Doll$Boxx is another one of my favorite Japanese bands. The fusion of lead singer Fuki (Light Bringer, Unlucky Morpheus) and the four great musicians of Gacharic Spin is just so good. Take My Chance is their version of BabyMetal's Gimme Chocolate. By that I mean, it grabs you by the throat, slaps you in the face, and makes you ask WTF? Their bass player, F Chopper Koga, is outstanding, up there with MISA from Band Maid. A fun fact about her is that early in her career she was also a swimsuit model.
Doll$boxx is a side project between Gacharic Spin, normally a lot more poppy than this, and Fuki, maybe the best female metal vocalist in Japan. This band started due to Gacharic Spin wanting to do something a bit heavier than they normally do. They 1st got together when Gacharic Spin were doing a tour and were having a problem with their singer not turning up, so put out a call on TV asking for anyone that knew their songs to come and sing with them, and the next day Fuki contacted them. Fuki is just a workaholic over 90 releases in 15 years, mostly full albums. Fuki's main band is Unlucky Morpheus, who also started as a side project in 2008, but they have stopped being a side project and have become more full time, due to co-founder Shiren being ill and stopping all other activities and popularity, they are hoping to do a world tour in the next few years. Try this live ua-cam.com/video/sKDjZ_pyeng/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TxM Unlucky Morpheus have so much talent it should be illegal.
The MV is actually making fun of the underground idol scene in Japan. So you got this bunch of geeks waiting to perv out over cute girls in cute outfits acting nauseatingly cute and/but singing crappy pop songs. Instead, Doll$boxx comes in blasting their faces, and in the end, they are all dancing to the music. Basically, it's saying listen to us for our music, or something like that. Doll$boxx is pronounced doll's box. It's a side project of Fuki (lead vocals) who is the lead singer of Lightbringer, Unlucky Morpheus, and it seems a billion other projects, and the 4 musicians of Gacharic Spin. Which is why they only have 14 songs in 7 or 8 years. They have MVs for all 14 songs (the 1st 9 songs are in a series of MVs, which is what the "to be continued" is about), and all 14 songs are played in their one concert DVD. Ironically, I like Doll$boxx more than any of their main projects.
Between all of her other projects, it's amazing that Fuki had any sort of free time to just show up to sing for Gacharic Spin on a whim, finish their tour with them, then squeeze in time to write, record, & film videos for almost all of Doll$boxx's songs... Fuki must really abhor the concept of "time off".
Can confirm, it's not hard to run into said idol shows all over japan. If you see a random crowd by a stage in a tower records or tsutaya go the other direction, it's going to get creepy
I prefer D$B to their main projects, too (although just barely over Unlucky Morpheus), and they're one of my very favorite bands in the world. I'm lucky enough to have seen them live (twice...), once from basically arm's length away. They are _phenomenal_ live...one of the most intense shows I've ever seen, but also superbly executed.
@@TheNightOwlKS Know I'm WAY late to this thread, but have to say that I am beginning to think Fuki is an experimental Japanese Robot that got away (kind of like Bender), since she obviously has no time for sleeping - but just keeps going - like the Energizer Bunny
Great reaction. It’s all in the name: don’t try to put our music in a box, and considering just packaging their looks for cash is BS yet state of the industry. Pretty much what this, and the majority of their videos are about. They’re actually my favorite musicians, but because of versatility, creativity, prolific(outside of Doll$Boxx, who only have 14-17 songs), and originality (maids before BandMaid, mannequin challenge before it went viral, etc). And Japanese metalers love them, hire to cohost Takayoshi Ohmura’s BDay show some 5yrs now (he’s a Japanese Yngvie, in BabyMetal too). A fast song by them is Karakuri Town (town of windup dolls, in keeping with mannequin Boxx), and my fav is Dragonet (live or MV), Loud Twin Stars live, or merrily high go round for the guitar solo, or Monopoly for dual singers. They’re never quite brutal, come close in “Hana drum solo” live )which is Gacharic Spin plus Fuki guesting (which means exCtly = doll$boxx) doing Black Survival”, very popular, but not great). For Fuki the singer, see Unlucky Morpheus (speedy), for the 4 musicians’ even more eclectic chaos, see Gacharic Spin, either Broken Lover live real chaos controls the crowd), or newest lineup’s Gold Dash (if Rush took a 17yr old rapper to a rave). Maybe call it disco metal?!, but it’s always fun n an interesting spectacle 🤘🎸💃🏻😎
I love this band lmaoo i love how you didnt even say anything during the video. The vocalist Fuki is so talented. I hope you will look at her other bands too ;))
please react to Light Bringer - Hyperion, another band where Fuki was a vocalist same as in Doll$box and Unlucky Morpheus ua-cam.com/video/Qnqud-E4aXM/v-deo.html
You got to listen to Fuki, good. Wait until you listen to Unlucky Morpheus (spoiler: it IS metal). I recommend "Knight of Sword", "Angreifer" or "Unending Sorceress" as a start point. From DOLL$BOXX, "Shout Down" maybe will fit a little better on your tastes.
You're welcome, LOL. I agree with some other comments, for heavier sound with the same lead singer (FUKI) try Unlucky Morpheus. I like Cadaver / Revadac ua-cam.com/video/gxN3L2jrrEI/v-deo.html
I've followed Japanese music scene for 20+ years quite a lot, I thought I had heard it all... :D It's a bit out there and very, very Japanese. I might not be a fan regardless because it's a bit too modern for my tastes. Too "produced" feeling.
Love it 👍

Its dollsboxx and its a lot of fun! 😊✌️
Techno Pop Metal? Now I've heard it all :D They're obviously doing this side project for fun and it's nice for what it is.

Shiren isn't ill, more accurately would be injured & suffering from nerve & tendon issues in his left arm.

If you prefer heavier stuff, check out Unlucky Morpheus, another project of Fuki (the singer in Doll$boxx): ua-cam.com/video/PCv3s0T4bx0/v-deo.html
