I was a little sold on it but No Time to Die really set it in stone. I'd say it's the best relationship now. The fact she's in consecutive movies and the fact they had a child put it together.
I feel like the smirk from bond after Q says he hates him is bond realizing he can trust Q 100%. He probably trusted him a little but now he knows Q has his back no matter what which is why bond says later that Q will get it done. "He always does"
I love that Bautista has only the one line in the movie, just as he dies. Up until that point hes operating on the sheer menace of casually killing a dude with his thumbs and going toe-to-toe with bond three times. Also before the car crashes into them as they go to face C, bond looks back, noticing that they were redirected. Its a nice touch to show that he noticed and was concerned about it. Shows bond's competence.
At least it's better than Quantum Of Solace tho especially at the action sequences that were directed and edited way better than QOS. Dave Bautista was awesome as the villain. I'm still mad that Radiohead's song was rejected because it's "too dark"
Spectre (and NTTD, to an extent) felt more like classic, lighthearted Bond films, compared to the different tone of the other in the CraigBond saga. And I see nothing wrong with that! He started off as a less experienced agent in Casino Royale, he grew through Quantum of Solace and Skyfall (and the buttload of trauma suffered through those films), but by Spectre he's wherever the "normal" Bonds start off.
I haven't seen NTTD yet, but I definitely agree on this! I do love the previous Craig films for what they are, but it's the "classic Bond" style, the more lighthearted tone, with more one-liners, more cool gadgets, and over the top villains and evil lairs that I really love the series as a whole for.
Personally I think Kingsman is the better Bond franchise right now. Even No Time to Die still feels like the writers were trying to make Flemming's Bond and not the more folk hero Bond of the classic movies.
Real talk, now that I think about it I’m pretty sure CinemaWins is a big part of the person I am today. The way he’s so positive! Not even that, but the way he focuses on the good things primarily while still acknowledging the flaws he can’t justify overlooking. It really spoke to me at a time I needed it, and since then I’ve been trying to do the same thing, actively trying to see the good in things wherever I can and hold onto it. So, I guess my point is… thank you, CW! You… quite literally changed my life, or at least the way I go about it. UA-cam is a better place with you in it, and I hope more people see the same thing in your approach that I did (and still do!).
I’ve gotta say, he really upped the clever in his writing for his wins this week. I felt more laughs and subtlety with his wins in this one. You’re doing awesome man! Can’t wait for the next one!
@@blackphoenix640 my bad. I thought he kept referring himself as lee, but I might have been thinking of someone else. For some reason the name fit in my head.
12:20 I tore my mcl when I was a kid, and almost 20 years later, I can tell you: it still hurts. Sometimes we underestimate the lengths actors go through to get the performance right. I bet when Daniel broke Batista's nose was why he did the hand shake, or maybe that was scripted, but hand shaking in pain after a solid punch is a win, human skulls were uniquely evolved to handle punches and hurt the puncher, yo.
Christoph Waltz is simultaneously disarmingly charming, genuinely polite, offputtingly creepy, and actually intimidating. Can't think of many actors that can pull that off with such ease. He was perfect for this. I don't care what anyone says about this film, it's one of my favorites from Bond.
I have my issues with the Craig bond movies, specifically the need to tie everything into Bond's tragic backstory. However as someone who's actually read Fleming's books and always wanted to see a "proper adaptation" I got to give Craig credit for delivering. The little character observations you make at 9:30 and 12:00 capture something that was always in the books but never quite made the transition to film before Craig. See also the scene with Vesper on the train in Casino Royal. Skewered indeed. Edit: spelling
i always loved Spectre, mostly because it feels alot more like an old bond film, Daniel Craig was a fantastic bond and No Time To Die was a great way to send him off
Another cinematography win: the dutch tilt at 12:14, which carries what initially feels like unwarranted unease, but is the prelude to the big fight with Dave Bautista
I don’t think I’ll ever understand the amount of hate this movie got when it was released, it’s a pretty great film and one that gets even better after watching No Time To Die
I liked it a lot Really my only issue is that it could’ve been twenty minutes shorter and flowed better But honestly I quite like it Every Craig Bond movie has something great to offer
Terrible writing, misuse of a huge talent in Christoph Waltz, illogical events, convoluted plans, child-like dialogues ? And also a terrible climax. Yeah, this movie is pretty bad. I have no hate hear, we just gotta be objective and honest from time to time.
