I got one of this units, but when I compare the source vs the tape recording, the tape sound much brighter and thinner than the source, that has not any sense right? It would sound warmer and a bit darker I guess. Do you know which could be the problem?
Hi Patrick, any advice on an irregular playing speed? It starts out fine and after a while it gets wobbly... something with the motor perhaps? Also, what band whas that very last song in the video? sounds great!
I recently found a Basf bobine 15cm tape when I cleaned out my mothers house. I would love to know what was on it. Can a tape like that be played on the Akai 4000ds MK II ?
I have done it by ear. One really needs the test tapes which cost a lot of $. Most of the time these adjustment screws are glued down so I don't mess with them.
@@patrickoconnell3896 I don't mess with them. I did experiment with an old cheap Sony using an "O" scope, tweaked for high freq. But didn't find it out of alignment.
Nice machine
Good job, Pat! Another one saved. Nice unit.
Thanks

Nice looking tape deck.
It is a nice small deck, 16" X 12" X 5" and only weighs 25 pounds.
I just found one of these. What did you cleat the rollers with? Renew?
Nice job pat
Thanks. This deck was well taken care of and came with the operator's and service manual.
Hello Patrick. Have you ever tried to adjust the azimuth on a reel to reel?
