The Charakter James Bond was invented as as a white british man with blue eyes and black hair. Enough People went apeshit when Craig was casted, cuz he has blonde hair, and for these insane Fanboys that is already some sort of Sakrileg, since all the actors before him fitted that description somewhat. Casting a Black guy in the role will make them go insane and no matter how good of a performance Elba would give, he would forever just be referenced as the first Black Bond. I also don't want him as Bond, but because he is to old. They need to cast someone end twenty to early thirty.
Angelina Jolie's character in wanted is supposed to be black, Ben Affleck played a hispanic man in Argo, Johnny Depp played Tonto, John Wayne played Ghengis Khan...but yeah, a black Bond would be a travesty lol
+The Bandog But nobody said that Bond should be portrayed by an Asian lesbian Muslim. The only major difference between Elba and every other Bond is his race.
+The Bandog "Do you think an Asian lesbian Muslim James Bond would work in films?" I literally said that nobody is asking for this. "How about a white Black Panther?" Well, seeing as how T'challa being African is kinda important for his character, being the king of an African country and all, that would be a bad move. James Bond is a British secret agent who's race doesn't really factor into anything. "Or a Hispanic female Joker?" Well, again, the Joker's race was never a really important part of his character, his skin being bleached white after all. Also, the Joker has been a woman before, in alternate universe stories. "Why on Earth do people think there ought to be a black Bond?" Nobody just wants a black Bond. We want Idris Elba as Bond. His race is secondary to the fact that he is a great actor who could portray the character well. You're the one fussing about the guy's race.

To be honest , I don't usually like opening sketches, I prefer when the reviewer just goes straight into the review... But that opening made my day, its just a perfect parody of overblown James Bond openings.
He’s thrown in some pretty hilarious little gay jokes about himself. In the terminator salvation review he super casually said something about the T-1,000 actor being great at something, then casually said “and in bed” and you could barely tell he said it. Comedy gold. I wish so badly that Ralph made more reviews like these. They don’t have to be about horrible movies either he could do great movies and still tell hilarious jokes.
I got just one question: _How the fuck do you make James Bond vs. The Illuminati _*_fucking boring?_* That should be impossible to fuck up, but Hollywood managed... they always manage...
List of James Bond movie with a better opening than Spectre: Everyone of them, Goldeneye for the Wii and Metal Gear Solid 3 despite it being not even a james bond movie
Actually, about that intro. The song was originally done by Radiohead, and it was titled after the movie. They rejected it cos it was "too dark" or something. It doesn't really have that "badass" vibe you were talking about, but it's a hell of a lot more of a Bond intro song than Smith's. And it's a pretty good standalone song too.
I live in Mexico City and I gotta clear some things up: 1.- That parade wasn't a thing until this year and barely anyone went to it. 2.- This city is packed with beautiful architecture, particularly where they shot the film. You can't see it because the entire opening sequence is more brown than most early 360/PS3 titles. 3.- There were multiple instances of corruption involving the Mexico scenes and it's obvious that they approved them to improve the image of Mexico considering the dissapearance/murder(?) of 43 teachers, the drug wars and multiple problems. Not that it helped.
i'd argue the Timothy Dalton bond films were the first attempt to make it "realistic" its a much darker Bond, unfortunately people weren't ready for it.
Shame that Dalton only made two movies, He was the closest to Flemings Book Bond. Licence to kill is the Best adaptation of a Fleming story despite not being based on one of his storys.
Yeh I didn't like how he dismissed the 80s there, yes Moore's films carried on being mostly camp (Although For Your Eyes Only was pretty serious) but Dalton did two good entries in the late 80s so it wasn't a complete write off and Brosnan's films weren't too bad either.
I guess with Dalton its a case of less is more, to be fair to the Bond producers they did actually offer him the role immediately after Sean Connery (He would've done OHMSS) but he was only in his 20s and thought he was too young since Bond was spose to be 40s. Imagine if he had taken it though it would've derailed Moore's turn and then the canon would've turned out a lot different.@@KaladinVegapunk

with this film I had a hard time believing and caring about anything bond himself did also, why did batista try to kill bond on the train if waltz wanted him to see the command center?