Long and boring. Wasted potential of the bad guys. Also Specter actually being the master mind of everything kinda shits all over the motives of Sylva from Skyfall. Madeline was a plank of wood in this film. Bond blowing up the entier base with a single shot of some random valve? Or even worst, Bond shooting down a helicopter at night with a handgun? Id argue its the worst Bond film ever made. Blofeld being his brother is Austin Powers level of ridiculous.
Apparently some you think this is the cinemas cins page and come here to complain. Complaining about a movie on a UA-cam talking about all the great aspects of said movie… DING
Spectre was both my first actual Bond film and Daniel Craig 007 I got to see in theatres and to this day, I'll always remember that experience. Sam Mendes helped brought a great ending to the set up for SPECTRE's effect since Bond became a 00 agent and it's something that not much Bond fans look back at for this film. It will remain one of my personal favourites and definitely a underrated Bond film at least CinemaWins finally makes the vid it deserves. Thank you and love you man 💙
My favourite part of the theatre experience from Spectre was M's "And now we know what C stands for" line. Despite clearly being that mainly-British-used word, the audience (Canadian) very clearly all understood EXACTLY what he was saying. The entirely theatre filled with this absolutely perfect, you've-been-burned "ooooooo", it was amazing.
I really liked Spectre, with the exception of the Blofeld being Bond’s brother part. I think it was a really well-made callback to older Bonds, with some necessary updates, and No Time To Die adds to it.
I'd say "Spectre" is weighing down "No time to die". I found it hard to care about Madeleine returning since she had 0 chemistry with Bond in this one. Same with Blofeld we are supposed to think he is Bonds nemesis despite him being such a boring and uninteresting villain in this film.
@@liveac3694 I'm going to have to agree, Spectre shirked all responsibility for developing Bond and Madeleine's relationship and establishing Blofeld as a great villain in order to do the nonsensical "it was all me" reveal, and left the actual important stuff for No Time to Die to deal with. On the plus side, I think NTTD did a pretty good job and actually built a pretty solid story out of Spectre's mess
@@liveac3694 I agree with the flaws of Spectre, but I personally wouldn't say they weigh down No time to die as the flaws from Spectre are improved upon by making the characters and their chemistry more interesting.
My main issue is that I never bought the relationship between Bond and Madeleine. As far as I could tell they'd known each other for like 3 days when all of a sudden they were in love and Bond changed his entire personality and gave up his entire life's work to be with her. If she had been introduced in a previous movie, or they had shown that it had been longer in this movie, really made it clear that the two characters had proper time to get to know each other, I might've bought in.
@@ma-klounkee I'm not saying it's incredible, but it's much better in No Time To Die. I also didn't buy the quick turn into "madly in love" in Casino Royale - but Eva Green and Craig do have chemistry. I just didn't buy the sudden incredible romance turn. Still love Casino Royale.
@@kristiandepue5374 I have to respectfully disagree,to me it felt like a continuation of a less than believable relationship. They just had no real chemistry together, and for her to mention what she did about Vesper made it worse for me. I was overall pretty disappointed with Craig's Bond finale
Just saw No Time To Die in theatre yesterday, so seeing this on my recommended was perfect. Can't wait to see you do it, as well as I would also love to see you do an Everything Great About Tangled.
some of the best puns you've done so far. It's been a while since I laughed this good on a non funny oriented video. Thank you Lee. Keep up the great work! Already looking forward to your next video!
