    I ran down to Home Depot to possibly score a large Nepenthes Ventrata plant after seeing some people post about them on social media. Not only did I get a new Nepenthes Ventrata, I also scored this beautiful healthy venus flytrap.
    I decided to go ahead and start lumping it in with my other Home Depot venus flytrap. Check out the growth in this plant, the biggest change being it's new flower stalks. I can't wait for them to grow so I can try my hand at propagating them!

    I rescued a bunch of flytraps from Lowe’s and put them in hibernation. They are slowly beginning to wake up and they are all alive. Happy to see your video about your rescue!

    I bought a venus fly trap on February 3rd and repotted on the 5th. It super droopy. But one of the pods that were closed open so maybe? But it's still laying down-ish. Should I be worried?

      Hey Becky! That's a great question. The repotting process is kind of hard on venus flytraps, they don't like their roots to be messed with. Most of my venus flytraps I repot go through a phase of a month or two where they look not great before taking to the new substrate and growing strong. If you check out these videos and watch the growth of the flytraps you can see the pattern of them going from pretty unhealthy to growing strong! Also, them laying down is normal after replanting. You just want to watch for new traps, the new ones should be stronger than the old ones. ua-cam.com/video/sbBsZogA8j0/v-deo.html

    I enjoy rescuing Home Depot plants, but I’ve made it a thing to rescue the ones really looking bad. Get them at 50% off when it’s border line dead. 😆

    I bought a Venus fly trap at Home Depot but it’s 4in and most of it is black some dark green ones I replanted it on plain back yard dirt and lots of sunlight with weekly flys will it survive? I named her Victoria

      Probably not to be honest. They need soil that lacks nutrients and distilled water. Regular soil will burn the roots and probably kill the plant. They are kind of special needs compared to most other plants.

    why are those little cube things called death cubes? do they overheat the plant?

    • @CarnivorousPlantsHub
      @CarnivorousPlantsHub  3 роки тому

      Because if you leave them in there they will die. Since people buy them in those it's a common misconception that VFTs belong in terrariums or they should be left in there for high humidity. Doing so will kill it quick. They are really only in them to protect them from moving around a lot during shipping.

  • @Agonarch50

    Can you go from a death cube to a pot like the one that has 2 plants?

    • @CarnivorousPlantsHub
      @CarnivorousPlantsHub  3 роки тому +1

      Ya, there is really no reason not to. However, from my experience, the bigger the pot you put it in, the harder it will be to keep it moist. They dry out much quicker in bigger pots and are a bit harder to bottom water from a tray. If you are willing to put in a little extra work for watering, it should be okay!

      @@CarnivorousPlantsHub thank you for replying to me. I’m going to look for a smaller pot then. I just bought/saved this fly trap for a cube. I have it sitting in a tray of distilled water along with a sarracenia I recently got. Both outside in Southern California winter lol.

      I'm definitely jealous of the SoCal weather! I'm way up in the north and we get some brutal winter weather!

      I'm new to this. I just got a micrscopic baby fly trap through Walmart. Much smaller than I thought it would be. Came in a glass 3" bottle with a cork in the top! How do I take care of ir??

      @@lynnjohnson9433 Try to take it out of the bottle, even at the expense of destroying the bottle, and plant it normally.