To be fair, the original James Bond started semi-grounded, it only got silly with Goldfinger, but even in Goldfinger, it was really clever movie. The villain has a laser which is used to: cut metal. They do that today. The gadgets involve a GPS tracking device the size of a lighter, they make that shit today. His car has a GPS navigation device, they make that shit today. The plot of that movie involved the use of a dirty bomb to create economic chaos, that shit is still relevant today. Even when they were being silly, they were still ahead of time, which makes the movie interesting to this day.
Quantum of Solace is a tough watch, every single scene where they're talking gets cut abruptly to do so stupid chase/fight scene. It borders on painful. This is the problem with the Bond franchise now, too much action. One of the most memorable scenes from Goldfinger, for me, is when Bond goes golfing with Goldfinger to switch his ball and put a tracking chip on him. They just talk and feel each other out, we see beneath the surface of what Goldfinger wants everyone to see when he gets angry with his poor golf game and starts cheating. You know, it develops characters and moves the plot along. If that scene was shot today it would have ended with them beating each other over the heads with 4 irons after a chase on high speed golf carts, then M would come in and say "Now we have no leads, but go here for no reason whatsoever."
Quantum of Solace is like that because around the time it was written a lot of writers went on strike, they received the script 2 hours before they went on strike so the production team was left to do a lot of the rewriting themselves. So instead of waiting for the writers and not knowing what they were doing they padded the film out with action scenes because they don’t need writing.
The lack of 'intrigue' was what did this movie in for me. There wasn't enough tuxedo-wearing casino-attending, villain-organization-infiltration. Bond may seem like he sucks at aspects of his job at times (subtlety) but he is still a spy. He should spend more than a single scene undercover/interacting with the villain. Bond was rarely if ever suave or clever in this film, which - up until at least Brosnan if not all the way to Craig himself - was mostly what the movies consisted of, with a violent finish. This was all violence and action from the start. I now realize Ralph said most of this shit in the video, but whatever.
Started watching it after I saw this review. Loved it !!!! both the movie and the TV series. Shame there is no interest for the next two "Karla" spy series
He also said he bullshits a lot in his interviews and speaks his mind without thinking. When someone asks after a long 8 month shoot if he wants to do it again he says no at that point in time. Stop buying into the media trying to force controversy and make you dislike the guy
the actor who played C was fitting and convincing as moriarty in bbc's sherlock i don't get it they picked these good actors and just wasted every single one of them
Everyone's talking about Sam Smith over Radiohead, but seriously, when will Muse get to do a Bond theme? I know they were almost going to do Skyfall, but can't we just get them to actually do one? Like Butterflies and Hurricanes is the perfect song for it. Sidenote: Dillinger Escape Plan's One of Us is the Killer would also be really good.
For half of this movie I was bored. For everything else, I was confused. And for a small part of that, I was excited. Also, a nitpick: The sound mixing was awful at times. It felt so weird when a character was in a helicopter or a boat and I couldn't hear any sound coming from the vehicle.
SPECTRE was the cinematic equivalent of having to complete half a dozen fetch quests to get to the final boss, only for those items to be completely useless and then the final boss fight ends through a cutscene
they honestly should have used the radiohead song "spectre", unfortunately they denied it smh its proabably one of the best bond songs that could have been in the movie but oh well at least the Sam smith song wasn't trash like that madonna song
I think this film suffers from the same problem Star Trek Into Darkness had. With the whole blofeld thing it's trying to cater to the old fans and the unfamiliar ones just like Into Darkness did with the Kahn "reveal". But they ignore the fact that you can't really do both and that trying to do that just really breaks the movie.
When you played Sam Smith's Bond song w/ the sensual images and cut to the over-the-top Bond action I laughed so friggen hard, your editing is amazing! I love that you're not afraid to make gay jokes at yourself either, you're a damn cool dude my guy
God, the hype for this one was real. No one had seen the older James Bond stuff, but we all knew SPECTRE returning was a big deal. And then it wasn’t a big deal.
