Hi Jim, just wanted to tell you that watching your videos has inspired me to get in shape and do the hike to Grey Owl's cabin this spring(short trip by your standards, long for me) I only live about 2hrs away from Waskiseu/Prince Albert National Park. Thanks again for the inspiration, tips and kick ass videos.
Jim should have a minimum 1 million subscribers in all honesty! One of the hardest working dudes on UA-cam. Anyone I direct towards his channel says the same thing. We need to keep this channel growing to ensure this great content keeps coming for many years to come. Keep up the good work Jim.
I totally agree. The content keeps getting better and better. The drone shot in this one were BBC worthy. The amount of work he puts in the production is crazy. Carrying all this gear and never a word of complain about it. I'm not sure why he does not use a dead cat though. But it's probably just not possible on most of his gear. Maybe he should wrap it up in old man's beard. :)
Its about time you two old farts got together again. First time I met Buck was when you guys worked on the Long House. Now some of that ash bark has been repurposed on Shawn's new workshop. Thats spirit bark that carries the memories of all you guys ( and dogs) into the future. BTW. Happy birthday old man
Editing, music, drone footage, historical knowledge, your narration and your calm attitude is the best on UA-cam, or any documentary I've seen on TV. Jim, you have it nailed to perfection! I am totally captivated by WHAT you do, as well as the professionalism of exactly HOW you do it! Thank you! I've been 'liking' and a subscriber for quite some time. Continued safety and good health! Hoping the 1 million subscribers comes soon. Been recommending your vids to others.
You're definitely one of the most responsible and sensible kayaker I've seen on youtube. All of the things you ad, the ropes, the float bags, and the lifevest even are consistently ignored by so many others i see on youtube, and it gets people into so much trouble. I would definitely feel safer in your kayak than mosts.
Jim, I'm thoroughly enjoying your videos here in Germany, where sadly we don't have too much wilderness left. Thta's why I love the mountains around here so much, it's the only spot with barely any signs of civilization. I dream of doing something like you do, canoe trips and camping in the wild, but it will most likely be just a dream since one needs years of experience. But at least I will try to visit Canada at least once in my life! Every Canadian UA-cam I watched so far was super nice, including the people they met, so it must be a common thing.
Thanks a lot, ya we are known to be nice in average. You should come for sure and maybe try a trip that’s not door remote to start out. Thanks for watching!
Most of the paddlers I met in the Yukon are from Germany; in fact, I think guides are expected to be able to speak some German. There is a daily summer flight from Germany to Whitehorse. My (German) paddling partner had never paddled a canoe before. Our guide was German. Some rivers are suitable for beginners. You should visit.
Waited all week to have the time to watch this episode uninterrupted. With a foot of snow falling in North West Michigan and a pine scented candle burning it was worth the wait! We share the same passion for the woods and the canoe. Btw. The native flute music was really a nice touch.~~~
@@JimBairdAdventurer well it fit in perfect and the translations from native to English also made it even more informative. Think this was one of your best episodes. Outstanding!~~~
Oh boy at 43.56 just before the falls! I can do this! You hit the eddy! Where’s the concierge service ha ha Ha! The drone shots are beautiful! Thank you Jim for taking us along! ❤️❤️🔥🔥❤️❤️
Great tip about hydro cuts! I probably would’ve assumed it leads to a city or town, but now I know that if it’s in the wilderness, not! Hopefully we never need to know that, but it’s a great pearl of wisdom.
Too bad about missing that trout Jim - I was pulling for you! Another sensational well edited and shot vlog! Always excited to see new episodes pop up on my feed- thank you for sharing your awesome adventures!
I watch all of your adventures on our TV so I don't normally get to comment. When you said you thought you heard the waterfall, then didn't, then did my 3-year old said, "Silly Jim!" She wants to go camping like Jim Baird!
The adventure continues! My wife has started watching this series with me. Prior to this she would only watch Jonathan Kelly’s Lost Lakes. I think she hooked on Jim Baird Adventurer!
Epic. Legendary. I love every second of this series. It feels like I’m going on a mini vacation every time I watch. Super super grateful that we can tag along with your adventure. Wishing you great health and many more adventures to come.
Love these videos, the scenery alone is so breathtaking. I want to be there , but then when you see an expert like Jim facing obstacles proves I would not be up to that sort of adventure. So I can live it out vicariously here. Thanks Jim.
Living the dream. Thanks for the excellent content Jim. You might not realise it but for some, this escape to the wilds is true therapy for the soul. Stay free and stay happy.
Hi Jim I,m from the UK, I think your films are amazing. Every film I see is an adventure. So much to learn, I wish I was a lot younger!! As for your ' Husky' he's absolutely brilliant, I've trained working dogs all my life, his sense off balance is amazing. Please keep up the good work.
Watched Arctic on Netflix. Thought, Jim Baird could have done that in his sleep. Lotsa drama, pain suffering etc. Will watch when the wife gets home. Enjoy your channel.
been on this adventure since episode 1, pretty cool to have such a long trip recorded and made into so many episodes... you provide allot of lengthy videos and not many others do.. which i like, i like the longer videos... stay safe
Really love watching your videos, I can’t believe some of the stuff you put yourself through. “Complete Gong Show”. Cracks me up every time I hear it. Have you ever thought about doing any videos of your hunting trips? I’m sure they would be a big hit. Thanks for your hard work to keep us entertained.
I have been binge watching this playlist the last few days. I am so excited to see the rest of it as I have paddled the Missinaibi/Moose Rivers a few times and have always wondered about the North French River. One of our boat tour guides from Moose Factory talked about going up the river to a moose camp and I was even more intrigued about paddling it. After watching your struggle I don't think I'll be rushing there any time soon but I'm happy to experience it through your videos. I haven't finished this episode yet but I got super pumped when I saw the hydro lines. It reminded me of seeing the hydro lines in the distance on the Moose that cross a couple of km before the train bridge at Moose River Crossing. The lines that cross the Moose come from the generating stations along the Abitibi and power both Moosonee and Moose Factory. When I saw yours I wondered if they were connected. I also looooooove maps so I got on the satellite view and tried to follow the cut. To the west of where you were, they go to Detour Mine and to the east they hook up with the lines along the Abitibi at Island Falls, just south of the Abitibi Canyon. I am also curious about the gun, I think it looked like a shotgun. Was this for safety or hunting? I've mostly heard of taking guns along the more northern rivers where polar bears are concerned, but would likely entertain the idea of a solo trip myself if I had one along with me.
The last group did this route in the spring which was way easier. There were no leaves in the bushes through the clear cut portage and then the creek was way easier to navigate for them too with the higher water and less vegetation. I think the way to do it to skip all that would be to just start at the North French River proper and get Cochrane air to fly to to French Lake. Ya, the gun is a 12 gauge shotgun. There were no open hunting seasons while I was there, not for small game anyways (bear was likely open) so mainly it’s for bear protection, black bears and the small potential of polar bears near the coast which are showing up more and more around moosonee lately. It’s also good for survival incase if some sort of emergency but it’s not really necessary. My wife feels safer when I take one when I’m all along out there. In Ontario, you’re not really aloud to carry a gun unless there’s an open hunting season and you have the legal firearm and game seal for that animal.
@@JimBairdAdventurer yes a fly in would be great! The last couple times I've done the Missinaibi, I've flown into Bells bay ... gotta love skipping all the portages haha