Oh, I can't wait to see you talk about Dune. I just watched it for the first time a month ago and it was something. Made me even more excited for the new one. You know, to see a good version of the story haha.
One of the great travasities that happened is when never had the chance to see what Alejandro Jodorowsky’s version Dune would have been like because he planned to Have Salivador Dali and Orson Wells in the film and would have had Pink Floyd and Magma do the score and the whole film would have been 10-14 hours long! How amazing that would have been!
I feel after the emotional roller coaster that was Skyfall, Spectre honestly felt like a return to…well…Bond. To me, it felt more like a Brosnan or Moore film with its plot and one-liners, (as well as Swann as a love interest to an extent, though she’s way more complex than the many Bond girls of old). And yet, despite that, the emotional aspects that really set the CraigBond movies apart from the rest is still present in this one. It’s focused on James as a person, about his journey and the people he’s lost on his way, and even links back to his childhood, in a similar manner as Skyfall. I think it’s a good blend of emotional CraigBond and flashy/cheesy ClassicBond, and a lot of people didn’t like it because…well…we haven’t gotten a “ClassicBond” flic since Die Another Day (2002) and The World Is Not Enough (1999). Granted, those movies weren’t nearly as well received as many/all the CraigBonds are, but they nonetheless represent the cheesy, suave, cool, (also misogynistic and a bit…touchy…) old Bond’s. Do I want that Bond to return? Not really. I like the more emotionally investing CraigBonds better, and their style is definitely more suitable for a modern audience (I cannot imagine what would happen if they tried to release a movie like You Only Live Twice today). TL;DR: Spectre was a decent blend of emotional CraigBond with flashy ClassicBond, which appealed to older fans of the series but less so to the younger fans who’ve grown up on CR, QoS, and Skyfall, which is why the movie wasn’t as well-received as most of us “Bond-snobs” think it should’ve. I’m looking forward to more Christoph Waltz and Léa Seydoux in No Time to Die!!!
What's inherently wrong about YOLT? If it's trying to turn Bond to japanese-looking, it was straight from the book, and didn't had underlying "yellowface" racist aspect to that (but LALD would be problematic, the book especially). Of course, nowadays it wouldn't made the cut, but there were no racist intentions behind that I believe. And of course overall that YOLT is not meant for modern audience, but I myself enjoy it. On SPECTRE, I agree with you on your arguments, but not in your personal conclusion. I like SPECTRE, also because I kinda missed more of classic and close to the formula Bond (however it's not entirely that). But yeah, probably your point is right that modern audience (non-Bond fans especially) changed their Bond perception based on Craig's earlier films. On NTTD, I've watched it 3 times at cinema already. There are LOTS of Seydoux, you will not be disappointed. Waltz is also great, but his screen time is rather short, despite that he's important to the plot.
@Brady Swanson I'm among those that were a bit bummed about the lack of Bond-isms. and yet I'm still not fully on board with "Spectre", yet for (seemingly) different reasons. all the camp and goofyness is complete fine for me... it's JAMES BOND, after all! I do however dislike pretty much the whole last third of the film.
@@PUARockstar Yeah, I personally don’t have any problem with YOLT, or LALD for that matter, but I just wanted to point out that in this day and age, they probably wouldn’t even make it to the scripting phase in today’s cinematic environment, just because of the likely backlash the cultural stereotyping would incite, regardless of the lack of racist overtones. Hell, I’m not even sure Tropic Thunder could be made again without significant controversy, and that was a spoof on tone-deaf racial stereotyping that came out less than 15 years ago! Additionally, I just saw NTTD, and I’ve got to say: I’m a bit shook my guy. I’m not going to spoil anything for anyone, but I will say that the…unprecedented…ending led to some…impassioned…reactions from my Bond-loving father.