In my opinion, I really feel like James Bond is a really tired character like he's done everything, I really feel like there's nothing new or different you can do with James Bond
I disagree, there are still some new ideas you can bring to the table. It depends on how far the writers are willing to stray from the formula. There is a niche audience who are perfectly happy to see the same thing over again and I suspect EON is afraid to lose those people. Sadly this comes at the cost of storytelling.
Stop setting them in the modern day for one. Go back too the cold war, or even further back too the Two world wars. Bond's mother was Swiss, so we have a good excuse for him knowing German
That's the thing. If the writers stray away from the formula then it's hardly a Bond film in my opinion. I mean cmon let's be honest Casino Royale was a good film but not a good Bond film. It strayed away from the formula completely. It didn't feel like a Bond film. It felt like Bourne. Same with QoS. Skyfall returned with familiar elements but still strayed away from the formula. So yeah Bond films should always have the traditional formula. That's what makes them stand out from other spy and action franchises.
I didn't think Skyfall was that good. It felt like a ripoff of both the Dark Knight and Goldeneye. Frankly ever since Danial Craig took over. It feels like there just been riding on other movies coattails.. Casino Royal felt like Jason Born movie and Specter feels like Captain America Winter Solider. But with a less interesting protagonist.

It's so sad to see Andrew Scott do so terribly in this. His performance as Moriarty in Sherlock is so fucking amazing, it makes me believe he could have done better with a better script and director.
17:05 There's an explanation for the briefcase, but it's a pretty bad one. One guy was handing an explosive to another one, but the Italian isn't subtitled nor was it all explained beforehand. James hears and understand that one was dropping off or selling the other a bomb so he shoots it. Even then, explosives don't normally go off by being shot at.
D.M. Mortem well that's sort of the point. The character is queer coded, but if you watch the show the only people who are canonically either gay or bi are villains
April Jones, oh. I see. However I don't equate the representation of the villains being gay to a statement that all gays are evil.. that's just illogical.

A lot of them think a good concept is enough and poorly execute it.
The worst part about this film is how they picked ‘Writing On The Wall’ over Radiohead’s ‘Spectre’.

Sam Smith's awful whiny performance compelled me to listen to Tomorrow Never Dies for a palate cleanser.
That opening song lol!
Mustafa Ali XD
When I saw the tentacles touching the girl's leg I was like "I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going."
i see you're a man of culture as well.
I audibly said "Uh-oh..." in the theatre and was able to pinpoint pervs in the audience from the chuckles.
what!? what the fuck!?
There, you have 300 likes. Ocd was killing me.
I only need to hear of enough hentai to know where that goes.
who else flips out when they see Ralph's videos in there subscriptions?
me
Me
+RedAlert films Didn't think i'd find you here
*their
*EVERYWHERE*
You've got a new subscriber
Glad you're on board. He couldn't do it without you.
you got a ne- EVERYWHERE
the actor who played C was fitting and convincing as moriarty in bbc's sherlock i don't get it they picked these good actors and just wasted every single one of them
For real, seeing him as Moriarty was the first role I’d seen him in and I thought he did great!!
Sam Smith looks like a gay version of Ricky from Trailer Park Boys
Nailed It!
Ahahahahaha, incredible stuff, “COCKS let’s go”
Joe Sabbers holy shit I’ll never unsee that now 🤣
Tentacles & eyes en mass in the intro? Cthulhu confirmed.
*tentacles porn
Nah i can confirm. Cthulhu did not approve of his likeness to be used in this.
Do not disrespect my boi Cthulhu like this
You know, if they'd pulled that twist in the end for Christoph Waltz, it would have saved the movie.
Lea Seydoux? More like Lea TheyGaveHerNothingToDoux!
HAGAGAGAGHAHA!
Now that you say it, Muse would be a great fit for Bond. Like it should have already happened.
