the gears for the timing belt in those... just take the cover off and the belt and you will see a bunch of crap stuck in the grooves. It is a haven for mice and debris when mowing. Give it a shot, it's a Honda!

    Looking online I'm seeing prices for these 2010 Yamaha 25hp 4-strokes for between $1,700 and $2,200. I'd say you got a GREAT deal, enabled by your know-how and skill, of course!