Thank you! My wife & I just watched this in preparation for you and the latest Bond. Couldn't agree more with your piece. thank you. No Time to Die could be "it" for Bond & we'd be fine with that. Great franchise. open & shut
As a former helicopter mechanic at 1:53 pulling on the stick that hard would cause serious stress on the main shaft, blades, actuators and hydraulics (practically everything keeping it in the air) and if he managed to pull up in time without causing a stress failure, he would most likely need to land almost immediately
I say they should have kept calling it Quantum, and left the whole "they were brothers sort-of" thing out, and the "literally everything bad that happened to Bond was intentionally done by this guy" felt too silly.
"left the whole "they were brothers sort-of" thing out, and the "literally everything bad that happened to Bond was intentionally done by this guy" felt too silly." these are the 2 things that bothered me about this movie. and are the reason why I felt the first 2/3 are fun .... and then the movie dives off a cliff for me.
@@mikeRedMDK2032 Yeah, they could've just specified that Quantum was a sub-branch of Spectre and that would've tied in CS and QoS, and Skyfall really didn't need to be tied in. It retroactively ruins the character of Silva if Blofeld was really the one pulling the strings there.
Little fun fact, the car that Dave Bautista driving a Jaguar CX-75 which was a v8 hybrid car predating the holy trinity of the P1, 918 and LaFerrari and was helped by Williams F1 team as well as the car James Bond drove being the Aston Martin DB10 which you can see inspired the newer vantage lineup I saw it as a throwback to the ending chase of Die another day.

14:05 - I just got back from watching No Time to Die. Yes, I sit through the credits. And read them. The stunt safety coordinator's name was…. Jay Bond.
I like how in a way bond proves he's better than Blofeld by not killing him. This is due to fact that, unlike Blofeld, bond doesn't need to kill or torture someone just to be happy or fulfilled.
Yes, please, more of this editing style. The quick cuts to a humourous song or just a joke were so well done. The editors of this video really stepped it up. Thank you

Gonna catch No Time To Die next weekend. Really excited for it and you’ve done a wonderful review of the movies man. Really happy I catch your content. Lookin forward to the next installment of EGA.
The hating Bond to loving Bond trope is a series staple at this point. It's what happens when everything needs to happen all within one movie (for the most part). Christmas Jones, Natalya Simonova, Vesper Lynd, Madeleine Swann all had the same story, Swann's just happens to get fleshed out over multiple movies.
What I like about the 007 movies is when each movie is done by a different director It gives each movie an identity of its own Sam Mendes should've left the franchise when he could
Unfortunately that doesn't work for Marc Forster in Quantum Of Solace cuz his direction of the action sequences was so messy, it makes the editing of the scene choppy as fuck. Also Mendes's directing in Spectre was great, the issue for the movie is really just the screenplay in which he didn't wrote
I always interpreted the “The alarm is rather loud” line was Q warning Bond that the car he borrows from the armory is loud. Cause the scene after is the scene where he leave the bottle.

I don't think Spectre is a bad Bond movie from Craig's era, certainly not as good as Casino Royale and Skyfall but hey at least it's better than Quantum Of Solace especially in terms of action sequences that were directed and edited better than QOS that made the scenes remarkable
I always took it as Blofield deliberately toying with Bond and Madelaine. He knew she'd run to him thinking he couldn't recognize her, so Blofield just tortured him, not the precise hit. It probably would have come next. It's also possible that Blofield is making the whole thing up just to further torture the two of them.
14:07: Ummm . . . I'm sure you are aware that Bond *has* been called "Jimmy!" I do love the previous Craig films for what they are, but it's the "classic Bond" style, the more lighthearted tone, with more one-liners, more cool gadgets, and over the top villains and evil lairs that I really love the series as a whole for.
Yeah I don't get why this film gets so much hate. I like the serious tone of Skyfall, but I also like the fun spy-movie tone of this film!
Personally I think Kingsman is the better Bond franchise right now. Even No Time to Die still feels like the writers were trying to make Flemming's Bond and not the more folk hero Bond of the classic movies.
@@KRYMauL The whole Craig era has been heavily based on Flemming's.

