Motorhead were officially the loudest band in the world, everytime I saw them, I was deaf for 2 days after. Lemmy was a great lyricist, intelligent, well read & a real gentleman, he's sadly missed.
I have a signed photo of the man himself framed at the foot of my bed.. nothing can motivate me more than Lemmy staring me down "like what" each day.. my dog has even started to try and hump in rhythm to the Ace of Spades
My first ever gig was Mötorhead, in Leicester, 1980, aged 14. I sneaked out the house, walked the seven miles to town and at the end of the night swapped 10 John Player Blues for a t shirt with the t shirt bloke as he'd run out. Got caught by my dad sneaking back in the small hours. My ears were ringing, I was grounded for a month and mum refused to wash my mötorhead shirt as it looked horrible! Worth it!!
Think I was there was it at De Montfort Hall by any chance? Saw them numerous times all over the place? Last time at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in about 2007/08?
I was 12or 13 years old when TV broadcasted the "No sleep 'til Hammersmith" tour in my country (Sweden) back in the early 80's and I heard Ace of Spades, Overkill, Bomber and Motörhead for the first time. It changed my life at an instant. No turning back after you've heard this.
Aah Lemmy... so many stories, so many anecdotes, so many memes... One of the best I remember: Michael Jackson: "God sent me into this world to make music. Lemmy: "No I didn't!"
Now, the way to hear this is to put your head between two BIG speakers and crank it up until your eyeballs vibrate and your tooth fillings drop out! That's the way it sounded on the many occasions I saw them play this back in the 80's. People at the front of the auditorium walked out afterwards looking like they'd been caught in an air strike. Just pure energy!!
Motorhead is my favorite band. I've seen them many times over the years. I have a tour shirt that says "Everything Louder Than Everything Else". That and what Lemmy once said, when you leave our show your ears should be bleeding. Listen to the recommendation of Kevin Eather, The Chase is better... I also suggest Love Me Like a Reptile. I'm 69 and I've been there since their beginning. Even Lemmy in the band Hawkwind.
I could be wrong but "Everything Louder Than Everything Else" was first coined by Deep Purple on their live album Made in Japan from 1972. You can certainly hear Ian Gillan saying it between songs 😉😊
@@eddhardy1054 The first records I bought, in 1975 second hand were 24 carat Purple and The Dark Side of the Moon. Those two records defined my early life, plus obviously the ones that followed. My woman from Tokyo. Time. The Great Gig in the Sky. Highway Star, ffs. So fuckin lucky to have been born in the Sixties, and grow up in the Seventies. John Miles: " Music was my first love, and it will be my last..." Well, and motorbikes. And I can't play a note. Long live Rock and Roll buddy!
When my daughter wasn't even two, I had a loud car stereo with sub. I fastened her into her child seat and got in and turned the motor. From the back she shouted, "Daddy! Ace of spades, ace of spades!" I knew she'd be a good 'un.
The guitarist FAST EDDIE CLARK left around 1980, he formed a band called FASTWAY, the only video they had was called SAY WHAT YOU WILL, then a few years later he rejoined Motorhead, check it out, the singer is 18
I still remember the time I read that drummer Phil(thy animal) Taylor "broke his neck horsing around backstage". Never did hear the rest of THAT story.
Your reaction "I want to listen to it again right now!" -- I been saying that since I first heard it way back in 1980. And every time I see a reaction video I love it.
Dead mans hand was aces and eights held by Wild Bill Hickock when he got shot in the back of his head in Deadwood South Dakota way back when in 1876...the table and chairs are still there...
Meatloaf was written for Harly riders, Motorhead was written for petrol/gearheads. The Ace of spades is a 6 cylinder saloon/sedan driven to the absolute ragged edge against V8 powerhouses and nimble 4 pots
My room mate/ best friend introduced me to Motorhead back in the day (too long ago) He use to listen to this so loud when he was driving, I would end up with a head ache for the whole day! Funny, I ended up with the vinyl album in my collection years later! Motorhead put the 'banging' in 'head banging'!
This takes me back to the small town where I grew up, where we used to hang out in a certain local pub; the beer flowed, the jukebox played only hard rock, everyone had long hair and leathers and motorcycles were all lined up outside. Eventually we all moved on and life slowly sucked us in, but more recently some of us seem to have regressed… 🏍️🎸😬
Lemmy's a total legend. He gets referenced in more movies than you would believe. Larger than life total rocker but never took himself too seriously. I remember him doing an ad for insurance company taking the piss out of himself.
well kids, welcome to one of the pioneers of speed metal. the lead singer Lemmy is and was (RIP) one of the god father's of the amazing blood pumping meter I grew up on.god I wish we all could go back to the 80s.
Great reaction from both of you two. Well, since you've started down the Motorhead rabbit hole and you like the energy in this song, then the next one you should do a reaction to is their song titled: "Killed By Death".
Lemmy was the coolest, baddest, bad ass guy on the planet, he was the absolute artist in not giving a fuck what people thought, the rarest of people. RIP.
Ian Fraser ("Lemmy a fiver") Kilmister (along with G'n'R guitarist Slash) was born just down the road from me in Stoke. Sadly, all three of Motorhead on here have passed. Even more poignant that I was in contact with 'Fast' Eddie Clarke for a few months before he checked out. This for many (Lemmy, Eddie and Phil Taylor) were the classic lineup, though not the original. Many changes followed, but the quality, and volume, has always been top notch.

I never got to see them. Always thought I'd see them on the next tour, or the next, or the next. One of my biggest musical regrets.
One of the greatest English bands ever. RIP Motorhead
Probably the most underplayed and greatest bands ever.
One of the greatest band period!

Still can't believe this is 40 years old. I was there when they released this and it's still at fresh today
I love seeing people hear this song for the first time. If you want to react to another Motorhead song, I'd recommend "Iron fist" or "Bomber".

The guitarist was so good, he was a founding member and staple of two bands. Fast Eddie Clark was the guitarist for both Motorhead and Fastway.
Edddie clarke wasn't the original guitarist, it was Larry Wallace (Pink Faries etc)
Best British heavy rock band ever!
When Lemmy was asked what he thought of Kanye West and he replied "Never heard of Her..Legend!"

I saw Motorhead twice in one night on the Ace of Spades tour in 1981.
My ears were ringing for a week, but it was worth it. Great shows.
Very enjoyable reaction. Thanks for giving me a fresh perspective on this song.
When my daughter wasn't even two, I had a loud car stereo with sub.
