    Excellent... - If memory serves me correct, I think at 10:23, you can right click on the tempo track -> select all -> slide all the "non static tempos" to like 240 BPM, then they all become 240BPM, then now you can slide them back down to your desired original tempo and they will now all become static between each bar.

    Thank you for the video and clear explanation. The purpose of Cubase's generating a tempo map from a freely played performance is to lock the grid to the performance. This has the advantage of retaining the 'feel' while overlaying tempo-dependent content (e.g., loops, delay & reverb effects) in lock step to the grid. After saving the 'tempo definition, either to a Cubase project or embedded into the audio track files, does not this remove the original live performance 'feel'? This may be fine for certain musical genres, but in other cases the feel that comes about from tempo variations is highly desirable and should preserved. In these cases, would you simply ignore the 'tempo definition' step and leave the generated tempo map enabled, or are there other steps to be taken?

      @Featherlightstudio  Рік тому

      The option to keep the original feel and have the tempo map lock to it or, write the definitions to the audio and force it to a tempo are just different tools in your musical toolbox. This is why you have the choice to write it 'just to that specific project' or into the actual audio itself for all future projects.

    LOL
    I'm Baaaack. Ok. I think that I can hear the tempo of music a bit better now.
    Question: In Method 2 (Tempo Detection) you say not to cut off any of the .wav.
    ...However, your sample was already cut from the previous example. So, should we be removing the empty space in the beginning or no (for Tempo Detection)?

    Thanks - I've been missing how to set all tracks to a musical time base to use musical mode! I have found Cubase Tempo Detection to be better on longer song files than Logic, Live, and Studio One (Melodyne). I wish Cubase allowed the import of apple audio files (M4A) in addition to WAV and MP3. You can do it in WAVELAB, but not Cubase Pro. Looking forward to the next video - subscribed, thumbs up!

    Nice demonstration. Had just started experimenting with the tempo detection and didn't get why it changed the time signature.
    One thing, when working with actual multitrack files, why move the start to half or 1/4 befor the downbeat, and run the detection ?
    Isn't it best to just selecting a drum track that have a steady 1,2,3,4 pattern as possible and run the detection after you cut the intro and end silence ?

    What if you receive a vocal from an artist who needs a production built around it.... What if that vocal is all that you have?? How would you go about finding/deciding a tempo then?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  Рік тому +1

      assuming the vocal was recorded to a tempo in the first place, I would get in n the ball park first ( tap out a few choices using the metronome ) and see if it stays with the vocal. Hard to say without any music/percussion transients in the track to detect.

      @@Featherlightstudio Hmmm... It'd be awesome to see a video on how you would approach programming drums to "Phrases" which are sung into verses and choruses... and also guitars.
      I ask because I'd like to work with a singer songwriter whose performances are darling. However, she only has vocal and guitar tracks and isn't comfortable with computers. Moreover, she is in another country, and so i'm trying to figure things out via email.
      She is spectacularly talented (to my ear) and I am dedicated to figuring this out. But it feels like the ONLY VIDEO TUTORIALS AVAILABLE are how to find a tempo based on percussion...
      ....I feel like i'm taking "crazy pills". I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or cry until I go mad (insane) and devolve into laughing like a crazy person.
      Know what I mean, Sir?
      I can't be the only person desperately seeking out guidance on finding tempo & programming software drums to vocals or guitars. A tutorial would probably help a TON of people, sir.

      @@Featherlightstudio Oh my GOODNESS, that'd be INCREDIBLE!!! I've barely got my toes dipped in. Yet, I have more vocal tracks (some with guitars paired) waiting for production, because I don't know how to tempo them or add drums to them (at least 25 (over half from different artists).
      I am pitching ideas for their music, but I am stuck at this initial step. And the kicker is that... If i'm new to this... HOW MANY others are (and have been) stuck with this problem for decades?
      If you do a video on this, I'm sure that it'd provide a tremendous service to the community!

    Love this video, quick question how do you make midi with diferent tempos playing conform to 4/4? Classical music has different tempos how do you use the signatue tempo detection to make it match up with 4/4?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  2 роки тому +2

      Actually Greg Ondo from Cubase has a great video on this. Its audio based but a lot of the same ideas translate to MIDI as well.

    how do we get to know if the time signature is not 4/4, rather is 3/4 but cubase shows 1/4

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  3 роки тому +1

      1/4 is simply the default ( starting ) time signature until you use the pencil tool to draw in the first time signature 'Event' that would be the actual time signature of the song. If your song is 4/4 then create the first event marker on the first downbeat of the song. Same for 3/4 or any other time sig.

    I have played first version style a 6/8 rhythm in 180 BPM tempo, the same rhythm style is played in the second version but this time in 4/4 at 104 BPM, What would be the right tempo for the second version to match exactly the first version? So i can export the second version and import it in the first version ( 6/8, 180 BPM ).
    Many thanks...

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  3 роки тому +1

      Cubase will simply try to detect whatever performance it analyzes. If you attach/edit an additional performance onto the existing one, (regardless of the tempo) it will simply analyze that tempo as well and indicate the result. a 6/8 performance at a tempo of 180bpm works out to about 120bpm in 4/4 time depending on the rhythmic pattern. your playing.

    为什么一首固定速度的歌曲会检测出不停变化的速度线呢?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  3 роки тому

      好问题。我认为这是因为“节奏检测”是基于找到音频瞬态峰值之间的空间。音频并非十全十美,而且变化很大。