13:43 "in the 80s and 90s Bond started to get silly, too silly" *shows Timothy Dalton, the precursor to Daniel Craig's Bond*
80s and 90s
Bond had some lows but had some great highs
I wish I could get the opening of this video on ITunes or SoundCloud...
same 😂
are you fucking kidding me
You just hated this movie because James Bond is gay.
Dunkey, I do not watch your videos because you are black.
Renegade Vile
ohhhh sooo gaaayyy!
Vict0rian That reminds me of the time dinglebop beat Succ in smash
I like sucking juicy, thick boners. But also
I thought it was Succ that beat dinglebop in smoosh.
Dickhead same I love you
For half of this movie I was bored. For everything else, I was confused. And for a small part of that, I was excited.
Also, a nitpick: The sound mixing was awful at times. It felt so weird when a character was in a helicopter or a boat and I couldn't hear any sound coming from the vehicle.
Not to mention the biggest practical explosion in history being the same volume as dialogue.
wouldn’t call that nitpicking at all. sound makes some good movies great
I’m assuming when that dude said “he’s everywhere” it was in reference to Charles Stiles and his million cameras
Hey man the Live and Let Die opening was awesome
Only because of the fucking amazing song
How is your channel not bigger
EpicHomeMoviez because jesus christ is not his african american buddy
Because he puts hard work and effort into his videos.. Bad choice if you wanna be big on UA-cam.
EpicHomeMoviez He has 200k subs, what the hell are you thinking.
Nathan Kincaid that comment was made 5 months ago when he was at like 40k
take the fucking elephant
The best intro of any youtube video i've ever seen
Still to this day!!!!
Why are you not as big as YourMovieSucks? Priceless intro
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR his user name probably
His comedic timing is a bit off sometimes, and he uses good music in a stupid way.
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR He is good but Yms is probably the best channel on UA-cam
I saw you in toystory, you ever gonna do a tron/toystory deal?
SPECTRE was the cinematic equivalent of having to complete half a dozen fetch quests to get to the final boss, only for those items to be completely useless and then the final boss fight ends through a cutscene
Another reason: They turned Blofeld into another Aizen and gave him the suckiest motivation in Bond-villain history.
they honestly should have used the radiohead song "spectre", unfortunately they denied it smh its proabably one of the best bond songs that could have been in the movie but oh well at least the Sam smith song wasn't trash like that madonna song
***** when did I say it wasn't?
***** I didn't say the song wasn't great either lol
***** oh no😂😂. That was Adele, go check out the James Bond song by Madonna lol it's pretty awful
I was so upset when I found out they dropped the Radiohead song
alb0403 same here
''He's just something that exists that I don't listen to''
Well done
I think this film suffers from the same problem Star Trek Into Darkness had. With the whole blofeld thing it's trying to cater to the old fans and the unfamiliar ones just like Into Darkness did with the Kahn "reveal". But they ignore the fact that you can't really do both and that trying to do that just really breaks the movie.
E v e r y w h e r e
They got Ralph feinnes and didn't make him the villian? Where are their god damn brains!
I know I'm two years late, but I'm still gonna say this:
That was exactly what I was thinking every time he's on screen.
And they put Andrew Scott in a role where he's not a fucking crazy psychopath. He's great in Black Mirror and Sherlock
What about the Grand Budapest Hotel? He wasn't the villain in that
Was Ralph implying that Live And Let Die had a bad opening? Come on Ralph! The opening was okay, but at least the song is good.
When you played Sam Smith's Bond song w/ the sensual images and cut to the over-the-top Bond action I laughed so friggen hard, your editing is amazing! I love that you're not afraid to make gay jokes at yourself either, you're a damn cool dude my guy
snake eater is a better bond song than the one for spectre... and that is from the absolute opposite to james bond!
What a thrill.
God, I love that game!
snake eater is the best bond song.. best bond movie too
I give my life, not for honor, but for you
God, the hype for this one was real. No one had seen the older James Bond stuff, but we all knew SPECTRE returning was a big deal.
And then it wasn’t a big deal.
