Jim Baird - Adventurer of Alone Season4: 11 Days Solo Wilderness Camping in the Arctic Watershed - E. 12 - Sunrise Mist & Low on Food:
I awaken camped at a pristine waterfall where sunrise mist rises up from the whitewater. After retrieving my foodbarrel, boiling water with my JetBoil camping stove and loading my dry bag I begin portaging. I take a shortcut and run into some waterfall danger before I begin fishing for trout to no avail. I need to use a McGiver wilderness technique to fix my fishing rod. Ledges in the way I negotiate them and run into some whitewater. Fishing is not going well and I'm concerned as I'm low on food and I go through my provisions to take inventory. After paddling 35 kilometres, I find a nice campsite, make camp and settle in for a well deserved nights sleep....the next day will include some serious, advanced level whitewater and I'm a little nervous.
On this trip, I'm prepared with proper outfitting - survival gear including trail tape and ready to solo whitewater rapids, bushwhack and portage in the Arctic Watershed. This film series is about bushcraft survival in the woods where I’m truly alone in the wild, deep backcountry camping, using wilderness techniques, exploring, and fishing Northern Ontario by canoe. Beginning on a remote river I reach via a forest access road, I solo wilderness travel to reach the advanced level whitewater of the North French River. I then paddle on the Moose River, completing the trip some 330 kilometres later in the community of Moosonee where I catch the Ontario Northland Polar Bear Express train. On this adventure, I solo paddle, catch Walleye and Northern Pike, trek, paddle and camp. What’s better than catching wild trout for a catch and cook over the fire in the wilderness? I also find a remote, trapper’s cabin, run multiple whitewater rapids, undertake long, bushwhack portages and see a lot of wildlife including Moose sightings.

Your low water situations reminds me of a story I read about a Missouri steamer struggling upstream over a sandbar back in the 19th Century. The boat’s engines were straining, paddlewheels were churning madly, and every member of the crew was holding his breath as the vessel crept inch by inch over the bar. A woodchopper living in a cabin on the river bank chose this moment to
come down to the stream’s edge for a pail of water. As he turned away with a brimming pail, his action caught the captain’s eye. “Hey! you!” shouted the exasperated captain. “Put that water back!”

Loving this series, thanks so much. Looking forward to bingeing on your other adventures too! I'm impressed with your dedication to getting so much video footage... I know that takes discipline when there's so much to do, and skill, both of which I lack 🤣

I really enjoy your video adventures Jim they’re so real balls n all, but I would like to see you worry less about time limits and daily distance and just immerse yourself completely in the experience. Also looking forward to the day when you hit 2 million subs you deserve some success