No Time To Die is a really great bond film and I’m sure you will like it
Were those songs about “James Bond and X fighting SPECTRE together” supposed to be a B99 nod to Jake and Doug Judy’s songs?
This is the best episode of Cinema Wins and perfectly exemplifies why this is one of my favorite UA-cam channels.
Omg your little "Bond and Paddington" song brought such a smile on my face!
Finally watched spectre yesterday so this is a win for me
i always loved Spectre, mostly because it feels alot more like an old bond film, Daniel Craig was a fantastic bond and No Time To Die was a great way to send him off
Everything Great About The Prince of Egypt would be pretty dope
Another cinematography win: the dutch tilt at 12:14, which carries what initially feels like unwarranted unease, but is the prelude to the big fight with Dave Bautista
14:04 BrosnanBond's CIA contact, Jack Wade, repeatedly calls him Jimbo, which is hilarious
I don’t think I’ll ever understand the amount of hate this movie got when it was released, it’s a pretty great film and one that gets even better after watching No Time To Die
I liked it a lot
Really my only issue is that it could’ve been twenty minutes shorter and flowed better
But honestly I quite like it
Every Craig Bond movie has something great to offer
Blofeld being his brother is Austin Powers level of ridiculous.
no time to die was the worst of all craigbond films with all the plot holes and weird cuts.
@@BleedingUranium I was like OOOOOHHHHH too in theaters. And mine was Canadian too
I agree, for me this is my second favorite bond film next to Skyfall!
I really liked Spectre, with the exception of the Blofeld being Bond’s brother part. I think it was a really well-made callback to older Bonds, with some necessary updates, and No Time To Die adds to it.
No Time to die compliments Spectre greatly by expanding the relationship between Bond and Madeleine, making Spectre a part 1 of a 2 part finale
@@The12thDimension. When they get back together and the general ending really sold it.
Couldn’t have said it better. Made even worse by the fact that Bond and Vespers chemistry was off the charts
I watched No Time To Die two days ago, and their relationship plays much better in it, I think.
It’s mostly fixed in No Time to Die
I buy it now but at the time yeah not so much
@@ma-klounkee I'm not saying it's incredible, but it's much better in No Time To Die.

Damn you’re right.
I guessed Dr Strange. 🤦🏼♂️
8:00 The crows popping out reminds me of all of the animal scares that director John Glen put in all of his Bond films.
Also Bond and Hinx's train fight was fantastic, and reminiscent of Bond's classic fights with Red Grant or Jaws that also happened on trains.
From Russia With Love was awesome 👍
Wouldn't have minded fhe SPECTRE name, but you hit the nail on the head with the "brothers" nonsense!!
"left the whole "they were brothers sort-of" thing out, and the "literally everything bad that happened to Bond was intentionally done by this guy" felt too silly."
these are the 2 things that bothered me about this movie. and are the reason why I felt the first 2/3 are fun .... and then the movie dives off a cliff for me.
Seemed pretty uninspired a way to thread the previous films' stakes together
@@mikeRedMDK2032 Yeah, they could've just specified that Quantum was a sub-branch of Spectre and that would've tied in CS and QoS, and Skyfall really didn't need to be tied in. It retroactively ruins the character of Silva if Blofeld was really the one pulling the strings there.

What I like about the 007 movies is when each movie is done by a different director
It gives each movie an identity of its own
Sam Mendes should've left the franchise when he could
Unfortunately that doesn't work for Marc Forster in Quantum Of Solace cuz his direction of the action sequences was so messy, it makes the editing of the scene choppy as fuck. Also Mendes's directing in Spectre was great, the issue for the movie is really just the screenplay in which he didn't wrote
you can't bring new guy everytime because of the way storytelling works.

I always took it as Blofield deliberately toying with Bond and Madelaine. He knew she'd run to him thinking he couldn't recognize her, so Blofield just tortured him, not the precise hit.