Love you Ralph. This was the first video of yoursI watched but you really peaked with this. The criticism, the editing and the humour. Just perfect.
I doubt Danial Craig lifeless bond helps.
Put him in space or the bottom of the ocean. I'd totally watch a movie about James Bond in BioShock!
I didn't hate it but it was no where near as good as casino royal or sky fall
And there's no way this song was the worst bond film song
I didn't think Skyfall was that good. It felt like a ripoff of both the Dark Knight and Goldeneye. Frankly ever since Danial Craig took over. It feels like there just been riding on other movies coattails.. Casino Royal felt like Jason Born movie and Specter feels like Captain America Winter Solider. But with a less interesting protagonist.
Lone Star imo sky fall is my favorite Craig bond film just because of silva
the intro where the crying guy is remixed in with the singing... killed me hahahah
quality content. thank you.

“For England, James?”
“No....for me”
Casino Royale had the best opening. Period.
I don’t know why but EVERYWHERE is my favorite Ralph meme
This intro should be on iTunes. It's a true inspiration and a masterpiece
I've had your Turkish Airlines Bond opening song cover stuck in my head all day. I absolutely LOVE it. Job well done my friend. 🦁👍🏽
6:29 What is that supposed to mean?
HE'S EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!
he got fucking blown to pieces
Also, we could've gotten an awesome Radiohead theme song. Just let that sink in, and depress you.
+Enjoy the Decline After listening to it I think the Radiohead theme is just as bad as the Sam Smith one.
+ralphthemoviemaker Do you like the band Radiohead?
+ralphthemoviemaker I think their album OK computer is a modern masterpiece.
I love Radiohead, just not that song.
+ralphthemoviemaker Haha, I'll admit I may just be a fanboy of the band. It's cool to know you're a fan of Radiohead, though! Love your channel! I love your cynicism towards these mainstream movies. I actually think you're the next RedLetterMedia! Considering they, especially Mike Stoklasa, seem to have lost their cynical side.
the tentacles represent that spectre has connections everywhere leading back to them, like an octopus. doesn't make it less weird and fetishy though.
It's also a widely used corporate and government symbol.
IT's also been their symbol since before the first bond movies ever existed, in the original novels
EVERYWHERE!
It's so sad to see Andrew Scott do so terribly in this. His performance as Moriarty in Sherlock is so fucking amazing, it makes me believe he could have done better with a better script and director.
PubliusAfricanus you’re joking right?
Metal Gear Solid 3 is the best Bond installation.
My family comes from Mexico city. Everything he said is true.
That intro made me realize that james bond0s intros are basically cheesy live action anime OPs
what makes me mad, is that the villains actor can be good, in the Sherlock Holmes BBC series, he does a great job as the villain, Moriarty.
God Himself although Moriarty is written as an offensive homophobic stereotype who behaves illogically and inconsistently
D.M. Mortem well that's sort of the point. The character is queer coded, but if you watch the show the only people who are canonically either gay or bi are villains
April Jones, oh. I see. However I don't equate the representation of the villains being gay to a statement that all gays are evil.. that's just illogical.
God Himself almost every actor can be adequate or good when given a good script, role and such.
April Jones and are you saying that's bad or ??
ralph that cover was absolutely beautiful
Skyfall had the best opening ever!
"Mexico City, that shithole." LMAO :D
I actually liked the octopus imaginary. Representing Spektres enormous manipulation and control.
_MEAHHRR_
If I risk it aaAlllllll
*_MEEAAHHHRR_*
Could you break my faaallllll
Glad I'm not the only who found the theme song for this movie to be off.
Seriously, they got a guy who sounds like he's crying to sing a James Bond song... why?
I sometimes come back to this vid just to hear Ralph's intro
Ralph nailed the intro
I saw this movie high as fuck in theaters. The intro credits were amazing. I have no idea what the movie's about though.
James Bond: Octo Expansion
The intro is the single greatest piece of cinema I have ever seen.
Whoever made the CC I have to really appreciate how they understood almost all of the intro song
