Actually, IICR, Picard did reprimanded Troi for getting involved with a guy from a society they were trying to help. I think there are rules about this and the same applied for when Harry had to kept his relationship with an alien woman secret. He had no professional issue when Beverly fell in love with the Trill. He should have reprimanded Troi when she was dating the negotiator from The Price though because it created a conflict of interests.

DS9 was peak trek. I love long story arcs and the war with the dominion consumed parts of 5 seasons. And because it was a space station you really got to know the secondary characters.
I love that DS9 has a resident blabber mouth. Dax is 300 years old mix with a 25 year old woman and likes to spread the dirt. She is way messier than Troi and crusher were on the enterprise. Is anyone else tickled that Sisko wanted to know what the hit was all about too?

I think its also a demonstration of how Worf and Odo are both quite similar in personalities, like their little discussion in "Crossfire" where Odo gives Worf advice on not letting people feel welcome in his quarters to prevent them from returning. They both have a mutual admiration for one anothers work and personality.
