Back in 1975 or so my step dad came home with an Ampex 1/4" reel to reel tape deck. It included a bunch of tapes with no labels. One of those tapes had this album on it. The other album on the tape was Pink Floyd. We never could figure out who this other band was. I have searched far and wide for decades and then I found this. One of the greatest mysteries of my life has finally been solved.

Indeed...I feel like I am going through my second childhood discovering all the great bands out there I missed out on the first time around. My discoveries in the 1970s were via the dollar bins at department and record stores...both Dust albums were common cut-outs back in the day....

I think UA-cam was the best thing that happened to music in the digital age. When I buy music now, it's 99% of the time something I discovered on YT and know what I'm in store for. Why buy an album if you don't know if you would like it? I find it a better alternative to the radio, which doesn't exactly help you discover music anymore.

The lead singer gave a short 1-2 minute anti-drug talk (the pretense under which they were invited I believe, lol) and then they got on with it. I always remembered their name. Very talented young guys. Listen to Marc Bells drumming on their second album "Hard Attack", it's amazing! He was only 15 back then.
Richie Wise was incredible, he played guitar left hand like Hendrix. After Dust he stopped playing at 21 and produced the first Kiss album.

Around '71 or '72 these guys played my High School! The flyer read "After the dust settles" Concert was after lunch, tickets were a buck or so, it was a half day friday. They were good! As I recall, about mid-show they brought up the lights and rolled out their really fat drummer- introducing him as their "better half".

Perfect!
