The other thing you might look at is that you're letting your bassist know you have their back out in public, which tends to inspire loyalty in them.
As to the getting laid part, he had that down when he was a pudgy drunk out on the road. Now that he's lean and well known, it's gotta be like falling off a log. Especially because he's aware of his surroundings enough to lean in on things like pronouns. Now, this might get into a conversation about who he is as a person, for whatever it matters, but I suspect that the hurdle of authenticity is harder to overcome for people acting out of alignment with what's between his ears, but I suspect that some part of a person who has a modicum of piss and vinegar in them might not have any compunction about making a moment awkward by correcting another person on their word usage. I suspect he appreciates the power dynamic that exists in the moment, being the revered featured artist.
